100% Honest Review: Is Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie Singapore’s Most Unique Date Spot?

ABBEY: Watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Sands Theatre left me with one irresistible craving: chocolate. So naturally, our next stop was Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie at Dempsey Road. After all, the name “Mr. Bucket” instantly brings Charlie Bucket to mind. Who knows? Maybe this is the real chocolate factory after Charlie eventually took over from Willy Wonka.

To make the experience even sweeter, we booked the Chocolate Tour and Tasting, which costs SGD 20 per person. It was a fun and informative journey into the world of artisan chocolate, from learning about cacao to tasting some of their signature creations.

One thing that made me especially proud was discovering that Mr. Bucket partners with cocoa farmers from the Philippines. Seeing Philippine-grown cacao featured in premium handcrafted chocolates made the visit even more meaningful.

Of course, I couldn’t take my eyes off their beautiful display of colourful chocolate bon bons. Each piece looked like a tiny work of art, and every bite delivered a silky-smooth texture with rich, well-balanced flavours. You can immediately tell that these chocolates are made with exceptional quality and craftsmanship.

What surprised me the most, however, were their uniquely Singaporean flavour combinations. The Prawn Stick Keropok and Vegan Bakkwa & Cashew milk chocolates sounded unusual at first, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. But after the first bite, everything clicked. The savoury notes complemented the sweetness perfectly, making the chocolate flavours even more pronounced. It was an unexpected pairing that worked incredibly well.

We enjoyed them so much that we bought extra packs to bring home for our family in the Philippines. They made for unique souvenirs and a delicious way to share our Singapore experience.

If you’re searching for one of the best chocolate experiences in Singapore, be sure to add Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie to your itinerary. Whether you’re a serious chocolate lover, looking for a unique date idea, or simply curious about bean-to-bar chocolate, this hidden gem at Dempsey Road is well worth a visit. You might even feel like you’ve stepped into your very own chocolate factory.

We Found SG’s Most Affordable Ice Plunge & Finnish Sauna for Post-Workout Recovery!

ABBEY: Our last few weeks in Singapore have been quite a roller coaster ride, so finding Reva couldn’t have come at a better time. We simply walked in, and it turned out to be exactly the relaxing experience we needed.

The combination of the hot pool, cold plunge pool, and sauna helped our bodies recharge after weeks of stress. We were also lucky with the weather. It was raining that day, making the experience even more enjoyable. Feeling the cool air before stepping into the warm sauna was incredibly relaxing. After spending time in the sauna, soaking in the hot pool felt soothing, while plunging into the cold pool afterward instantly woke up our muscles and senses. The tingling and slightly numb feeling from the cold plunge definitely took some getting used to, but it was refreshing. Haha!

During our visit we were able to watch a cardio session held inside the sauna. The participants were completely drenched in sweat by the end of the workout, proving just how intense the class was.

At the heart of the facility is a wave pool, which adds a unique touch to the overall experience. It was fun to watch surfers of all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced riders, practicing and improving their techniques on the artificial waves.

If you’re looking for a place in Singapore to relax, recover, and experience contrast therapy with the added bonus of an indoor surfing facility, Reva is definitely worth checking out.

WILL: When we traveled to Ireland, we made it a whole mission to try their famous contrast therapy routine—we're talking a steaming hot sauna followed by a freezing cold plunge. And oh my goodness, we fell in love! We kept wishing and praying that someday Singapore would get a facility just like it.

Then… Reva entered the chat.

We just decided to walk in—no booking needed, stress-free! If I remember correctly, we ended up staying for a solid 2 hours just to complete 5 full rounds of hot and cold. Talk about dedication! 😂

You will literally feel your body waking up as it reacts to the extreme temperatures. I swear, all my veins felt completely alive and energized! It’s a crazy sensation that I’ve honestly never felt before, not even from running or any high-intensity workout I’ve ever tried. If you are a fitness enthusiast looking for the ultimate healing and recovery, this is IT.

The verdict? Reva is hands-down the most affordable spot we’ve found in SG. But a quick heads-up to manage your expectations: this isn't your fancy, ultra-quiet, luxury spa-like environment, okie? It's raw, it's fun, and it gets the job done.

