Justice League (2017)

ABBEY: We watched Justice League on the weekend after its release at Golden Village Paya Lebar. The movie doesn’t have a boring scene specially when Gal Gadot is there. Who gets bored with her?

Adding The Flash and his crazy punchlines and naivety, you will definitely burst into laughter specially when he showed his skills but realized that Superman is also fast.

Yes, that is a spoiler. My fave superhero is alive. I just noticed that there are some resemblance with Batman and Ironman with regards of how they act as rich persons as well as Spiderman and The Flash.

Definitely there will be a sequel for this.

Justice League (2017)

WILL:
Aside from Wonder Woman, this is the one of the most awaited film of Abbey for 2017, Justice League (where's Green Lantern?).

I enjoyed the movie, but of course not as much enjoyment with Marvel's. I am not aware that Superman can be resurrected from the dead and he is the only hope for the sequel.

I like The Flash, the cocky and childish character. Ahmm, yeah, just like Spiderman.

Totally recommended for kids. :)

Shaw Theatres (Singapore) Premiere: A New Silver Screen Experience at NEX Mall

ABBEY: Wilma’s anticipation for Thor:Ragnarok is so high that when the tickets were made available she bought a pair at Shaw Premiere (NEX). The passes can make you stay at the Premiere Lounge while passing time and have some snacks.

We also got 5SGD voucher so our All-day Breaksfast set was 7.50 only. We were in the theater 15 minutes before the show starts and were given a big bowl of popcorn, a mountain of cheesy nachos and drink. The blanket has no funky smell and is comfortable.

The seat however is not smooth when I’m reclining it. The leather makes too much noise which can disturb other viewers. Also I was restricted stretching out by the wall separating us with other guests.

Commendation to the staffs as they’re very attentive to needs of patrons.

Shaw Theatres (Singapore) Premiere - All Day Breakfast Set

WILL: To cap off the three cinemas who cater a "higher" rank in watching the silver screen, we booked at Shaw. If Cathay prides themselves with their Platinum Movie Suites, Golden Village have their Gold Class, my favourite Shaw Theatres presents their Shaw Premiere.

Shaw Premiere is located just at Nex Mall. Yep, only in one place. We were immediately served by the ticketing counter and was confused why the tickets is so blurry. It seems that there is no ink or the ink was not printed well on the shiny silver paper.

We entered the Premiere lobby and the staff assisted and ushered us to our seat. Abbey ordered an All Day Breakfast Meal and I am surprised that it was served at the lobby itself (I am thinking if it can be eaten inside the cinema).

Inside, there is no enough space for Abbey's leg. Since I am at the corner, he needs to straighten up his reclining chair (that causes noise) for me to pass through. There is no separate table for each of us. The blanket is good, no mini pillow provided. This is the only reclining chair that made my lower back painful after seating for more than an hour. Huhu!

For snacks, better buy at ticketing counter. The quantity is more generous and way cheaper.

Oh my, sorry. This tarnished my love and respect with Shaw. Never again, Shaw Premiere.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

ABBEY: We watched Thor: Ragnarok on the first day it hit the theaters. It was in Shaw Premiere (Nex Mall).

Spoiler alert!!!
Thor and Loki have a big sister. She was the right hand of their father when they are expanding the empire. The sister got hooked to power so the father banished her and coming back now for revenge; even Thor’s hammer became a casualty of it. The only one who can defeat her is Surtur (looks like the darkness monster in Moana).

I found  the movie light which is good since it should be for the kids. There will be laughter as the punchlines keep on coming. Thor the God of Hammer is forming The Revengers :)

Don’t wait for the second end credit; not worth it.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017) - Shaw Theatres Premiere - A new silver screen experience

WILL: Waited months to see this movie! When 2nd week of October started, I am always visiting the Shaw Premiere site to check if they start to sell the Thor : Ragnarok's seats.

Gladly, 2 days before the show date, they released the schedule and tickets.

So how's the movie?! The action is there but it is more light and brought a non-stop laugh with the audience.

