Gordon Ramsay's Beef Wellington at Bread Street Kitchen Singapore

ABBEY: There’s only one item we want from Bread Street Kitchen: Beef Wellington. The item is right at the center of the menu. You definitely can’t miss it.

We ordered it immediately as we sat down as the waiting time is 45 minutes minimum. While waiting, we got ourselves a huge serving of fries. Then the golden brown log of beef arrived.

We paced as we eat and savor the beef. It was tender and juicy. Worth the wait and highly recommended. Cost: SGD168++.

WILL: I have tasted this dish when we were invited over by Abbey’s Boss for a dinner. As a fan of breads and pastries I somewhat got curious how the tagged as the best beef Wellington tasted. So on my birthday, being spontaneous, we walked-in at Bread Street Kitchen and ordered the famous dish.

We waited for almost an hour (yep they warned us) and while waiting we are nibbling on the fries that is perfectly paired with their tomato ketchup. So the main dish arrived and it is pretty huge for me and Abbey. The taste? Divine! Meat is tender and even it is medium cooked, you can’t smell not taste blood from the meat or pastry. The pastry is flaky, such a nice pair with the meat!

Oh yeah, even it is huge size, Abbey and I manage to eat it all. Haha-happy tummy! Will surely come back for more beef Wellington!

Louis Vuitton Series 3 Exhibition @ Marina Bay Sands

ABBEY: When somebody says or boasts that her bag is from Louis Vuitton, I can say "Wow that must cost a fortune". In current times, owning a branded merchandise means that you can afford a lot. But there are more factors than meet the eye. Louis Vuitton proved it on their exhibition "Louis Vuitton Series 3". The designers found and revived an old emblem found in the their trunk. The logo now has a circle around it.

Series 3 shows the collection of new designs where in fact they are "old". Old in a sense that the designs or patterns were already there but got missed for a long time like the trunk keyhole and diamond patterns.

They also presented how a handbag was made. Every stitch and overlay of the fabric is carefully done by the artists. Some of them flew to Singapore to show how its done. Simple tools were used to make them. Now I know why they cost a lot. It is for the effort and hardwork rendered to each of them.

WILL: After our date at DC Comics Cafe, we headed immediately to this Louis Vuitton Series 3 pop-up museum.

We were warmly welcomed by the staffs. The guided tour is very informative. From historic trunks to the fashion shows and to the 2 people originated from Paris just to show live how they do their handcrafts. Now, I know where they get the inspiration on the new line of Louis Vuitton. Yeahbah! Abbey also got an idea how will be my future closet look like. :)

Once we get out of that hall, I appreciate more the Louis Vuitton products. It is a work of art from the heart of many people working in those pieces for days, weeks or even months.

DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe - Marina Bay Sands

ABBEY: Wilma gave me a treat to celebrate the day we became BF/GF. It was on the DC Comics Cafe at the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Since it was all for royalty, the prices soared up compared to cafes offering the same items. Setting it aside, the experience is unique. The child in me is shouting for excitement. Sorry Batman, but Superman is my favorite.

I got a burger with nachos and iced chococinno. I liked the patty as it reminds me of the fillings of "lumpiang shanghai" we have back in Philippines. The bun has Superman's emblem as well as the drink. Nothing much difference from other Western restaurant. Beside the cafe are the novelty items for sale.

From time to time it is ok to splurge on those treats. :)

WILL: We are still celebrating our boyfriend/girlfriend anniversary even we are married. Are we considered crazy to do that? Haha.

I treated Abbey at DC Comics Cafe located just above at ice skating rink of Marina Bay Sands. Because of the free lunch in the office, I am very full and I cannot take another solid food. I am just there to sip a hot cup of tea and linger to the glorious face of my husband.

The food was served and my Abbey's face turned back to childhood. He relentlessly tell tales why he chose Superman rather than Batman. So, from that, you know what he ordered right? He ordered Superman's line of food.

