(3D) Piranha 3DD

ABBEY: Another Piranha movie. I didn’t like the first one but I told myself to give it another try. Anyways, this is for free.

“The Big Wet” is a water park that opens in time for summer; offering leisure and “pleasure” for the patrons. Water is being pumped out into the nearby lake which alters the behavior of flesh-hungry piranha. Cameo role of David Hasselhoff and other slapsticks had me burst into laughter. Helpless victims tried to get out of the water fast to save their own lives. But little did they know that the fish started learning to “walk” J Compliments to the sexy ladies but not to the one who went under the knife.

WILL: Are you looking for a thriller, comedy, and love story film rolled in one? Well, this Piranha 3DD is not the film you are looking.
This movie is full of boobies and unreasonable storyline. I think the lesson to this is parents/elders should listen sometimes to younger people. 3/10.
Oh, Golden Village Pictures, thank you so much for the premiere night 3D tickets. :)

Men In Black 3

ABBEY: Wilma got excited when she saw the movie poster of MIB 3 in Shaw Theaters. We used our last pair of complimentary 3D tickets before it expires. Shaw theater hall 1 is very big. I didn't expect that cold but I found myself chilling as there were only a couple of people inside the hall.

As usual J and K have their job as bad alien terminator as to keep peace. But one villain, jailed by K a long time, escaped his Alcatraz and seeking revenge. The motorcycle is impressive: can't wait to see it run on the streets for real. I think that would be the last for MIB as the story between J and K came to a close.

WILL:  When I saw the first Men In Black, I really questioned myself and I really felt that living in Earth is unsafe. Haha! In short, MIB 1 really captured my mind and somewhat made me think the what ifs. What if I am the only human here in earth or in the other hand, I am the only alien. Weird isn't?
MIB 3 is not as exciting as the latter 2. 7/10. Thank you aliens, I mean Shaw Theaters for the complimentary 3D pass.

LA CHANCE DE MA VIE (SECOND CHANCE)

ABBEY: This movie was released in 2009 and got a screening here in Singapore. It a French movie about Julien, a very good marriage counsellor.

He fixes all the marriage problems (as he thought so) but can't maintain a relationship with his girlfriend. Not that he's a playboy or immature but every girl experienced bad luck once hooked up with him. He got used to not have any chick until he met Joanna. He has a hard time getting it working as Joanna almost lost her career. This a good rom-com type and will make you think that love still conquers all. Merci :)

WILL: Bad luck turns into golden possibilities. Sometimes bad happenings knew also the quotation that "When it rains, it pours".  The story is quite nice and the ending is predictable. 7/10.
Thanks a lot to InCinemas for our complimentary pair of ticket and FilmGarde Cineplex. More power to you guys!

Dark Shadows

ABBEY: We watched this movie by using one pair of complimentary passes from Shaw Theaters. The story is about a family that built their riches from fishing. Barnabas (Johnny Depp), the child of the couple, fell in love with girl Angelique(Eva Green) but he didn't want to marry her. Barnabas found his love of his life Josette. Still not able to move on Angelique cursed him and the story goes on.

Depp nailed this one again with his wit and charm. "Every house has its own demon"

WILL: Another Tim Burton movie for Johnny Depp, great isn't? Dark Shadows is not that dark as what the title portrays.  A kid's film full of comedy and a simple love story.
A love story that proves that the heart cannot force to love someone.
My rating 8/10. Oh, Thank you to Shaw for the complimentary pass they given to us.

The Avengers

ABBEY: This is the movie that we anticipated the most. Six superheroes in one after 5-6 movies of their own. We booked our 3D ticket at Shaw Theaters in JCube. We got to see the movie in Digital and also got a complimentary 3d pass as the 3D got into some problems.

Nonetheless, we enjoyed the show. RDJ's comic and wit never fails to bring laughter; as well as his hi-tech gadgets. Great effects and sounds made the movie more exciting. Like the other Marvel movies, people were still glued to their seats to watch a scene after credits.

WILL: The long wait was finally over. Hehe. May 1 is the opening day here in Singapore but before that day, all tickets were sold out.
We booked a ticket for a 3D for 10am at JCube Mall but very unlikely happening occurred, the 3D machine was spoiled. Huhu. Anxiety hits me, why?, my older brother is here and my niece and they were really anticipating this movie to be watched in 3D. Well, its better to watch than to go home. We rescheduled our time to 11am for digital movie.
The Avengers, ha! Very nice to see many heroes in one movie. Hehe. I really watched. My favorite character.. of course Iron Man, BUT I love Capt. America. Hehe.
I can watch this movie again and again =) 10/10.

