Value Fares with Vietnam Airlines | Singapore - Ho Chi Minh - Danang - Singapore

ABBEY: Going to Vietnam? Try their flag carrier. That’s what we did. We booked our return flights: Singapore to Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang. We got notified that our Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh flight will be moved to an earlier schedule. But they made up for it (after asking them) by giving us lounge access while waiting for our Singapore-bound plane. And they assisted once we were in the airport.

There is enough leg room for me and very comfortable during the flights. However we encounter delays going to Vietnam. The food is nice but the moment that is memorable is when they gave us a couple of complimentary cold Vietnamese coffee on our way to Da Nang and with a note; very touching and we appreciate it.

WILL: On my online search, I have noticed that Vietnam has its budget airline and some of it says that it is the cheapest plane ride they had. I was enticed… who wouldn’t be? But upon reading the reviews I decided to go for Vietnam Airlines.

We booked our return Singapore-Ho Chi Minh-Danang flight 2months ahead of our scheduled vacation and yet weeks before the actual flight, Abbey received a change that will somewhat force us to wake up early and stay for 5hours in the airport. Abbey requested for a complimentary access in their lounge and without hesitation they granted the request.

Happy to see that their seat offers enough legroom and their food is pretty fulfilling. The HCM to DAD flight attendants had given us a heartfelt message and a couple of iced coffee. That is the queue that are vacation really started and that is the best coffee we had in all of our plane ride! Wohooo!!

Planes were clean, customer service is extremely helpful and stewards are warm and caring. This plane is totally recommendable!

SilkAir Asia's Most Awarded Regional Airline - Singapore - Siem Reap - Singapore

ABBEY: Silk Air flew us from Singapore to Cambodia and back. We landed safely after a 2-hour flight. I feel comfortable in my seat specially my legs. :)

There are less passengers in the return trip thus we have more room for ourselves. Food is good and the staff attended to us to their best.

Singapore - Siem Reap - Singapore

WILL: SilkAir is a subsidiary of Singapore Air, and because they are related, as usual, sometimes they are way cheaper than the budget airlines if you hit a promotion or you booked 60 days early.

We booked our roundtrip plane from Singapore to Siem Reap. 30kgs baggage and food is included. A very reasonable price of SGD294.40 per pax

The plane do not have its own tv per seat but they do have an app that you can connect while in plane and watch a movie or tv series. Food serving is small and not that tasty. I do not complain, better to have one than nothing at all. Hehe. Seat color looks untidy. Hope they will change their color theme.

Great flight. ❤️

Emirates (Singapore - Dubai - Singapore)

ABBEY: We flew with Emirates Airlines for our trip to Dubai for Gitex Technology Week. The aircraft was Boeing 777-300 and it was huge. It was an 8-hour flight but I didn’t get bored with inflight entertainment of new movies, TV shows and documentaries. The food was also nice. I got salad, chili chicken, omellete and fish curry.
I was asked to stop filming upon I entered the plane.

There is a funny thing that happened when we checked in for our flight back to Singapore. We asked for aisle seats. Silly me, I made it plural so me and Wilma got two different seats. So we told that we only want one aisle seat. Turned out that Kathleen (Emirate staff at the counter in DBX for 7:45AM flight) gave us a window seat. Haha.

The landing is superb as I didn’t feel that the wheels already touched the ground.

WILL: Emirates! Wow! One of the prestigious airline in the world. Again, thank you NEM for giving this opportunity to be onboard in this plane.

Emirates entertainment gave us a wide variety of choices. From Bollywood to Hollywood, to Filipino and European movies, cartoons, games and even live news! Oh darn! There are documentaries! Good job ICE!

Service is excellent! Why? I didn’t send them a request, I am assuming that they will have a fish meal. Voila! They only offered beef and chicken on the flight from Singapore. So, I requested a vegetarian meal. The flight attendant went back with bowl of salad. Haha! I have this positive feeling, that came from first class cabin. Haha! Thanks Emirates!

The seat is comfortably nice. Do not hesitate to recline the seat, it won’t bother the passenger behind you. There is enough legroom for my husband too!

Thanks Emirates. Hope to be your passenger again!