Enjoy your session, wellness besties!

Shaw Theatres premiere Review: Is This Premium Cinema Worth It?

ABBEY: Recently, we finally got to experience the newly renovated Shaw Theatres Lido along Orchard Road just in time for The Devil Wears Prada 2 hitting the silver screen. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear that Shaw has elevated the cinema experience into something far more premium and comfortable for moviegoers in Singapore.

One of the first things you will notice is the impressive selection of food and beverage options available. Guests are spoiled for choice with concepts like Centro, Espresso and Matcha Bar, and even a Cocktail Bar, making it feel more like an upscale lounge than a traditional cinema. If you are planning a date night or weekend movie experience, the value is surprisingly decent too. A SGD90 package already includes a pair of Lido Premiere tickets along with two SGD15 F&B credits.

The service also stood out during our visit. An usher personally welcomed us and guided us to our leather recliner seats while explaining how the in-seat service works. With just a push of a button, assistance is readily available throughout the movie.

Of course, we had to try the food. I ordered the hotdog bun and it was honestly a pleasant surprise. It had more flavor compared to the usual convenience store versions, while the sausage itself was juicy and not dry at all. Simple comfort food done properly.

Comfort is where the renovated Shaw Lido truly shines. I kept my seat reclined throughout the entire movie, which made the experience incredibly relaxing. Each seat also comes with a movable table that can easily be pulled closer, allowing you to dine comfortably without juggling snacks on your lap.

The newly renovated Shaw Theatres Lido has definitely raised the bar for cinema experiences in Singapore. Between the upgraded interiors, attentive service, premium seating, and improved dining options, it now feels like more than just a place to watch a movie. It is an experience worth looking forward to.

WILL: If you are getting a little bored of your usual, routine movie dates in Singapore and want to treat your loved one to something special, you’ve probably looked into luxury theatres.

Another weekend, another date day with my favorite person, Abbey! This time, we decided to elevate our movie night. While The Devil Wears Prada remains one of my absolute all-time favorites (even if the sequel felt like a bit of a drag), we weren't just there for the film—we were there to experience one of the newest premium cinema experiences in Singapore: Shaw Theatres premiere.

If you’re wondering about the ticket prices, food menu quality, and whether it's worth ditching standard seats for a luxury upgrade, here is our honest, unfiltered breakdown.

To be honest, our premium experience didn't start on the best note. We arrived early, expecting a dedicated luxury lounge area where we could sit, relax, and wait for the cinema halls to open—which is standard for many premium theatres in Singapore.

Unfortunately, we were turned away by a staff. When we asked about a lounge, we were told that a dedicated waiting lounge didn't exist for this tier. Honestly? Sigh. A bit of a letdown for a premium experience! When we asked about the premiere lounge, we were told that a dedicated waiting lounge didn't exist for this tier. Honestly? Sigh. A bit of a letdown when you are paying a premium price!

Thankfully, things took a total turnaround the moment we stepped into the actual cinema hall.

  • The Premium Recliners: The seats are, of course, incredibly comfy and spacious. The recliners come equipped with wide tray tables that are actually big enough to accommodate a full meal without feeling cramped.
  • The Hall Temperature: A huge plus was the temperature control. It was perfectly cozy and not ice-cold, so you won't need to bring a thick jacket or get an extra blanket just to survive the runtime!
  • The Service: The cinema ushers inside did a fantastic job. They were incredibly welcoming, guided us directly to our seats, and clearly explained how the premium system works.
  • The Food: We decided to test out the in-theater dining, and it was a pleasant surprise. The food is genuinely good and didn't taste like it was just pulled out of a freezer and microwaved. You can tell it was actually prepared with some care. Yay!

The Verdict: Despite the lack of a pre-movie waiting lounge, the incredible seat comfort, excellent in-hall service, and great food quality make Shaw Theatres premiere a fantastic option for a premium movie date night in Singapore.

If you want to surprise your partner and upgrade your usual weekend routine, it is definitely worth a try!