In this movie, for the first time, I find Loki cute. But, of course Thor is so handsome with his new haircut. Lurve it!

Ok! Ok! Back to the movie. Haha. It is a feel-good movie and it caught me off-guard.

This movie, I am ready to watch it for one more time.

Disney ALADDIN on Broadway | The Hit Broadway Musical at Cadillac Palace Theatre

ABBEY: We got so excited when we learned that Aladdin will be shown in Chicago the same time we will visit there. We booked our tickets on Wilma's natal day. After completing the payment we just realized that the show we booked is on New York. True story. But Ticketmaster helped us to refund it and booked a pair again, now in Cadillac Palace, Chicago.

It was the first night of the production and the guests flocked at the theater and each was given a program. The place was dimly-lit but well alive. We can hear the orchestra doing their final tune up. And a couple of minutes later, the show began.

It was magical and spectacular. The actors are great especially Genie. The scene I like the most is when Genie and Aladdin met. Yes, and not when he met Jasmine. It was just intense, loud, vibrant, and elegant. The magic carpet ride will take you to pitch black skies with stars that shine like diamonds while being serenaded with "A whole new world".

The duo Jafar and Iago gave us good laughs. Kudos to the cast, director and whole production of Aladdin.

Cadillac Palace Theatre

WILL: A whole new world! A dazzling place I never knew...

Watching Aladdin at Cadillac Palace is a true-to-life "a whole new world" for me and Abbey. We never dreamt that we can watch a play at US of A and so fantastic that it showed my all-time favorite Disney cartoon Aladdin.

What is the best scene I cannot forget? When Aladdin was chased by guards, when Aladdin was inside the Cave of Wonders, Aladdin was introduced at the palace, and ahmm... can I say all? There is no dead air or boring scene. Like a child, I can watch it again and again! Haha!

Cadillac Palace is the theatre that I saw in movies. Draping curtains, lavish ceilings and lovely carpets. It is a magnificent place and perfect for the extravagant palace of Princess Jasmine!

Thanks Abbey for this play! Lurve it! More-more broadway shows to watch :)

Fifty Shades Darker

ABBEY: This is the second installment of 50 Shades series.

Mr. Grey wants Anastasia back. And he did everything in his power to reach his goal. The moves were suave; giving lavish gifts, buying the company she's working on, dressing her with designer clothes. All is well until his past haunted him. One of his past (submissive) went rouge. But Mr. Grey and rich as he is, it was taken care off.

The "steamy" scenes were wilder than the first one: from the shower, to the red room and to the childhood bedroom of Christian. But I just can't imagine how the other elevator passengers didn't take notice of what's happening at the back :)

Cathay Cineleisure Orchard Platinum Movie Suites Online Ticket

WILL:
I am frustrated with the first batch of 50 Shades Trilogy and I am so confused why I made a decision to watch the second movie.

Well, I can't blame myself, I am blushing whenever Christian Grey make something to their "un-vanilla" relationship with Ms. Steel.

If I will compare it with the book, ahmmm 2/10. But if it is a standalone, for "kilig" factor, I will rate it 9/10.

Will I watch next year the 50 Shades Freed? of course! Hehe!

Gold Class (VivoCity) - Golden Village Cinemas

ABBEY: We pampered ourselves by booking a pair of Golden Village Gold Class tickets to watch The Great Wall premiere for 120.50SGD.

It was Christmas day and people flocked the mall as well as the theaters. But for us, we enjoyed our time in the Gold Class lounge. Aside from the snacks that comes with ticket purchase (date pudding with vanilla ice cream and a glass of brut), we got a box of popcorn for a few cents more than the usual but no queues. Yes, the food were delivered to your seat. The lazy-boy-type seat is comfortable. I gave all the blankets to Wilma as she got very cold. Haha. It was a good experience. But I hope the price should be less :) And also if the table can be dragged towards you to ease the process of munching your snacks, it would be better.