Malindo Air (Kuala Lumpur - Singapore)

ABBEY: Malindo is a Malaysian airline and it is our airline of choice going back to Singapore after a short stint at Kuala Lumpur. The flight is short; only an hour but our plane I think reached Singapore 45 minutes :)

With the minimum travel time, in-flight entertainment is there. I finished two episodes of a television series.

WILL: Malindo (Malaysia and Indonesia) Air promotes a very attractive airfare from KL to Singapore.

For only $43.38 for two pax, we got a seat with reasonable leg room, an in-flight entertainment, but... I expect that there will be a food on board and they only serve us a cup of juice. Sad! Flight for 60minutes and below, they will only offer you a drink. Aww!

Anyways, I had an enjoyable flight! Till we meet again, Malindo Air!

Korean Air (Singapore - Chicago - Singapore)

ABBEY: Korean Air is our airline of choice for our US trip (Chicago). The almost 24-hour flight was made comfortable by the attendants. Blanket, pillow, and slippers and toothbrush were already in our seats upon boarding.

Food like bibimbap and chicken with carrots and brocolli were served. They were delicious and can be partnered  with soda, white or red wine, beer, tea or coffee. We got aisle seats and they have enough legroom for a tall guy like me.

The attendants were polite, ready to serve and always wear a smile. We were a little bit over our baggage allowance but was able to check them in without additional fee.

Speaking of, all our luggages have cracks after the flight. I don't know if this is the trade off when not paying for extra kilos or only a case of mishandling.

All in all the flight experience is great. I hope we can be bumped up to business class on our next trip.

Our Damage Luggages After Our Korean Air Flight :(

WILL: Korean Air launched a massive advertising here in Singapore. Their billboards are everywhere. They even have commercial in YouTube. Persuaded by cheap fare and advertisement, we opted to board their plane for our Singapore-Chicago-Singapore (SIN-ORD-SIN).

We went for an early check-in at Changi Terminal 2 for us to roam around inside the World's Best Airport. Yes! There is an early check-in available.

Upon boarding, we were greeted by beautiful and handsome stewards of KE-?!?. It is a night flight and upon seating my eyes immediately shut down. Sorry! Haha! When we are about to land at Incheon Airport, I managed to woke up when they are distributing juices/water. One of the flight crew smilingly ask if I want my in-flight meal. Still groggy, I just took an orange juice and water and replied back "No." with a smile.

We alighted my first Korean Air flight and shocked to know that there is super long queue for security checking for transferring passengers. It took us an hour to pass those x-ray machines.

After a 3-hour lounging at Asiana Business Lounge, we went back for our flight to our destination. Flight number was KE-???. We were abundantly served with food and juices. Their light was fully turned off and will make you feel sleepy. Yes, I slept for more than half of our flight. Haha! And I ate all the food they served this time.

Nothing special on our way back to Singapore except that Korean Air didn't distribute a pouch that contains toothbrush and disposable slippers on our Incheon-Changi flight. You can find the toothbrush at lavatory.

So what can I say for Korean Air! Kudos for the job well done by your stewards and smooth landing and take-offs done by pilot. But I have a complain to highlight.

3 out of four luggages were damaged. This is the first time it happened in our years of travelling. I can accept one damage but hey! Three?! Seriously?

We discovered when we reached Chicago that the big and small plastic luggage have a crack. A huge line of crack. I let that passed way, when we're unpacking our things here in Singapore, I found out that one of bags were slashed. An enormous slash. And my head erupted that time like a volcano. That is unacceptable. But I choose my coolness and rather chose my peace.

I hope you will seek answer to this complaint. I get it, you give an extraordinary care with the passengers and I do hope you that too in our belongings.

Will we board the Korean Air again? Well, I am not so sure.

SriLankan Airlines (Singapore - Male/Maldives - Singapore)

ABBEY: SriLankan Airlines was our airline going to Maldives and back. The route was from Singapore to Colombo, Sri Lanka to Male, Maldives.

We were able to board a couple of different aircraft model during our round trip. The staffs were all-smiles, greeting and assisting passengers as they board. The meal is good; enough to satisfy my hunger. I was even surprised that the chicken satay are still in the skewers. They have movie on board, but we have a couple of our flights where the monitor is not working.

They have cameras below and behind the plane and on that you can watch the plane take off, and check what's below while up in the air. It was a first for me.

One thing I keep wondering is that why they are spraying some kind of anti-bacterial or deodorizer when we landed to Sri Lanka and Maldives. It is an aerosol and I think they empty 2 cans each per aisle. What's the use of that? Good thing me and Wilma don't have asthma.