What Happens in Vegas

ABBEY: What happens in Vegas will haunt you down when you live your normal life :) That's what happened to the couple in the movie. After the hangover they want a divorce not until Jack won the 3-million jackpot in slot machine by putting Joy's quarter. Both sides want to have a cut in the pie and outwitting each other to have it whole. The rest is history. Good acting by Cameron and Ashton as well as their sidekicks.

WILL: This is the movie that was shown to us at Romancing U Movie Night. Its all about two person who fell in love despite of all the differences and of money.
Ratings? 7/10.

The Hunger Games

ABBEY:  From the time Wilma saw the movie trailer she wanted to watch it. We got a pair of tickets as a contest prize. The story is good as well as the acting. I think it resembles the Japanese movie Battle Royale where they force students to fight to the death until one remains. Anger, hope and love were depicted in the plot. Just can't imagine if Hunger Games will be real, I definitely wish to have the odds ever be on my favor.

WILL: The Hunger Games is a real craze on a big screen. I know this is from a trilogy novel. Thank you and happy birthday VA! hehe..
This movie is not a feel-good movie, not an action also, not a love-love story, I do not know where to categories this one but it gave a lesson how to bond with your family and how you will gain courage despite all the odds.
In this movie portrayed the ups and downs of life.. rich and poor. Rating? 7/10.

The Wedding Diary

ABBEY: We had a hard time to schedule watching this in silver screen. At last, we saw it one evening at Golden Village in Tampines Mall. The movie was great. We laughed for all the gags and also cried for the very touching moments. Truly, arranging a wedding is stressful; wedding date, pre-wedding arrangements, dinners, reception and honeymoon. But its very rewarding knowing that you will be with your loved one forever until death do you part.

WILL: Thanks Ladyfinger for not only sponsoring this movie but also sponsoring tickets for it. :)  Oh, thank you also for the the Wedding Notebook, maybe I will give this notebook to a friend who will get married. Hehe.
This movie is a feel-good movie. Love of different types were portrayed in this film. All I can say, be honest to your partner. Nice movie to watch! So many lessons and wedding customs here in Singapore to be learned.

John Carter

ABBEY
"I'm John Carter from Virginia" and he was named Virginia :) its a good movie. Time travel, ancient-futuristic weapons and the ability to jump very high. Action and special effects are also good as well as the punch lines of the characters as well as John's Barsoomian dog, Woola. I think I have a crush with the beautiful and brave Princess Dejah Thoris. A movie of braveness and true love.

WILL:  First and foremost, Happy Birthday Nuffnang and thank you to you and Disney Singapore for bringing this novel to the big screen. As any other fiction books I'd read, the first few pages will be quite boring and the story is so slow, but while you get in deeper, OMG, the real score is there!
An adventure and a love story in one. 9/10 :)

Man On A Ledge

ABBEY: I've watched "The Ledge" movie starring Liv Tyler and I thought this is a remake but its not. Its about an ex-cop who stood on a ledge and is planning to jump. Twist and truth will be known as the story unfolds. It is a good movie; keeping your heart pump fast and hands and feet sweating as if you'll gonna fall.

WILL: Thank you to F*** Magazine for this great privilege to be part of the people to watch this first in Singapore.I can say? this is a F*** goo movie. haha! Why, my heart seems to leap out of my chest.
Action packed movie. Love this kind of movie! Very recommendable! 10/10. :)

Frozen Planet

ABBEY:
This BBC documentary is an eye-opener for the people to appreciate nature's beauty of both pole regions.

It tackles the seasons and how the animals and people adapt to it.
Every animal, like whales, penguins, seals, and birds showed different ways to live and how to survive. Polar bears, winter wolves, and oxen were featured as well.

It also shows the effect of global warming on the continents and its a very serious matter. We need to do our part to save our last frontier.

At the end of each episode the documentary show the scenes behind the camera.

Its a big challenge for the crew and staff to wait for the perfect moment to catch the action in temperature and weather that can put them to death instantly.

A big salutations for them. David Attenborough gave a good story as he does the narration.