They also offer sodas, juice, fries and burgers on their menu. With just a push of a button (like in a plane) they will come and attend to your needs.

WILL: Leave was not approved and it will not be a hindrance for me and Abbey to be joyful on that season. As they say, if there's a will, there's a way. And this is our way to celebrate holidays...splurging in cinema.

We booked Gold Class at Golden Village Vivocity. We got a discount for almost $5 (Abbey is a GV Movie Club Member).

What to expect inside? A Very-very-very important person treatment. Once you step-in at the foyer an extraordinary smile will greet you. A seat is there to keep you comfortable while waiting for the time. A free wifi and an attendant that always there checking on your needs (warm or cold water). They have their own washroom, actually everything is in there. Yup! Even popcorn! You do not need to join the lone queue outside.

Inside the cinema itself, of course it is given that you will have a La-z-Boy like seat. A mini table on the middle and blanket. I am disappointed when I smelled the blanket. Gosh! It seems that it was used by too many people and they forgot to changed it. We hurriedly call the attention of staff and they gave us new set of those. Unlike the Platinum Movie Suites - The Cathay they do not have a a table of your own that you can pull in and out on your pleasure and a privacy thingy that blocks other to look at your site.

The date pudding is tasty and heavy. I want to have another plate of it. Haha!

Anyways, I am sorry for comparing. It still at your preference...our readers :)

It is okay to splurge once in a while. Enjoy the fruit of our labor and enjoy life!

Happy New Year to all of you!

The Great Wall (Film 2016) - Singapore Premiere Screening

ABBEY: Wow, it is definitely a Christmas gift that we're able to watch The Great Wall starring Matt Damon almost two months before it hits the theaters (globally).

It's usually been told that the wall was built for protection from raids and human invasions. Or is it really for human invaders only? The movie has its moments of action and comedy. Colorful and uses innovative army tactics and weapons; that's how I'll describe the army. The war scenes are great and intense.

Watch the movie and you'll see that Tian Jing (Commander Lin Mei) is more than just a pretty face.

Golden Village Gold Class Ticket for
The Great Wall (Film 2016) - Singapore Premiere Screening

WILL:
Abbey is well aware that I am fascinated with Egypt's treasure, power and its enigmatic pyramids and of course China's dynasty, empires and specially the Great Wall. So when Matt Damon announced that he will star The Great Wall Film, without second thought, I invited Abbey out.

This is our December 25th date. He bought the Golden Village Gold Class at VivoCity ticket.

How the film went? There is no dull moment. Now I know that Great Wall is not just to protect the village inside from intruders but also from other beings. :)

Fantastic Beasts - (Shaw at Waterway Point)

ABBEY: It is good that after sometime another Harry Potter movie will grace the silverscreen. Though not actually about the boy who lived, I'm still excited to see again the world of people with magic.

Fantastic Beast and where to find them is a textbook or a reference book used by wizards and witches. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) is the main character. He wanted to release a Thunderbird in Arizona but briefly stops in New York city. Then the adventure begins. He met Jacob Kowalski where he accidentally learned about magic.

The movie is great and I burst into laughter whenever the Niffler is
on the scene. Can't wait to see the sequel with Grindelwald.

Fantastic Beasts - Shaw Theatres Booking Confirmation
WILL: Are we entitled to skip any of Harry Potter based movie? Nope! Haha! So here we are watching the first sequel of Hogwart's reference book. The Fantastic Beast.

Is it great? Not that like with Harry Potter's sequels but it tingles my mind to anticipate on next scenes. :)

I will surely wait for the next movie! Another movie to wait for! 10/10.

Inferno Singapore (2016 Film) - Dan Brown

ABBEY: This is the third installation of Robert Langdon's story; the main character of the novels by Dan Brown.

It started in the hospital where Robert was being treated. He is having trouble remembering what transpired the past 48 hours and having visions and weird dreams. He doesn't even remember the word for coffee :) But just as puzzle-solver he is and with his skills regarding the arts, he is able to decipher it and save the world. There maybe wrong guesses and interpretation of information but all fell into places before the inferno strikes.