Anyways, thanks SriLankan Airlines for flying us.

WILL: I am always excited to board planes that are flag carriers of different countries. From Philippine Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines.. I am ecstatic and thrilled how they are engaging with their passengers. Now, on our Maldives Anniversary Celebration we tried Sri Lankan Airline.

We were greeted warmly by the crews of. The movies in the plane are superb, but I do not enjoy their breakfast meal (omelette) but they take pride in their Ceylon tea.

On our flight from Colombo to Male, I fell in love with their huge plane. Of course, the seats are more comfortable and it seems new. The meal is superb. I ate it all but passed on dessert.

On our way home. From Male to Colombo my monitor was spoiled and it seems that it is a just usual thing for them. I never heard any apologies from them nor any gestures of regret for that case. Since I am sleepy, after I ate my chicken meal, I snooze immediately and forget about the monitor.

Then, the same plane we boarded going to Singapore. We mistakenly sat at 9E & 9F. I am shocked that the window seat has no armrest (right side). Then, someone called our attention and told us that it is his place, we got up and inquired the attendants what is our real seat since our ticket indicated is 9. Upon checking, we should be at 19. Whew! Bye faulty chair.

On row 19, Abbey is lucky to have a monitor that is defected. We immediately called the attendants attention and again, she informed us to press the power button for 20seconds. Again, we have done it for many times but to no avail. The attendant never got back to us to check if we already get what we want. For us not to wreck up our happy mood, we passed this issue again. And decided to sleep instead.

Now, I know that not all flag carriers are same as the others. I will take note of this problem we encountered with this airline. I always remember.

Singapore Airlines (Singapore - Manila - Singapore)

ABBEY: We've been going back and forth Singapore and Philippines but this is the first time we'll be flying Singapore Airlines(together). Yes, it is the fare cost. But in our April trip, the SQ airline fare is lower compare to others because of their 25th anniversary promo thus we grabbed the opportunity.

Our seats are the economy super saver ones. It includes hot towel, in-flight entertainment, blanket and pillow, and a complete meal.
I enjoyed every aspect of  the flight. The meals are delicious for the 2-way trip (main course as well as dessert). In-flight entries include the latest movies but I chose to watch Space Jam and Tom and Jerry. Haha.

The attendants are warm, friendly and always smiling.
One thing can be improved though, I think the pilots can still enhance their skills in landing the "big" bird well.

WILL: I am a s@cker for deals on anything I will buy. I always plan ahead, as in ahead as 1 year but our plan to go home last April is not giving me a nice prices until January. I am pretty disappointed that time, I still wait and *babam!* Singapore Airline hollers for it seat sale! Wohhooo! It only costs us S$468.40 for two pax - two way. SIN-MNL-SIN. It includes 30kgs check-in luggage and 10kgs hand-carry.

Abbey's first time at the Singapore's flag carrier and he immediately saw the difference of the service brought to him by one of the best airline in the world. :)

On check-in, there is no queue! As in no queue! We are not that early but the service in check-in counter is efficient. In boarding the plane, attendants gleefully greet the passengers. They assist non-stop for the luggages. Once all are seated, the hot hand towels were distributed...whew...relaxing!

On distributing the food, you can not pissed-off the attendants by mere ordering too much drinks. Haha! After meal, they will all smile, get the trays and you will hear from them "How was your meal?".

When you are on shorts, they will offer their blankets. I had a restful slumber because of their pillow, blanket and the movie I am "listening" into. Haha.

This is one of Singapore's Pride! No doubt why they came to the list of the Best Airline. :)

'Till next time SIA ;)

AirAsia Philippines - AirAsia Low Cost Airline‎

ABBEY: So this is our first time to fly with Airasia, and I can say we have a pleasant trip. We took the one-hour flight from Manila to Kalibo. As usual it is more exciting to board the plane using the good old "ladder" or whatever aviation term they call it. Just make sure to avoid the engine :)

We were greeted by their pretty staff Celina and managed to give a smile and a wave to our camera. I was surprised that they also offer meals on that short flight. Maybe for fliers who got no time for a bite to eat on the way to the airport. I got mine as well; chicken adobo. It was good and definitely filled up my half-empty tummy.

