Fred Perry : Sub-Sonic Live (Singapore) @ The Lawn

ABBEY: This is our second invitation for Fred Perry Sub-Sonic Live. Like the first free flow of drink for those who were Fred Perry apparel. The drinks were catered by 42 Below Vodka. Singtel also had a caricature booth. After queuing we had our turn to be "cartoonized". It went well.

Kudos to the artists. They also gave us a magazine in which we are inset as part of the first party. The song artist is good as well. The stage is better this time as we can see their faces now. Before going home we finished 2 songs of Charlie Lim. This guy plays the guitar really good. I hope we can be part again of the next gathering :)

WILL: They created a culture... The Fred Perry Subculture. A clothing brand that helps the underground music to surface on music scene. We are glad that our RSVP was placed in and got the invite for this event. We got there at The Lawn around 8PM, band is playing and all were flocking their way to the stage.
One serving of 42 and below accompany us all through the night. One cup is enough, Abbey still need to go to the office after the party. Singtel is one of the sponsor, now they have this caricature booth and we never let this opportunity pass and sat our butt and wait for the man or lady on the another side of two-way mirror to finish the job. We got the picture and mouthed a thank you. We paved our way to the stage and listened to the bands.
Fascinating and relaxing event. This is a great night to enjoy the weekend. We are really looking forward for the next schedule of Fred Perry Subculture.
Thanks Fred Perry and to all the sponsors. Keep up the help of the music artists!

SUB-SONIC LIVE (Fred Perry Singapore Subculture)

ABBEY: We RSVP-ed at Fred Perry Sub-Sonic event. It showcased bands and musicians playing their own music to give entertainment for the night. De Burg offers discounted rates for their burger sliders from 4sgd. The burgers were delicious and juicy. Free ice cream and free flow of cocktail and beer for those who wear Fred Perry apparel. Singtel also offered gadget accessories, vouchers and passes if you can get it from the center of ice blocks :)

WILL: Fred Perry arranged this "Sub-Sonic" event to feature the new artists, so glad they have managed to do it herein Singapore. I am really fond of the styles and designs of the collection and that I decided not only to buy their products but also be a fan on their Facebook Page. My husband RSVP on this event and we are so blessed to be the lucky few who can make it on their list.
I can say, they are well prepared. 6:30PM the gate is open for their guests but we arrived 20mins earlier. We collected our tags and and our pins, and surprisingly, one of them approached us apologizing that we need to wait for some minutes. No worries at all. We saw a somewhat flock of the 1980s' motorcyclist wearing Fred Perry polo shirts. Awesome!
We walked our way to The Court and saw Singtel Iced advertisement. We went there just took a photo but the one of the promoter told us to participate on their "icy" game. Using water gun or anything that we can use except stones. Around 15 minutes gunning the thick ice, I managed myself to put my hand inside and grab the Singtel magazine and on that I won a $50.00 voucher, Abbey got a tickets for Zouk party.
Its time to listen to the new voices and music. You know what I expect? A party of wild drunken guys and gals, but I am so so wrong. Even the alcoholic drinks are bottomless, no one inside so intoxicated that initiated any riot. The teens keep their composure. They are just listening while enjoying every sip of beer and punch.
Hooray to Fred Perry. Oh, forgot to mention that they really prepared for this event, they have an ambulance just outside the gate. Thanks for the free ice cream 7th Heaven! Thanks to all the bands! More power Fred Perry!

(3D) Piranha 3DD

ABBEY: Another Piranha movie. I didn’t like the first one but I told myself to give it another try. Anyways, this is for free.

“The Big Wet” is a water park that opens in time for summer; offering leisure and “pleasure” for the patrons. Water is being pumped out into the nearby lake which alters the behavior of flesh-hungry piranha. Cameo role of David Hasselhoff and other slapsticks had me burst into laughter. Helpless victims tried to get out of the water fast to save their own lives. But little did they know that the fish started learning to “walk” J Compliments to the sexy ladies but not to the one who went under the knife.

WILL: Are you looking for a thriller, comedy, and love story film rolled in one? Well, this Piranha 3DD is not the film you are looking.
This movie is full of boobies and unreasonable storyline. I think the lesson to this is parents/elders should listen sometimes to younger people. 3/10.
Oh, Golden Village Pictures, thank you so much for the premiere night 3D tickets. :)

FHM Models 2012 Finale Night

ABBEY: We got VIP tickets for this event. The venue is at the TAB at Orchard Hotel. A separate queue for VIP were given (wow, this is great). It's different in the negative side because first we didn't get the voting stickers; second if Wilma did not ask for the Triumph goodie, she won't have it.

My DSLR was in the baggage counter as I was informed that NO DSLR will be used in the event except for the official photographers. As soon as the models walked the runway I saw 4-5 DSLRs taking snaps of the sexy ladies. I even asked one of the bouncers and replied that it can't be used (How's that?). Event started an hour behind the appointed time, but worth the wait when contestants 1,2,7 and wait are on the ramp. My bet is Melody; she got 2 awards (Paul Mitchell's Mane Event and Most Curvaceous body) but a rank shorter for the title. Two free drinks were given. TAB's fries tastes good also. We enjoyed our pose and pics in their photo booth courtesy of Foto Affairs. Congratulations, Jamie Ang.