Like the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, this movie made me appreciate the arts more and the secret passageways on museums :)

Shaw Theatres Singapore Inferno Movie Booking Confirmation

WILL: The first book I read that was written by Dan Brown is the Deception Point. Oh! I have no intention to put it down unless my eyes screaming at me so I can put them to slumber. Haha. Then, Abbey surprised me of the boom Inferno. :) And for the second time, I watch a movie that I have read. Ha!

It just validated by imagination while reading Inferno. But I cannot help myself to smile at myself because I know what will happen next. Crazy right?

Anyways, I enjoyed the movie!

TEDxNTU (Singapore) 2016: Through the Looking Glass

ABBEY: I registered late for this event due to my schedule getting changed at the 11th hour. And I got a reply that I'm on the waiting list. I was hesitant to come as I know the event will be fully packed and going there and being told that there is no room for more will be disappointing. But still I pushed for it and luckily I got in. TEDx NTU welcomes walk-ins. Yey!

We were there 20 minutes early. From the start until the end, all the talks and ideas are all worth spreading. From reptiles to genes to water. What struck me the most is the talk from Raj Singh. He talked about the life of foreign workers for households and construction. They all endure the hardships, struggles, sacrifices and criticisms just to send money back to their families back home. It gave me more awareness of how they are being treated and how they should be treated.

I hope I can attend more TED events or can be the one who will stand in that red circle.

TEDxNTU (Singapore) 2016: Through the Looking Glass Team
WILL: Be careful what you wish for...this is the best part of unrelentless praying and murmuring your wants and needs to ALMIGHTY. One prayer was granted..again. To attend a live TED talk.

Why would I submerge myself in telenovelas (sorry I am not fond of it) when I could pick some brains of experts in their fields? TEDx was held at NTU one Saturday and Abbey's classmate send the invite for us months before. No second thoughts, I registered.

What's the best part I have learned? From Dr. Chris Cummings, communication can break us apart. Dr. Jørgen Schlundt  verified Abbey and I thinking that people are getting sick because of the chemicals we are putting in our food and feeds given to domesticated livestocks.  Akshobh Giridharadas, "yellow journalism" is all over the web. A catchy/fear spreading title but nothing special inside. Investigative journalism is dying because of this non-sense news that lurks in social media sites. Yamini Bhaskar fear can be unlearned (okay I will work on that) and Raj Singh made my tear flow while seeing seeing his short video about workers here in Singapore.

An-eye opening experience. Ideas worth to think of. Ideas worth sharing! Thanks NTU for the free TEDx, free lunch and high tea (never get the chance to taste the food or drinks served, don't worry it is okay), free goodie bag! Till next year's TEDx.

Jason Bourne (2016)

ABBEY: I liked Jason Bourne movies.

I don't know if there exist a human who have such kind of talent who know who are the enemies in his environment. But that makes him unique. After all those years and his skill, he was not able to decipher who he really is. Poor fellow.

I got dizzy on the action scenes at the beginning. Wow, the cameras move fast, very fast.

Disguises, wittiness, cleverness were used by Jason to reach the top floor and meet the villain who wants him down. You can guess how it ends. I think this will be the last. One more and it will be a drag.

Shaw Theatres Waterway Point Ticket
WILL: I am fan of Jason Bourne or should I say Matt Damon, or Jason Bourne or Matt Damon. Haha.

So Bourne came back into the silverscreen. In this movie, he now somewhat knew about his dad and why/what joined the project.

A total action! Worthy of my time! See you again Jason! I know you have more surprises up on your sleeves to finish this sequel.

Captain America: Civil War (Power Plant Cinema - Makati City)

ABBEY: This post is long overdue and I'll tell you the reason at the end of this blog.