After our Boracay escapade, we took the same airline. This time as we enter the cabin, the stench filled our nostrils. It is as if the plane was used to carry frozen meat products. Strong smell of beef was over the place. It died down once we're up on the air. We landed in Manila at the exact time we were told. Thanks to the Captain and crew for a good flight.

WILL: Due to some unforeseen tragedies involving the planes last year makes me feel somewhat uncomfortable on hopping in at our AirAsia flight to Boracay. But all we do is say a prayer and ask for good voyage. :)

I am expecting ZestAir planes that was acquired recently by AirAsia. And on last minute they send an email that they will use their own red plane for our flight. Wooohooo!

NAIA Terminal 4 is their ground. We were astounded to saw that our flight was moved earlier at 9:40am instead of 10:40 without prior notice. Email or call was not received. Luckily we arrived at the airport at 7am. We checked in at around 8 and I keep an eye on the screen for us to board. 9am passed but the screen still flashes counter open for checked-in. Then an announcement was called for boarding for 10am. It is really stressful for passenger like us that do not know the exact time for our flight. Do not get me wrong that we do not ask for clarifications from the crew. Two different crew informed us 2 opposite facts. WTH!! Anyways, we boarded and was greeted by an all smile crew.

We had our in-flight meal and it is awesome for that amount. We landed and depart Kalibo airport as per schedule.

Please make your system and crew more accurate. For sure we will fly again with AirAsia. Please do not stop the exciting and the cheapest promo I have ever seen. :)

Philippine Airlines' International Flight - Manila to Singapore

ABBEY: The flight going back to Singapore last November 24 is my first international travel on board Philippine Airlines. It was a good trip. Flight attendants gave warm welcome to the passengers, distributed headphones and pillows. We had chicken afritada for lunch and its delicious as well as their leche flan. We got some landing difficulties as the runway was not cleared so when we expected the plane to touchdown the engine roared and minutes later we were up again in the sky. Finally we landed safely and came to halt on our gate. It was a nice ride.

I want to take this opportunity, even though this is regarding my parents' return trip to Philippines. I would like to commend the crew in PAL flight 103 (LAX-MNL) last Nov 6 California time. Their crew assisted as much as they can for the need of my mom as she was in a stretcher due to her illness. They really gave a helping hand showing that they care during that 14-hour flight.

Again, PAL many thanks.

WILL: We need to extend our supposedly 3-day vacation in Manila when Abbey’s mom got home from USA. It is only a month before our desired flight and it’s very hard for me look for a cheap fare Manila-Singapore. Every budget airline was checked but all my efforts was futile. Then I started to check the flag-carriers planes and found the cheapest with Philippine Airlines.

Ticket are way cheaper than CebuPacific, we booked a one-way ticket to Singapore. This is Abbey’s first time to be on board in their plane. I am expecting a Boeing 747 but a PAL’s version of airplane bus parked in front of our gate.

I am gunning for Abbey’s comfort that’s why I purchased the tix also, I want an extra leg room for him but we were too late to request for it, and yeah you must top-up to have those seats also.

Unlike other budget airlines, PAL have a movie on board, food to linger on and complimentary coffee, tea, and water. It’s a good experience. Sometimes splurging is not so bad after all.

Next time, if we are really, really rich, I am hoping for a business class. Ha!

Philippine Airlines Domestic Flight / Cebu to Manila

ABBEY:  This is my first time to ride Philippine's flag carrier. A bit of issue though when the flight was delayed for two hours due to technical problem. I understand those issues. But we were only notified thru mail. We gave our contacts when we bought the tickets. It just so happened that we got a wifi connection and my wife checked her mails. I asked the staff, what if we didn't check our mails or we didn't have a wifi connection. They asked for apology and appreciate that. Maybe the process could be enhanced to avoid it.

The flight is good. The pre-flight emergency procedure video is entertaining and informative. Hope I can ride again on PAL but this time an international one.

WILL: Well, I am proud to be one of the passengers of the Philippines flag carrier, PAL. I already experienced the international and domestic flight from this airline and the best take-off and landing of aircraft is the definitely one of the smoothest. High five PAL.
This is our first time to take PAL together, from Cebu to Manila last November 30. They e-mailed us twice and for the flight being delayed for around 2hours. Its okay for us as we do not have some urgent appointments back in Manila. Yes the said delay made me frantic but that day I don't want to stretched-out the problem, so I just keep my mouth shut.
Well, the flight is nice. The seat obviously more spacious and more comfortable. I paid Php2,355 for the two of us. Very affordable isn't it for a one way with free snack.