I enjoyed the restaurant's very childish ambiance. Some of the patrons wore their fave characters' shirt while dining in there..clever.

Are we going back in there? Yep! I think so!

Todai Restaurant at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

ABBEY: Todai restaurant offers buffet of Korean, Chinese,  Japanese, and Singaporean cuisine. We visited them last March at The Shoppes@Marina Bay Sands along with our housemates.

As usual, we come at the exact time. Never waste a minute during buffets :)

As starter, I had chicken karaage and fries; the chicken was crispy and juicy. Next, I indulge in salmon sashimi and inari. Then I got some skinny pizza and pasta along with chunk of pork belly and slice of steak. The meat was juicy and moist. I repeated the process until I'm full :)

Since Todai is celebrating Korean Strawberry Festival when we doned in, we got a complimentary strawberry shake. One person costs 68sgd for a Sunday dinner with free flow of drinks.

WILL: Are you craving for sushi and yet your sweet tooth is kicking also? One plate or two serving will not satisfy your drooling? Todai will be the answer for you.

After Abbey bought his dream iPad mini on the first IT Show of 2014, we immediately headed to Todai to meet up our housemates for the dinner.

Hastily went for tempura. Then I attacked their sushi. They are the best.
The chefs really thought really hard for their masterpieces. Over and over and over, I ate those sushis. Haha. I also got one round of fresh oysters.

Hail to their great pyramid of macarons. I really make my tummy full of those and I partnered it with a tea.

Thanks to our housemates for inving us for a dinner. Till next, next month guys!

Marina Bay Sands' Painting with Light: Christmas Special

ABBEY: We went to the exhibit of Little Black Jacket at ArtScience Museum. At the lobby of the gallery was Painting by Light activity area.

In time for the holidays, it invites guests to design a Christmas tree decoration by cyanotype; a technique similar to developing a photo on a dark room. Individuals were given cardboard shape cutouts and they will choose for a design to be used. The template will be put over the card board and then expose to UV light. Marks like snowman, snowflakes and sleigh will be etched on the board. After rinsing, the finished product will be hanged on the tree.

Wishes can be written on the other side of the board.

WILL: After the awesome potrayals of different hollywood actors / actresses, models and known people of The Little Black Jacket, we went straight to Painting with Light just few steps away from the Chanel's exhibition room.

For free, we wrote down all our wishes. We use different kinds of designs and put it under the heat of a black light. After few more steps, the ornament came lovely in our eyes. We put it on at ArtScience Museum all-white tree. Very pleasing on my eyes.

It is my pleasure to take part on this Marina Bay Sands project.

TWG Tea Salon & Boutique

ABBEY: We planned numerous times to dine in this  tea shop at Marina Bay Sands but they never happened until we have spare time to wait for a fashion show. Since it will not start for a couple of hours, we went at TWG and sipped cups of tea.

I got strawberry-fusion tea. The aroma is good as well as the taste. No burnt and bitter after taste. A tea book was given to us and we read a lot of info about the leaves; from how it started, the trade until to the names of each tea and their uses.

WILL: I am an absolute lover of teas and once I saw the this TWG at Marina Bay Sands I told to myself that someday I wi be having a tea there.
Well, we have an extra budget to sip some tea there and yes my 2years wish was finally granted. Once we put our first foot on the steps, their waitress immediately greeted us and ushered to our seats. Oh, their chairs is very soft, it made me really a royalty that night. The man passed us the TWG tea book. Whoah! Shocked! Overwhelmed with information. This company was established here in Singapore and decades past of being port of trade, they saw every finest tea leaves from different countries and with expert knowledge they came of hundreds of concoction that will result in greatness.
Oh Darl, my heart is in heaven when they served my teapot. I ordered silver moon. The taste?, nothing ordinary. Very Delicious!