We watched Civil War at Rockwell Power Plant Cinema and it is the last full show. We bought the tickets online and we really appreciate the efforts of the staff for us to have tickets. There were some miscommunication on buying them but eventually resolved. We were about to pay at their office and we were told that it is a cash basis only. Still, the management accommodated our payment thru card as it was communicated before.

The tickets were reprinted and we headed out to the cinema. The hall is big with enough leg room for me :) Since this is the last full show, and the place is cold and comfortable, I slept half of the movie. I was too tired. But I got a chance to see Spiderman, Aunt May (haha), and Stan Lee (Tony Stank).

Anyways, we watched the movie again and I can say that the movie plot is already there in Pinoy movies but it's as if new when it was applied in Hollywood. The action and effects are great. Captain Rogers really believed on his friend. Can't wait for the next movie.

Kudos Marvel and Rockwell Power Plant Cinema Management.

WILL: This is so, so late.. we apologize for that.

For Civil War movie review, well, it has its continuation. The dust is not yet cleared.

I want to take this opportunity to thank PowerPlant Mall for accommodating our request. As you can see, we booked our cinema ticket on the first day this movie hits the theater.

I booked online at Power Plant Cinema and yet they have some problem in accepting credit cards (international or local). Despite backing out, we send an email to inform them about their site's glitch. In return, they help us blocked the cinema seats manually and we can pay when we arrived at the cinema.

We commend Ms. Julie for treating us as a gold... As a VIP customer. Again, thanks Ms. Julie and Power Plant Mall. You help us make a wonderful bonding time for me and my family.

23rd Singapore International Piano Festival 2016 Kalaidoscope: Cédric Tiberghien

ABBEY: As a friend of SSO, we have this perk to have a free pair of concert tickets. We chose to attend a piano concert as part of 23rd Singapore International Piano Festival : Kaleidoscope. The artist is Cedric Tiberghien. He had the following repertoire:

MOZART - Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor, K.457
BEETHOVEN- Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major “Waldstein”, Op. 53
CHOPIN - 24 Preludes, Op. 28

He explained how universal key of C is and it reflected in his performance. Thank you SSO. Your friend, Abbey.

Grand Piano Use By Cédric Tiberghien

WILL: This is our third free concert ticket and we are super happy to stumble upon Singapore Symphony Orchestra and its awesome benefits when you registered to be their SSO friend.

Husband is the one who chose this concert, obviously. Well, he is more of a piano guy while I am fond of violins. We watched Cedric Tiberghien to represent the last show held for Piano Festival.

What I can say?! Superb talent! I am awed of the fact that he can do that magnificent music on a piano..alone! Haha! I appreciated it but not as enjoyed when I am hearing violins (clearly).

On the next day, I felt more relax. Maybe because once again, I heard Mozart's piece that always keeps me calm. Haha!

Till next time kind, sincere and ever systematic people behind SSO! We had a wonderful experience with you!

Watch Finding Dory (2016) Singapore

ABBEY: I believe that Dory will find her way to her family given what was the result of finding Nemo. But how will they find her family is totally exciting.

The story is great. Old characters where shown: the fish in the tank at Finding Nemo, Nemo and Marlin.

You'll have lots of fun with the new ones as well: Destiny (whale shark), Hank (octupus), Bailey (beluga whale) and his great pair of glasses; wooooooo,  Becky and her focus, Fluke, Rudder, and Gerald (seals), and the otters. You'll definitely laugh and maybe cry.

I'll not put any spoilers in here or maybe one; wait for the end credit. Worth to watch in cinema.

Golden Village Suntec City
WILL: Abbey is fan of one of the coolest celebrity of Hollywood. Who am I pertaining to? It is Ellen Degeneres. And of course, being a fan, Abbey demands to watch Finding Dory. Haha.

There are many good points that this fish movie tackled. Gosh! I am on the verge of tears when Dory found her mom and dad.

I enjoyed the movie but it is quite short, ahmmm, I mean is I want more time to be with this fish and the vast ocean.

Hope everything is fine now with Nemo and Dory.