WILL: I am so foolish that I all I know at the north and south pole were covered by ice all year round. Damn! Tangang-tanga lang ako. Wahaha.
I think all creatures here were all so cute, even the wolves and the prawns and jellyfish.
Very alarming to know that the ice now at Antarctic and Arctic ate now melting so fast. Fast enough that the scientist assumes that we can see a mass of land instead of snow here in 2020. Shocks that's only eight years from now.
I think now there is no prevention for this problem. This two continents holds a lot of resources that's why there many countries wants to have this to be their own.
I don't know but i big part of me loves nature and to come this to my knowledge saddens me. Thanks BBC for this kind of exposition and exploration. I hope we can lessen the greenhouse effect and live a happier, greener life.

Underworld - Awakening

ABBEY:
This is the fourth installment of the series. And now the two immortal clans are not just trying to outlast each other but to protect also from a new enemy: the humans. The lycans found a way in which they can be immune on silver and became stronger and powerful. The movie also showed the fruit of Michael and Selene. The child looks like an character in a horror movie when she transforms. Effects are great. Kate still proves that she's hot :)

WILL: This is the genre of vampire-werewolf that I like. Well, honestly I saw this film from the very first one and quite shocked to know that there is number two. But here I am, continues to support the every upcoming movie. Love this Underworld Awakening. Every second of it. Hehe. Hmmm I'll give 10/10 for this. :)

Wicked

ABBEY: Honestly I thought this was a fashion show. I don’t know why I think like that. That’s why I was surprised when Wilma told me that she wanted to see the show. I haven’t known that she likes to attend show for clothes. Then she explained that it’s a musical. Curious, I checked in the net and found out that it’s the unofficial prequel for the Wizard of Oz.

We got a pair of ticket for 296sgd and it can be upgraded for free. Unfortunately, the day we watched it was a Sunday and the theater is full. Our seat is good. We had a good view of the performance. The actors were excellent and they performed very well. Lights and sounds as well as the stage props and background also helped to give the viewers a good show.
This musical deserves standing ovation, praises and applaud.

WILL: Abbey knew how deep my enthusiasm about the wizard of oz movie. How deep? I asked him to find a certain movie version. That's the movie that I watched rented at VideoCity by my brother and the film that keeps running on my mind until now. Actually, sometimes I dreamed about it. Hehe.
I planned to watch but the ticket is quite expensive $165 and with this failing eyes, i really need to be in center so I can watch them clearly. But Abbey surprised me for this play. I love to watch plays but since I went off to work for a living, I have money to spare but no time for such leisure. :(
Wicked is untold story of the witches and emerald city before the twister twisted Dorothy to this magical land. :) You will laugh a lot and you will know deeply how this wicked witch sacrifices a lot why she became what she is.
Really love this! :) thanks baby! Mmmwahz!

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

ABBEY:  It's a new year. We weren't expecting this gift; a pair of movie tickets for the gala premiere of Journey2: The Mysterious Island. And not only that, we watched the film in IMax. A great treat indeed. The movie was fast-paced and the effects were good. Mr. Gabato has his antics as well as grandpa and Hunk. They blend well with each other. Watch out for the tips from "The Rock".

WILL:  Weeeee! Good vibes it is! We won a ticket for 2 on a iMax theater, special thanks to F*** Magazine. :)
Journey 2 is a family oriented movie. Mom, dad and their teens can relate on this. This is a movie of adventure of the lost cities. For me, the story it will be 7/10 but the lesson 9/10.
Good job the Rock :)

The Darkest Hour

ABBEY: This movie got a lot of nod from me whenever I fall asleep. I don't know if I'm just tired when I watched the movie or the story made me bored. Its about alien-invasion; you can't see the enemy (ring any bell?). While hiding from them you came to know that there are submarines in specific places which finds survivor (Hello, Resident Evil). As usual there will be a person who will lose his mind as he can't handle the situation. Effects are not that good either. I gave it one of five.

WILL: Out of the blue, Abbey asked me if we can watch movie. That was holiday then, so our Mr. Popcorn will not be honored for discount that's why I am hesitant. Hehe. But he wants it, all i can do is to accompany him.
Chat is keep in predicting the next scene and she is always right. Haha. Me, I cant help myself to prevent from yawning, but I think I yawn more than 20. Haha! Worst, I saw Abbey sleeping. Predictable, slow pace, and boring. 3/10.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

ABBEY: Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law pulled it again. They have a good chemistry as the two detectives that solved the case against Dr. Moriarty. They played their characters well. Action, comedy, mystery, great effects - satisfaction to the viewers. Sherlock seemed to have trouble in his monologue because the villain also "joins" in his mind. Bravo, Mr. Holmes!

