ABBEY: Video Review  WILL:  Yan Ting is one of the most awarded restaurant in Singapore. It is nestled at St. Regis hotel and because of that you will definitely receive tantamount ways of luxuries and being a VIP.  On our email correspondence, Restaurant Guest Relation used this phrase “As such, I personally remain at your disposal should you require any assistance.”, gosh, I feel like a master. Haha! Oh! I emailed not only for reservation but to let them know what we are celebrating. Because of that, Abbey was presented a thick round chocolate cake to make his 10th Year in Singapore extra special. Thanks Yat Thien and Jeanie.  Let’s go to the dumplings. ABBEY: Lay’s Poppables This is the new and funny-looking chips we got from the supermarket. Each chip resembles an inflated closed-net. And they are on the expensive side of the spectrum (2 bags for 9.55SGD). We tried Sea Salt and White Cheddar flavors; both taste good and not too overpowering. You can finish in one sitting with soda on the side. Lay’s Deep Ridged Lay’s chips come up with their version of ridges. And they went “deep”. The chip look like they have valleys on them. I wish they can have a plain one so I can partner it with any dip. But they do have flaming spicy and hot wings flavors. A nice way to breakout of the ordinary. ABBEY: This magnificent structure really made me wish that I could stay there one day. And here we are, we got a room for a night at The Fullerton Hotel to celebrate my 10th year living in Singapore. And as a member of I Prefer we got a room upgrade (Postmaster room - city view), bathtub, early check in, late check out and a cocktail. Our hotel stay comes also with buffet breakfast. Even our request for hypoallergenic pillows were granted. Since it’s a celebration the hotel decorated our room with balloons and flowers as well as a slice of decadent chocolate cake. To maximize the comfort of the bed, we tired ourselves as we learned Singapore maritime history thru a free guided tour. Our tour guide Bill gave us some insights about the beginnings of Singapore trade and its plans for the future. ABBEY: We were in Funan checking what’s new with the place and also explored what are the dining options the mall has to offer. We went to Bizen for dinner. The queue is beginning to get long even though it has many empty tables. The “culprits” are the cashier and the customers. Before you can seat the cashier will take your order and you will pay. And since the menu is new, he has to explain the items and the customer will take time to decide what he wants. Maybe there can be a better way to address this. Anyways I got chicken teriyaki with rice and macaroni bacon and cheese for sides for 10.90 SGD. The meat is moist and the sauce is sweet and have a burnt taste just like char. The restaurant is beside the wall climbing so you can enjoy your food while watching the climbers “suffer and get exhausted “. Haha. ABBEY: This is not an ordinary cream puff. It is the fruit of croissant and pastry cream getting married. Haha. The pastry has the consistency of a croissant which has layers of “flakiness”. And the cream is not overpoweringly sweet. Enough to tease your tastebuds for another bite. We got these at their stall at Jewel. Abbey bought a coffee to partner it with. While the light and sounds are on show, we keep on munching this delightful piece of pastry.  How was it? It is milky and more on the sweeter side. ABBEY: There are lots of bubble tea shops here in Singapore. And I’m confused which ones got the better taste than the others. Wilma brought one home from R & B Tea; Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cheese Brûlée. The flavor is rich and creamy. Not too sweet but pretty sure that sugar is off the charts for recommended daily allowance. But who’s counting? :) Glad to know there are options I can indulge with. ABBEY: After being in “house-arrest” for three weeks of recuperation, I managed to get out. :) Wilma and I met with Chat and Shaine at Tiong Bahru Bakery Safari for the long-planned exchange of supplies from Philippines. It will get you sweating going to the place. What do you expect? It is a safari. A tent-like structure will welcome you and don’t worry about the heat inside. They have giant fans and good air circulation. No mosquitoes as well. I got pulled pork sandwich partnered with a latte. It is a bit pricey but the quality of food is there. The pork is sweet and sour and the coriander seeds gave the tangy kick. The latte is good as it is. No need for additional sugar.  Good to catch up with friends in a good place. ABBEY: I got sick on the month of June and the first question the doctor asked me is “Are you stressed?”. Whoa! That escalated quickly. So to help me with my predicament, we went back to the basics; veggie diet, lemon-cayenne concoction on an empty stomach, vitamin C overdose and a massage. We went to Liang Yi (Selatar Mall) for an hour of foot reflexology. Good thing there are no available seats so I got my massage laid down. The foot reflex made me relaxed and I enjoyed the session. Right points were hit and some of them I was not aware needed “kneading”. I’m satisfied with the service and will recommend to my friends. ABBEY: We were able to see the HSBC Rain Vortex Light Show at Jewel few minutes before watching a movie. It is a 5-minute show where the lights and sounds give life to the tallest indoor waterfall.  Show starts at 7:30PM and every hour after that until 12:30AM. But no need to wait for that; the waterfall itself will amaze you with its rainforest ambiance. Surely this is one of the jewels of Jewel.  Go to the airport way early before your flight and visit Jewel. HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound Show Jewel Changi Airport  WILL:  The newly built glass dome with cascading waterfall will surely amaze you! What more if you see the light and sound show of Jewel Changi Airport? Jewel Changi has the world’s tallest indoor waterfall with almost 38,000 liters of water cascading every minute through the oculus.   I do not want to spoil anything about the light and sound show, so please just go there and watch it.