WILL: I am one of the 5 very lucky winners of Durex Singapore Facebook contest and on that they gave me a pair of VIP ticket to TAB for FHM 2012 Finals.
We queued for almost half an hour, we got our four stabs for free cocktails/soft drinks and a stamp on our wrist. I got a small box of condom and a sample of Play O from Durex. Abbey was not given neither. Haha. Triumph gave every guest a bag with pamphlets, vouchers and an underwear mold in to a rose. Before entering the second floor, there is photobooth. We got two pictures of it. :) 2 steps away, there's board where you can vote for the girl you are rooting for, but hey people from the ticket booth do not gave us stickers for voting. Darn! Tsk! Oh, I am rooting for Kitty.
730-9:30pm is the stated time that was stated on the ticket but the show started only at 9pm. Its a cocktail style party, so obviously, no chairs. Imagine how hard to stand from 730-9pm on heels? I even saw some ladies just took off their shoes and stand barefoot. Ha! I sipped one cocktail and a soda, we ordered bottled water for $6 and the french fries is $8.
When the party started, all the boys get wild, and ahm, me too. Specially when Kitty hit the pole at the stage. Haha! I admire her attitude. She is so hot! Anyway, Jamie won the title, Melody the 1st runner up and my Kitty is the 2nd :(
Thanks Durex, this is an experience that we will never forget.

Men In Black 3

ABBEY: Wilma got excited when she saw the movie poster of MIB 3 in Shaw Theaters. We used our last pair of complimentary 3D tickets before it expires. Shaw theater hall 1 is very big. I didn't expect that cold but I found myself chilling as there were only a couple of people inside the hall.

As usual J and K have their job as bad alien terminator as to keep peace. But one villain, jailed by K a long time, escaped his Alcatraz and seeking revenge. The motorcycle is impressive: can't wait to see it run on the streets for real. I think that would be the last for MIB as the story between J and K came to a close.

WILL:  When I saw the first Men In Black, I really questioned myself and I really felt that living in Earth is unsafe. Haha! In short, MIB 1 really captured my mind and somewhat made me think the what ifs. What if I am the only human here in earth or in the other hand, I am the only alien. Weird isn't?
MIB 3 is not as exciting as the latter 2. 7/10. Thank you aliens, I mean Shaw Theaters for the complimentary 3D pass.

Dark Shadows

ABBEY: We watched this movie by using one pair of complimentary passes from Shaw Theaters. The story is about a family that built their riches from fishing. Barnabas (Johnny Depp), the child of the couple, fell in love with girl Angelique(Eva Green) but he didn't want to marry her. Barnabas found his love of his life Josette. Still not able to move on Angelique cursed him and the story goes on.

Depp nailed this one again with his wit and charm. "Every house has its own demon"

WILL: Another Tim Burton movie for Johnny Depp, great isn't? Dark Shadows is not that dark as what the title portrays.  A kid's film full of comedy and a simple love story.
A love story that proves that the heart cannot force to love someone.
My rating 8/10. Oh, Thank you to Shaw for the complimentary pass they given to us.

Titanic 3D

ABBEY: I was a sophomore then when the movie was first shown. I watched it not on the big screen but on a rented VHS tape. Yes, I'm old :) We won the 3D premiere screening twice. We gave the second pair of tickets to VA and Chat. Now I appreciate the movie and the story as well. It's not the cold that killed Jack, in my opinion, it's pasma :)

WILL: "I am the king of the world".. "Jack I want you to draw me like one of your French girls, wearing this. Wearing only this". Those were some of the famous lines of Titanic back in 90's. Now in celebrating the 100th year of the rise and immediate fall of the unsinkable ship they are offering the Titanic Movie in 3D.
Thanks to F*** Magazine and Twentieth Century Fox Singapore of sponsoring a premiere night tickets not for us couple alone but also to our two friends.
This is a drama, love story movie and a reality how the titanic crews taken for granted the power of icebergs. 10/10. Hurry! Watch it!

The Hunger Games

ABBEY:  From the time Wilma saw the movie trailer she wanted to watch it. We got a pair of tickets as a contest prize. The story is good as well as the acting. I think it resembles the Japanese movie Battle Royale where they force students to fight to the death until one remains. Anger, hope and love were depicted in the plot. Just can't imagine if Hunger Games will be real, I definitely wish to have the odds ever be on my favor.

WILL: The Hunger Games is a real craze on a big screen. I know this is from a trilogy novel. Thank you and happy birthday VA! hehe..
This movie is not a feel-good movie, not an action also, not a love-love story, I do not know where to categories this one but it gave a lesson how to bond with your family and how you will gain courage despite all the odds.
In this movie portrayed the ups and downs of life.. rich and poor. Rating? 7/10.