WILL: I love SH not only in big screen but also on books. Fond of reading this kind of stories. Well, sherlock Holmes is the greatest investigator/detective the fiction world that can tell.
This second movie... this is more wackier haha. 9/10. Thanks a lot SweetHoneyDeals for the movie voucher. ;)

My Week with Marilyn

ABBEY: I never knew Marilyn this much after watching the movie. All the while, for me, she's the blond sexy girl in white dress and has very red lips that appears in black and white films, magazines, movie posters etc.

I must not forget about the prominent mole. The movie is about creating a movie starring Marilyn. It showed how the way she acts inside and outside the sets and why she is acting like that. She was hailed wherever she goes and people flock to see her or have an autograph signed. But just like other celebrities she's struggling to live her life that's full of pressure and fame.

WILL: Marilyn is an American actress, singer, model, and the sex symbol for 1950's. I knew her name but not her works and this my week Marilyn is a nice venture to let the younger people who is Ms. Marilyn Monroe.
My Week with Marilyn is based on a true story of man who fell in love with Ms. Monroe. This movie has no special effects and I think Michelle Williams portrays the role perfectly. ;) 9/10.
      Thanks to Golden Village Pictures

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

ABBEY: Wow, another M.I. movie. I want to watch this to see the gadgets used in the film. Tom Cruise nailed it again as Ethan for the mission to be successful. My feet and hands became sweaty as he climbed Burj Khalifa. What amazed me the most is the BMW car. I've seen the replica of it displayed in Suntec Convention Center before the movie was shown in theaters. I thought I can only see that model of car in racing games. That was great. Just as the other M.I. movies the plot is simple but the effects are great.

WILL:  When the woman lit the light, ha!, all memories keep pouring. Me and my dad is a avid fan of this series. Those were the days. Omg! I miss him.
Ok, enough for going back, Mission Impossible is a great movie. A blockbuster indeed. Impossible for ordinary people but possible for agents with a great expertise and right gadgets.
9/10. This is my kind of movie.

Amazing Race Season 19

ABBEY: This is another exciting season for the Amazing Race. I rooted for the snowboarders, who placed first on 6 six legs, but they had a hard time in Panama. You can never tell who will win on each leg unless Phil will check them in; even stepping first on the mat is not a guarantee.

Another interesting pair is the grandparents, Bill and Cathi. At their age they managed to climb a rock wall, put a bed in their shoulders and carry it for a couple of kilometers, and run as hard as they could to keep up with other teams. It's an achievement.

And as for the winners of the season, Ernie and Cindy, congratulations. This couple almost became the first place on certain legs but ran out of steam before the pit stop. Good thing that on the finals, they had kept their pace and reached the stop first and won the million dollars. Great season indeed!

WILL: I am rooting for the snowboarders, Andy & Tommy. They are very incredible, the luck is almost always on their side... until elimination for the final three.
The control freak, Cindy and Ernie won this season the million dollars. Even they are not my favorite, they really are a cute couple. They managed to laugh and be cool on different and unexpected situations.
I also give credit to Bill and Cathi. They are wonderful oldies. They gave us a great show and proved that age doesn't matter to those challenges. They have this wisdom, patience and great will to finish the legs of every race.
Looking forward to Season 20! More power to Amazing Race!

Inbetweeners

ABBEY:  We won the premiere tickets one month back. They were distributed on the night of the premiere. As advised and rated the movie will contain nudity and offensive language so its for grown-ups. It lines up with the movies like American Pie and Road Trip.

The movie is about four guys that graduated recently from high school and preparing themselves in college. Before heading to college they went for a vacation/holiday. On this vacation their adventures and misadventures happened. The guys' antics were hilarious. They were very funny. It's a good movie to laugh your heart out.

WILL: First, thanks again Incinemas.sg for this great opportunity to see this premiere night. I got four tickets, isn't great?
We went at GV Plaza Singapura to see this film. And yes, there some explicit scene and languages. This is a story of four friends who looks for something new. Haha! 5/10.
