Crowne Plaza Changi Airport -- Best Hotel at Terminal 3

ABBEY: We often drive past the Crowne Plaza Hotel on our way to the airport or Jewel, and I've always been curious about what it's like to stay there. So, when my sibling came to visit, we took the opportunity to check it out.

Our check-in experience was smooth, even with a bit of a queue. As soon as we entered our room, we were welcomed by a cozy office space, followed by a comfortable bed. The room also featured a large TV with plenty of channels to keep us entertained and a small dining area for a quick meal.

One of the standout features of the room was the bathroom. It includes a shower, toilet, and a bathtub with a unique view overlooking the airport terminal, allowing you to watch the air traffic. While the view was fantastic, we did find that the Jewel wing, where our room was located, felt a bit too far from the lobby, pool, and restaurant. It gave off a slightly isolated vibe, which might not be for everyone.

Overall, it was a memorable stay, especially with that captivating bathroom view, but the distance from some amenities is something to consider if you're planning a visit.

WILL: After a full day exploring Singapore’s iconic spots—Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Fullerton’s Mile Zero, and the Esplanade—we were ready for a break. But instead of heading straight to Jewel Changi, we made a quick pit stop. Abbey, being the expert planner, booked us a room at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. It’s literally right next to Terminal 3—just an escalator ride away!

Now, let’s talk about the stay itself. The biggest perk? The location. If you’re traveling through Changi, this hotel couldn’t be easier to access. Whether you’re catching an early flight or have a long layover, the convenience of being so close to the airport is unbeatable.

The room layout was thoughtfully designed, making the most of the available space. There’s a functional office desk, which nicely separates the bed area from the rest of the room, offering a bit of privacy and structure. The bed, though, was the real highlight for us—extremely cozy and supportive, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a long day of walking.

The bathtub! It’s perfect for a relaxing soak—although, heads up, the window might not give you all the privacy you expect. Their amenities have this super calming vibe, and I couldn’t help but feel like the hotel was encouraging us to de-stress before our next flight.

Kudos to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport—this is definitely a top choice for anyone in transit or just looking for a quick staycation. Oh, and did I mention they offer hourly rates? Super convenient, right?

Per night: SGD345.24 / night

Marina Bay Sands Premier Services: Is This Your Dream Hotel in Singapore?

ABBEY: Booking a room at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) through their app wasn't as smooth as I’d hoped. I ran into some issues securing rooms for my preferred dates, so I decided to reach out to their customer service. That’s when Natasha stepped in. With my membership ID in hand, she not only helped me lock in two rooms but also managed to secure some discounts for me—talk about a win!

Fast forward to three days before our stay, I received an email from the MBS Premium Service Team. They asked me to fill out the guest details and offered a personalized check-in service. I initially thought this was just part of their standard process, but it turned out to be much more.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by long check-in queues. That’s when I remembered the Premium Service Team. A quick call later, and David—our knight in a blue suit—arrived to save the day. Not only did we get a special lane, but we also got an in-room check-in. How cool is that?

When we finally made it to our room, we were welcomed with a fruit basket, and everything seemed perfect. Well, almost everything. My niece suddenly burst into tears, and we were all puzzled—turns out, there was no fruit basket in the other room! But the Premium Service Team swooped in once again, delivering some delicious fruits and turning her frown upside down.

We were celebrating my niece’s birthday, so the staycation was extra special. After dinner, we returned to find a surprise gift waiting on her bed. Guess who left it? Yep, the incredible Premium Service Team. They truly went above and beyond throughout our stay.

Even at checkout, their exceptional service continued. They helped us store our luggage, freeing us up to explore from Gardens by the Bay to Suntec City without any worries. They even handled the logistics to our next destination, making our journey completely hassle-free.

It was an extraordinary experience, and we felt genuinely cared for every step of the way. A huge shoutout to the amazing Premium Service Team, especially Nesh, Natasha, David, Yeng, Bayani, and Selan. Your dedication made our stay unforgettable!

WILL: When we talk about hotels in Singapore, why does Marina Bay Sands (MBS) always come up as the go-to option? If you ask us, we wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re like us and crave a peaceful, calming staycation, MBS is not your ideal choice. Have you ever seen the lobby? It’s like a marketplace, loud and chaotic. The check-in and check-out process is a nightmare—long queues and disorganized chaos.

But, let’s be honest—who can resist the iconic infinity pool? That’s what draws most people in. If swimming at the top of Singapore is on your bucket list, it’s hard to say no.

Abbey’s brother-in-law requested an MBS stay as a treat. Abbey saved for a 2-night stay, but we could only squeeze in one night due to our schedules. After avoiding MBS for so long, we finally gave in. So, what’s new?

Thanks to Abbey’s Sands Lifestyle membership, we got a taste of Marina Bay Sands Premier Services—and that’s what turned things around for us:

  1. No Queue Check-In: David, our personal butler, escorted us straight to the room, bypassing the usual lobby chaos.
  2. Welcome Perks: We were greeted with a fruit platter, and David went the extra mile to surprise our niece Nika with balloons and a teddy bear for her birthday.
  3. Easy Requests: No need to call the lobby; just send a quick WhatsApp message for anything you need.

The room? As you'd expect—clean, spacious, with a comfy bed. Their luxury toiletries are from Salvatore Ferragamo, leaning a bit masculine in scent, and TWG tea, as usual, makes an appearance. The balcony view overlooking Gardens by the Bay? Absolutely stunning.

With these perks and that sprawling room, we might just return to MBS. The Premier Services made everything so much more convenient.