2012 WoMens Fashion Week - Japan Couture Evening

ABBEY: Wilma told me that we won a pair of ticket for the Fashion Week. This entitled us to attend one day of the event. We went there on a Friday and they showcased Japanese couture. Cocktails were served while waiting for the program to start. Each seat have a goodie bag that contains Cosmopolitan magazine and more. A couple of minutes and then the show started.

The models walked the ramp from casual to winter clothing. The collection is good. I took snaps the best I could as I'm seated in last row :) The show only lasted within 15 minutes but it was good and fashion-inspiring.

WILL: Cosmopolitan Singapore loves me a lot, how do I know? They love every woman who aspires to be  role model to each other. The love is overwhelming they let me to witness the Japan Couture Evening 2012 held at Marina Bay Sands.
We arrived early for 9pm so we took our dinner first and take some tea. When the clock hits 8:45pm we walked in to this build-up tent got our ticket and waited until the stage and the models are ready to hit the way. Anyway, while waiting, they entertained us by food and drinks. Champagne, wines, sodas, caviar, macaroons, nuts and a lot of pica-picas.
After the long wait they opened the black curtains and we hurriedly sat at our respective chairs and there a Cosmopolitan November issue waiting for us.
The show started as the red lights illuminate the area. The models ramped all the beautiful clothing from different brands that can be be bought at The Shoppes.
A great event to showcase the different styles that represents every personality. Again, a big kiss for Cosmopolitan Singapore.

1983 - A Taste of Nanyang

ABBEY: This "sosyal" hawker caters Indonesian, Malaysian and Western cuisines. It's located in Basement 1 of Marina Bay Sands Tower 1. At 6.80sgd, I had nasi lemak. The chicken serving is large and the rice is flavorful. The fish though is cold. It's as if it came from the fridge. Drink starts from 1.50sgd.

WILL: Who say that every restaurant at The Shoppes of Marina Bay Sands is expensive? Some don't want to roam around here because they say all the food outlets will costs them a minimum of $20 each. Except of the Rasapura Masters which is their version of hawker, you can also go to 1983 A Taste of Nanyang.
They offer our favorite Indonesian Cuisine, the nasi lemak. For only $6.50 you will have a big piece of chicken. a whole fish, and their very own special rice. So great that I always asked Abbey to dine in here whenever we were at MBS. value of money with a full tummy. :)

Sky on 57 Breakfast Buffet

ABBEY: After a good night sleep at a very homey room in Marina Bay Sands, we headed to level 57 for breaking the fast. We were given a good seat by their beautiful staff, Jennie ( I don't know if I spelled her name right). I indulge myself on bacon and eggs ( egg benedict, ).

I also tried their pasta, fried rice and congee. Indeed, it was a good morning; waking up with your loved one and together spending time for breakfast. A buffet costs 38sgd++ including drinks.

WILL: Every hotel I stayed, I am always looking forward to breakfast buffet that they will offer to their guests. But breakfast in Marina Bay Sands room rate is not included. After Abbey heard that he immediately asked me to make a reservation to The Rise, since we experienced the buffet dinner here courtesy of my boss in Rejoice Container, a really unforgettable free dinner.

We experienced The Rise buffet and I am up to another experience, so I want to dine overlooking the bay and the busy port of Singapore so I chose to dine here at Sky 57. I am an enthusiast of import/export, I love to see cargo ships sailing, transtrainer busy loading and discharging the container, and it will be a great view for me if we eat-in at Sky on 57.
For $38++ you can savor the very delectable egg benedict and tonokotsu ramen, croissants "croque madam", cappuccino and hot chocolate (available by order). On the table, your eyes and tummy can feast with the crispy bacons, breads, sausages, every fruits you can imagine, salad, cheeses, and even the yogurt.
From 7AM to 10AM you can sit there and fill in your stomach with their delights. Salute to their lovely and very approachable waiter and waitresses.
Thanks Sky on 57, you made our MBS staycation really unforgettable.