Mint - Museum of Toys

ABBEY: I'm checking my mail when this ad caught my attention from one of my subscriptions. They're offering Hearts' day special on their restaurant. One of the freebies is an entrance ticket to their museum which costs 15sgd for adults. The museum occupies the 5 storeys of the building. Collectibles like Beatles' figurines, superheroes (Batman, Superman, even Ultraman), cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop were displayed. Dolls from other countries like Japan, China, etc were also exhibited. Some toys are rare only 4 of them are left some only one and they are there in the museum. I enjoyed visiting their galleries especially the Match boxes.

WILL: Mint stands for Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys and Singapore have this kind of museum. It can be found at Seah St. Just alight at Esplanade MRT station and it is juts few steps away at the famous Raffles Hotel.
The Mint Museum made me to realize how old I am. Haha. Some of the toys in there was the famous ones on my childhood days. :)
$15 per head is the entrance fee but we got it free when we dine at Mr. Punch. Nice experience. About 1 hour and half you can see all the toys inside. :)

The Wedding Diary

ABBEY: We had a hard time to schedule watching this in silver screen. At last, we saw it one evening at Golden Village in Tampines Mall. The movie was great. We laughed for all the gags and also cried for the very touching moments. Truly, arranging a wedding is stressful; wedding date, pre-wedding arrangements, dinners, reception and honeymoon. But its very rewarding knowing that you will be with your loved one forever until death do you part.

WILL: Thanks Ladyfinger for not only sponsoring this movie but also sponsoring tickets for it. :)  Oh, thank you also for the the Wedding Notebook, maybe I will give this notebook to a friend who will get married. Hehe.
This movie is a feel-good movie. Love of different types were portrayed in this film. All I can say, be honest to your partner. Nice movie to watch! So many lessons and wedding customs here in Singapore to be learned.

John Carter

ABBEY
"I'm John Carter from Virginia" and he was named Virginia :) its a good movie. Time travel, ancient-futuristic weapons and the ability to jump very high. Action and special effects are also good as well as the punch lines of the characters as well as John's Barsoomian dog, Woola. I think I have a crush with the beautiful and brave Princess Dejah Thoris. A movie of braveness and true love.

WILL:  First and foremost, Happy Birthday Nuffnang and thank you to you and Disney Singapore for bringing this novel to the big screen. As any other fiction books I'd read, the first few pages will be quite boring and the story is so slow, but while you get in deeper, OMG, the real score is there!
An adventure and a love story in one. 9/10 :)

Man On A Ledge

ABBEY: I've watched "The Ledge" movie starring Liv Tyler and I thought this is a remake but its not. Its about an ex-cop who stood on a ledge and is planning to jump. Twist and truth will be known as the story unfolds. It is a good movie; keeping your heart pump fast and hands and feet sweating as if you'll gonna fall.

WILL: Thank you to F*** Magazine for this great privilege to be part of the people to watch this first in Singapore.I can say? this is a F*** goo movie. haha! Why, my heart seems to leap out of my chest.
Action packed movie. Love this kind of movie! Very recommendable! 10/10. :)

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

ABBEY:  It's a new year. We weren't expecting this gift; a pair of movie tickets for the gala premiere of Journey2: The Mysterious Island. And not only that, we watched the film in IMax. A great treat indeed. The movie was fast-paced and the effects were good. Mr. Gabato has his antics as well as grandpa and Hunk. They blend well with each other. Watch out for the tips from "The Rock".

WILL:  Weeeee! Good vibes it is! We won a ticket for 2 on a iMax theater, special thanks to F*** Magazine. :)
Journey 2 is a family oriented movie. Mom, dad and their teens can relate on this. This is a movie of adventure of the lost cities. For me, the story it will be 7/10 but the lesson 9/10.
Good job the Rock :)

NYDC

ABBEY: NYDC celebrate the holidays by giving 1 for 1 vouchers for their Christmas meals and ala cartes. We dined at the their branch in Wheelock Place . We opted to order ala cartes compared to other festive entrees as I'm 100% sure that my wife won't be able to finish it. The servings are big. Other meals are for bigger groups. Prices range from 29sgd to 98sgd. I got their Christmas ala carte "Catch of the day". It is halibut fillet with pesto cream. The fish is so flavorful and fresh. Side dishes includes steamed asparagus and carrots and mashed potato. My wife likes the potato because of its creaminess. Each ala carte comes with a Fizzy Drink, which keeps the other diners to look at our table and ask the staff what is our drink, and a slice of Choco/white logcake. Its been a Festive lunch for us :)

WILL: NYDC grants us a 1-for-1 treat for its festive meal sets. Well we do not get their hearty meal for a reason that we cannot finish that serving of 4 :D So we ended up munching up their ala carte meal!
I ordered their chicken meal. Chicken is nice but there is no something new. What I love with them? The side dishes! The asparagus, the carrots, the pumpkin and most specially their mashed potato! Hail to their mashed potato! As of now, this is the nest mashed potato I ever tried :D Its so smooth, creamy and sometimes tastes like a milk. D@mn good!Their logcakes, OMG! I want it in our fridge! That will be so nice with a tea!
Thanks NYDC! We will surely go back at their Wheelock branch at Orchard!
