Jollibee Singapore

ABBEY: Who wouldn't take a bite to a langhap-sarap Jollibee Chicken Joy? For us, every  come-back visit to Philippines we will always find a time to dine at any Jollibee store. That's why the buzz was all over Singapore when the news of opening a Jollibee branch hit the city-state. According to older Filipino expats, back then Jollibee was already here but was closed due to lack of market as they say.

I was almost have gone to its opening day but it was a good decision not to as the queue is very long and the minimum wait time is 3 hours. Finally on Easter Sunday as we remit money back to Pinas we got our chance to visit the "busiest bee".

In the front door, I posed with Jollibee and it made me feel like a child again :) we got two 2-piece Chicken Joy, spaghetti, chocolate sundae and Champ; all for little more than 30sgd :) Each bite put a thousand flavor in my mouth. It is as if we're back home for an hour; the place is homey and hasn't lost its Pinoy touch.

WILL: How famous is Jollibee in Philippines? Well, some mall housed two of branches just to accommodate the people who wants to enjoy the "langhap-sarap" foods that they offered.
Lucky Plaza in Orchard is indeed lucky to cater the first branch of Jollibee here in Singapore. Filipinos really love and missed the tasty servings of this fast food chain, that you must queue for 1-2 hours to enjoy the food.
We went there last March early morning 930am I already in line and waited for half an hour to be served. Like there is no tomorrow, I asked for 2 orders of 2-pc chickenjoy, 1 spaghetti, 1 champ burger and 1 chocolate sundae. Very sad that the Jolli-hotdogs were finished.
Gosh, like a child, Abbey and I bit the chicken with joy. The fries is really lovely.
It feels that we were back in our childhood, very happy to see Jollibee's statue in foreign land, I asked Abbey to strike a pose!
We will surely be coming back for more langhap-sarap experience!

1983 - A Taste of Nanyang

ABBEY: This "sosyal" hawker caters Indonesian, Malaysian and Western cuisines. It's located in Basement 1 of Marina Bay Sands Tower 1. At 6.80sgd, I had nasi lemak. The chicken serving is large and the rice is flavorful. The fish though is cold. It's as if it came from the fridge. Drink starts from 1.50sgd.

WILL: Who say that every restaurant at The Shoppes of Marina Bay Sands is expensive? Some don't want to roam around here because they say all the food outlets will costs them a minimum of $20 each. Except of the Rasapura Masters which is their version of hawker, you can also go to 1983 A Taste of Nanyang.
They offer our favorite Indonesian Cuisine, the nasi lemak. For only $6.50 you will have a big piece of chicken. a whole fish, and their very own special rice. So great that I always asked Abbey to dine in here whenever we were at MBS. value of money with a full tummy. :)

Singapore Refuel Package - KFC Rice

ABBEY: Back in Philippines it is a "gravy" feast on a hot rice whenever we order a chicken meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken. So we were ecstatic knowing the KFC Singapore is starting to serve chicken with rice. They only have chicken with mashed potato when I got here.

The rice meals come in two sauce; spicy tomato and original recipe sauce. We went to their branch at Punggol Plaza. I gave a huge smile on the cashier upon receiving my two orders of rice delights. Sadly, Joy, oh the irony in her name, didn't return it back. Maybe she's just having a bad day. That didn't deter me to enjoy a box of chicken and rice with cucumber and gravy at 5.95 each. It tastes great. The crunchiness of the chicken with the flavorful gravy and hot rice complement well. It is so good that we even took out one more meal. KFC also offers rice on their 2-piece chicken meal. It's great KFC Rice started here.

WILL: KFC Philippines offers rice together with the chicken and gravy to match, when it started?, that information I do not know, but that combo just introduced here in Singapore last week.
Gil posted a picture in his facebook wall then Abbey scheduled a breakfast just near our place. I immediately conform the idea, why?, because having breakfast is a lot sweeter than having a dinner with your loved one. ;)
Entering the KFC branch at Punggol Plaza, we hurriedly ordered 2 sets with free green tea. Gosh, this is it. Eating out in KFC just like we were doing back home. It is so yummy we took one more set meal home. ;) Way to go KFC! Cheers!
