ABBEY: Just when you think you know all about Maleficent, well, well, there’s so much more to know about. As with the trailer she’s not the only one of her kind. They were in hiding.  The movie is another story of revenge but still the heroes will save the day. Respect each others culture, and boundaries and you will live a good harmonious life. WILL:  One of my fave actress is Angelina Jolie and somewhat I hate it when they changed the plot of Sleeping Beauty. Totally twisted argh!  Now, the Maleficent 2 - Mistress of Evil gave a good comeback. This time it really proves that mothers knows best for her child. That mothers only want the best for their child. If there will be another sequel of Maleficent, on my opinion, it is totally a drag. Well, let’s see. 4 cloves garlic (minced)  1 medium onion (sliced)  1 medium cabbage (shredded)  1 can delimondo corned beef  Salt and pepper  Sauté onion then garlic. Mix in the cabbage and cook for a couple of minutes. Put salt and pepper to taste. Once cabbage is tender, put the corned beef and simmer for a couple of minutes. Serve. VERDICT WILL:  So, after our youtube video of Corned Beef Briyani, YT suggested few corned beef recipes too. And Caribbean Corned Beef hooked my attention. Abbey gave it a try and voila! It is another BUDGET and HEALTHY recipe on our list! ABBEY: The Chua boys were excited when we told them we will go for a karting session on their visit.  We got a 35SGD/pax rate at Karting Arena. This includes two round of simulation, 10-minute actual race and a “driving license” for a year. I can say that the simulation is fun. You can bump into your competitions and still get out unscathed. But it’s different on the actual track. You need to turn the stirring wheel hard to get a good cut in the corner else you’ll eat up time. And you will definitely feel the Gs.  I completed 7 laps and finished second. Good thing that the karts’ speed can be controlled remotely. And with this, over speeding and accidents can be avoided. ABBEY: After a sumptuous lunch we went to Amazon Cafe for coffee. The decorations are of a cartoony-jungle so don’t be afraid to go in. I tried their amazon coffee. Funny thing is that it is not marked as bestseller or must-try on their menu since that is their name. But the staff clarified that it is. The coffee taste good; strong but not bitter.  We partnered it with a slice of red velvet cheesecake which is by the way smooth and has the right amount of sweetness. Totally recommended. Next time I’ll try their iced version of honey black coffee. ABBEY: Aloft KL is our hotel of choice for our recent Malaysia escapade. We were not given an early checkin but they were able to store our luggages until we got our room. The hotel lounge and lobby are spacious. Guests can play games, get into their business staff, drink in the bar or just lazy out to one of their couches. My father also got a birthday greeting from them. The room, sheets and pillows are clean. What I really like is their french press. That’s different from the usual automatic coffee machine. I need to make the coffee on my own. Our stay includes buffet breakfast and the food didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed a couple of plates of pakora, bacon, sausages, iddly, prata, nasi lemak and fried rice. We enjoyed and got relaxed during our stay. WILL:  Abbey is a member of Marriott Bonvoy! ABBEY: We got 3 pairs of complementary tickets to Singapore Orchid  Garden. Thanks to Nparks app for the reward. It’s a different world when you enter it which is inside Singapore Botanic Gardens. I really enjoyed and took pictures of the colorful flowers.  There are orchids everywhere. The way they were grown is awesome.  For me the main attraction are the orchids which were named after foreign dignitaries who visited Singapore. Dendrobium Rodrigo Roa Duterte which has a violet-red color was named after Philippines 16th president. Others were for the Queen Elizabeth, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, and Nelson Mandela. The experience is relaxing and you’ll appreciate nature more. WILL:  Orchid is the National Flower of Singapore and they do a lot of research and breeding to let its natural beauty to shine. Yeah! ABBEY: We’ve seen SuperSub at Suntec. Curiosity told me to try it. Next thing I know is I’m paying for my Classic Gourmet Hotdog sub (5.80SGD). It also came with a serving of nachos.  The filling is up to the brim. You’ll get messy upon eating it. The hotdog is chicken hotdog which also taste good along with my mayonnaise-sriracha sauce. Their concept is almost the same with Stuffed and Subway. Super Sub At Suntec City : Chicken Hotdog - Good Ol' Classic WILL:  It was a long time since we set our foot at Suntec City. So we are quite amused that there are many food outlets added at the basement and one of those is Super Sub. Abbey loves hotdog in a bun but Super Sub go to the next level. Imagine a subway-like hotdog topped with different relishes! I am quite disappointed with their Truffle Egg Mayo but totally fell in love with Good Ol’ Classic. Love all the toppings on it. Corned beef briyani!   Mutton is quite pricey. To meet the budget and take off some stuffs out the cupboard, Abbey opened up one can of Delimondo corned beef.  The taste? Not compromised! It is like you are having a beef/mutton briyani for a fraction of a price! Love it! Thanks Abbey for the brilliant idea! Next week again! Haha! 