Tiger Airways - Singapore to Manila

ABBEY: At first I was hesitant to book out flight in this airline but we tried it when they conducted a fare sale. We got our ticket for 5k php. An additional 15kg check-in baggage costs 1071php.

Upon checking in an hour before our flight we were accommodated warmly by their staff. Any flight-related query that we have were answered politely. The seats and food are almost the same as the other airlines.

The flight is smooth and We arrived at Singapore on the expected time.

WILL: Tiger Airways is one of the budget airline that Filipinos can avail en route from Singapore to Manila.  Their plane lands and departs at NAIA 1 & Budget Terminal. Now, they also offers Davao and Cebu destination.

Plane is similar to other budget-fare planes. They have this black seat covers and I think they have more than 5 stewards on board. But I have some concern on this, If they have a lot of people on board, why the magazine holders have some trashes?

Happy to experienced to ride this plane. I hope we can get more fare promos soon ;)

Jetstar

Abbey:
I booked on this airline when I went back to Philippines. Their free check-in baggage is 20kgs that's why I had a shopping spree of Philippine goodies to bring here at SG. Like other airlines, Jetstar also offers seat sale. This gives us another alternative way to get back and forth to SG and Phil.

WILL: This jetstar is quite similar rates to our cebupacific. It is another budget airline to look for. They sale up to 5$ from SIN-KUL. Unlike other budget planes, they have a cafe, they serve pre-cooked foods. Very unlucky of me, we never taste any of their foods, why?, because my eyelids dropped me into a deep slumber. The landing was so smooth, very good pilot eh.

Airphil Express

ABBEY: This airline suits the time when we went back to Philippines last Chinese New Year. The flight attendants were accommodating. Seats were the same as Cebu Pac. We're looking forward to catch their seat sale when we go back on summer.

WILL: Maiba naman! Let's try the budget airline brought to us by Philippine Airline.

This is another low cost airline from Philippines, their only International flight as of now is Singapore and they are offering a sale as low as 1800 Php and pag minalas ka and you badly need to go home, they can offer u as much as 15000 Php.
The airplane is nice. But what I really love on our flight is they serve our favorite instant noodle for 75Php. I hope they have a hand soap and they have a ready disposal bag for puke. Tataka ako, sila lng ata ang wala nun sa mga nasakyan ko na airlines, you need to call FA for just a piece of bag. Hay!

Cebu Pacific Air - It's Time EVERYJUAN Flies

Abbey: Nakakatuwa kasi naging motto ng Cebu Pacific ang "Its time everyone flies" kasi isa ako sa mga nakalipad na. Not literally na lipad like Superman, but makasakay ulit ng erpleyn with an affordable fare. Almost every month may promo fares sila, kaya naman ang sarap umuwi sa Pinas. Kaya si Wilma, mga kapatid ko at kaibigan e naka-subscribe sa alert ng promo fares ng Cebupac.

Di talaga maitatanggi that it helped a lot of our kababayan abroad na magbalikbayan. Pero there are still issues that glooms the company. I hope it will be resolved soon.

Wala pa naman akong flight na nasakyan na may nagsasayaw na FA, babae man o lalaki. :)

WILL:  Pasensya na Ros kung ikaw ang napasama sa pic. Wala kasi kaming picture s airplane ni kuya. hehehe.

Cebu Pacific.. Sinong di makakakilala dito? First I thought the Piso Fare was a scam, until I got a ticket for only P40.00 MNL-CEB. Then yung CEB-MNL sinagot na ni Den. hehe. I am one of their client constantly checking the fares and their promos, domestic and international.

Pinakamaganda ata nasakayan ko n flight nila eh yung Palawan to Manila with Denise and her family, iba yung seat cover, hindi leather. Parang CX ang dating nun. Then first and always international flight ko with them is MNL-SIN-MNL. Then dahil international na, akala ko may food na, hehe, wala pa rin. My usual flight was morning, kaya i got a hot tea as always for P50.00.

Twice lng ako nanalo sa games nila. I got a pouch and a coin purse. Tapos ng games, sleep n ulit.