Cameron Mackintosh's Les Misérables (Singapore)

ABBEY: At last we got the opportunity to watch Les Mesirables live. It was held at Esplanade Theatre. Before it started, we took snaps on their backdrops. As we enter the theatre I kept on searching for Row B until I realized it was the frontmost row. Yes, the stage and then our row. I was under the impression that we're on second row.
Anyways, it got me excited.

I'm able to see the actors clearly with all their facial expressions. So clear that I can see spits from Jean Valjean and the glittering braces of the actress who played Eponine :) One disadvantage is that you cannot see the actor when they lie down on the floor. Another one is there will be limited view if you're not in the center; and we're in the left part.

The musical is great; Opening act, Master of the house, One Day More, every part of it. Really appreciate the hardwork of the production for us to see a masterpiece and enjoy it.

WILL: I wished for me to watch Les Miserables on stage when I saw their movie. I know from my heart that it will create a great satisfaction for myself.

Last year they announced that they will visit Philippines and I immediately posted a facebook status and tagged Les Miserables facebook page and Marina Bay Sands. Gosh! I am so delighted that they and ALMIGHTY granted my wish! Wohhoooo!

Abbey and Chat was really decided to go for the nearest row on the stage. I reserved our ticket and bought the "B" seats (all A) were greyed out. To our surprise when we reached Esplanade Theatre, it is the first seat, as in stage then us. Exciting right.

From that side, you can see their expressions, the intimate feeling, even saliva! Haha! Oh! One thing, you can make a stare eye-to-eye with the actors and actresses. Booyeah!

Even I knew the story, it still never fails me to make me cry! Huhu!

And on that! I am actually thinking to watch again El Filibusterismo of Jose Rizal. Hmm. Is there any available stage play of that in Manila? Please let us know if have news about it.

Les Miserables production, crew, artists and musicians. Thank you so much. You all made my heart so happy!

Celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary with Barber's Violin Concerto at Victoria Concert Hall

ABBEY: I am a Friend of SSO, we got a pair of complimentary tickets for one of their concerts: Barber's Violin Concerto; was held at Victoria Concert Hall.

The harmony of the instruments and the joyful beats really feels like they are celebrating with Our 5th wedding anniversary. The two-hour program includes the following:
Stravinsky' Danses Concertantes
Barber's Violin Concerto, Op. 14
Symphony No. 38 in D major
K.504, Prague.

WILL: This year, we are really into music. We are astounded of the music created by many instruments. Being a friend of Singapore Symphony Orchestra is a real win-win thing.

We always want to try new things for us to not bore each other so this year we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary with a blast!

We watched Barber's Violin Concerto . Gosh! I can live forever listening to those instruments. Music is very powerful that you can feel what the musicians wants you to feel. Yep! They are one of the best in manipulating our emotions. Haha!

Glad to hear some Mozarts LIVE. I only used to listen in cds of my niece. :)

Thanks again SSO for a free ticket for this event.

The Game Of Thrones Experience: Worlds Of Westeros - HBO Asia (Ion Orchard)

ABBEY: Winter is coming... Oh no, the sixth season of Game of Thrones will be airing April 26, 2016. And we're privileged that they conduct roadshow at Basement 4 of Ion Orchard Mall from April 2-7.

It exhibits the storyboards, the sword replica of Ned Stark, the Walker and others. You can also have a virtual reality tour of the elevator of the wall. We're not able to see it as waiting time is almost two hours. A snap in green screen will have you posed with the dragon.

But for me the most fun part is to have an opportunity to seat in the Iron Throne. Wow, it is great to be a king :)

WILL: The people now are going berserk because the wait will finally over! But HBO & Starhub heightens up the excitement further more by just putting up "Game of Thrones: World of Westeros" at Ion Orchard.

We went there to checkout the iron throne but they exceed my expectation due they exhibit the actual swords used, storyboards, a 4D wall and a green screen for a photo-op for with Targaryen's dragon.

Thanks to the sponsors. Can't wait to see the series this month! :)