ABBEY: I always want to bring Wilma to White Restaurant at Punggol Settlement but the queue is long. Enter their new branch at Jewel.  We were given a table only after a couple of minutes. We got their signature white bee hoon and horfun. Both came in a platter and you can see chunks of ingredients and you know you’re in for a treat. The taste is great. The slight char on the horfun noodles gave the smokey taste specially when mixed with the sauce.  The white bee hoon has a smooth texture and I really enjoyed the prawns in it. Make sure to ask for their chilli sauce. I think we asked for refill 3 times. It is that good. ABBEY: Since I love coffee my wife gave me 3 packs of coffee from Dutch Colony for my 10th year in Singapore. I got the ones from Brazil, Columbia and Sumatra. All of them went well on the cold brew process.  The ones from Brazil and Columbia gave sour fruity taste when I made them in a moka pot, but the Sumatra just tasted the same hot or cold. And I really like it. Adding cream to them gave more texture to my coffees. I wonder what flavors my wife give me next. Thanks Dutch Colony. ABBEY: WILL:  We always do a 24-hour fast. This round I initiated the 2-day fasting to Abbey.   Fasting is not only good for your body for you to lose weight, balance the sugar and salt and to restart your system but fasting is spiritually good too! In the Bible, every person who has a great request or want to know a divine answer to their queries did fasting with distinctive prayer.  Since my system is used to a 24-hour fasting, I didn’t feel any dizziness nor weakening of my body when I up out of bed at 9am. I even asked Abbey if we can hit the gym  on 12noon of 21st September.  3pm my body shut down to a snooze and I woke up soaked on my sweat. That was 6pm. My body is shaking and for the third time in my fasting experience I felt a numbing and tingling sensation on my whole body. And of course, I know what’s next! ABBEY: We queued a couple of times at Gram Pancake and on our third try we were in. There are only 30 soufflé pancakes at each time slots. A serving of three 4-cm pancake on top of each other costs SGD 17.90. That doesn’t include any drink and every person that will enter the restaurant should have an item to order (speaking of profit per customer. Haha). They are wobbly (or jiggly) and fluffy but nothing special about the taste. The smell is like the fancy streetfood-pancake we had in Philippines. Maybe its with the water they use for steaming the pancakes. (Recycled?)  Also in my observation, the staffs seem to give that “take photos for IG, finish your food fast, and leave” vibes. They might just want to serve all the customers who want to get in.  No warmth or welcoming feel except for that one staff or maybe she’s the manager. ABBEY: We were craving for porridge so we were on a hunt for one at The Shoppes (Marina Bay Sands). A minute after opening, we entered Canton Paradise. It gives you the feel of splendor with their white and bright ambiance.  I got a bowl of Handmade Meatball Congee and a serving of you tiao. The unique thing with the porridge is they put fresh coriander leaves on top. I didn’t know that it can be a good combination. The porridge rice is so soft that you just have to slurp it like a thick soup. Definitely our cravings were satisfied. Canton Paradise | Marina Bay Sands WILL:  We are around Marina Bay Sands, and the best restaurant to serve a porridge is Canton Paradise.   I ordered  century egg congee with shredded pork . Gosh! This is the porridge I am looking for. Well, what kind? I like it when the rice looks like just it is out from a pressure cooker. Ingredients: Fish fillet (cut into 2x3 inch sizes) 2 eggs Potato starch (all-purpose flour) 1 tomato (sliced in half) 3 stalks of curry leaves Vegetarian curry mix 1 medium Onion 2 Green chilli (sliced in half) Salt and pepper Make the batter by combining the eggs and potato starch. The consistency depends on your preference. Season the fillet with salt and pepper and dip in the batter. Double fry the fish and set aside. Heat oil in a pan, and add the chilli, onion, and curry leaves until fragrant. Put in the curry mixture and a cup of water. Add salt to taste. Bring to a boil then add tomato (eggplant or lady finger), and coconut milk. You can put the fish into the curry or serve them separately. Enjoy with hot rice. ABBEY: I got sick almost the whole month of June. I look for ways how to reset my system and build my immune system again. Surprisingly, most write ups recommend to drink tea. Next thing I know, I’m shopping loose tea combinations at Scoop (Tanglin Mall). I got one for sleep, immunity and relaxation. At first I thought I would not like the taste but I was wrong. With mixture of tea leaves, lavender, spearmint, rose petals and many more, I really enjoyed drinking it and helped me a lot to become better again.  Plus they don’t have that burnt taste even when soaked for a long time. ABBEY: This is one of Wilma’s gift or should I say surprises for my 10th year anniversary in Singapore. I got intrigued with this confectionary when I read about the company being bought by Warren Buffet. What does it taste like why the Omaha oracle invested in them.  Each piece is different as with all other boxes of chocolates. But they are all velvety smooth and you can taste the premium-ness to it ( a higher level of chocolatiness). On the other hand, their hard candies are like jaw breakers.  You cannot bite it but just enjoy the flavor until the candy dissolves.