Is MBS really worth the splurge? What do you think? SGD1,767.56 for two rooms in a night :)

Lloyd’s Inn: An Honest Review of Our Singapore Staycation

ABBEY: Lloyd’s Inn always comes up whenever I check where we can accommodate our visitors. At last the day has come and we booked an overnight stay on their Big Garden and Garden rooms.

The place is filled with plants and trees. Our rooms are Japanese-inspired wherein the mattresses are in elevated floors. We even had yukata. Toilet and bath are outdoors but still maintain privacy. We’re not able to lounge in the garden as we have to leave early to our next destination. You have to fill your water bottles from the dispensers stationed at every floor. The same goes for vending machine coffee. Don’t worry they are free for the guests.

A traditional kaya toast set (with soft-boiled egg and hot drink) can be claimed to a nearby Kopitiam with the provided voucher.

WILL: During the pandemic, Lloyd’s Inn kept appearing in my feed, suggesting it as a staycation option. I initially dismissed the idea, thinking it was too far or not easily accessible. However, when the need arose to book a room for 6 people, Lloyd’s Inn became a strong option.

As I researched more, I discovered that some of the myths I had heard about Lloyd’s Inn were far from true.

Myth 1: It's Too Far from the City
Lloyd’s Inn is actually very well situated, just a 10-minute walk from Singapore’s Orchard Road, the heart of the shopping district. Despite being close to the city, the tranquility of the place is remarkable. There’s no loud music or crowds of pedestrians on the street outside.

Myth 2: It’s Expensive
When you break down the cost, Lloyd’s Inn is surprisingly budget-friendly without compromising on quality.

Myth 3: No Amenities
This couldn’t be further from the truth. Lloyd’s Inn offers a serene pool area and an unlimited coffee supply in their common pantry.

Lloyd’s Inn goes the extra mile to make your stay special. When they learned we were celebrating a special occasion, they surprised our niece with a chocolate bar and a handwritten note.

Overall, our stay was pleasant—until bedtime. I had trouble sleeping due to some itchiness while lying in bed. Since we were only staying for one night and I didn’t have the energy to complain, I slept without the quilt, and the itching subsided.

Another drawback is the lack of a driveway. If it’s raining and you have a lot of luggage, be prepared for it to get a bit wet.

Cost: Starts from SGD200...

Luxury Hotels PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering - COLLECTION Club Lifestyle Room (COLLECTION Club Lounge Access)

ABBEY: I won a staycation from a work challenge and it is at ParkRoyal Collection Pickering. It is for 2D1N stay at their club room and includes access to their club lounge.

Check-in is at 3PM but we got our room ready by 12:30PM. Once we settled our things in the room, we put on our swimwear and hit the pool. It was refreshing. After a few laps and couples of minutes in the pool jet we went back to our room and prepare for afternoon tea. They have scones and siew mai which we were craving for. We went to their Urban Garden that showcases different plants and herbs.

The building is full of greenery. Ample lights enter the rooms as the windows are not tinted. And if you need to hydrate you can always get a glass from their filtered water faucet.

The cocktails started at 6PM and we lounged there until closing. The beer and beef chilli were perfect partners. We also had smoked salmon, cold cuts and cheese. A great way to wrap up the day. As the next day started, we headed down to Lime for breakfast buffet. I had a couple servings of bacon, pork sausage, fried chicken, blue pea rice; my own version of nasi lemak.

For our last hurrah, we went up in the club lounge for the sparkling wine. Our stay is a blast!

Ultimate Eco-Luxury Experience | A Night at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering

WILL: Abbey (being so competitve) won the Most Zero Waste and Carbon Conscious Activities Done in their 2023 Eco Challenge. And with a delight, he won a staycation with Lounge Access (worth SS600++) at ParkRoyal’s most instagrammable branch which is the Pickering.

Abbey, now converted Eco-Lover, he researched why their company chose Pekroyal Pickering as their Grand Price. Except for their luscious greeneries, they do have a herb farm just beside their lounge, they have this massive window that welcomes the sunlight and open walkways that didn’t need an airconditionong and carpet. Those eco-efforts requires different perspective to design and a huge determination to lessen the carbon footprints.

How about their room? It is spacious and well designed to get a view of their greeneries, bed is comfortable and toiletries are refillable (lesser plastics). They have Bacha for coffee and TWG for tea. TV channels has a pretty array of selection, but we USB plugs are not working nor airplay.

Lounge is open whole day. You can order tea, coffee or fruit juice and have some cookies or fruits to consume.
Teatime: my favourite is their vegetarian siew mai and I am regretting why I didn’t tried their scones.
Evening Cocktails: love their cheese platter and crackers with, their nachos and impossible meat chili. Red wine is quite dry but champagne is irresistible to top up. Haha.
Breakfast: they do have a meagre option but because of champagne, we opted to spend time in there.
Lime Breakfast: offers blue pea Nasi Lemak and crispy pork bacon! What a lovely combination!

Swimming pool has cold water and 30mins of swim and Vitamin D infusing is enough to enjoy the view of Hong Lim Park.

Will definitely recommend this hotel. Their lounge is pretty nice to laze and people watching from above. Lovely place to plan for a goal!

Raffles Hotel Singapore Courtyard Suite Staycation | Luxury and OLDEST 5-Star Iconic Heritage Hotel

 ABBEY:

WILL: Finally! The budget fits for us to stay to one of the most luxurious, oldest and one of the icons of Singapore…The Raffles Hotel! Is it really expensive to stay there? Hmmm. Yes! Haha! As Ms Sarah informed us, only Filipino businessmen or Presidents can afford the stay. Seldom a commoner like us. What can I say? I love to shoot for the stars. Haha!

So what happened why we managed and mustered our finances to have another luxurious staycation this year? Well, first of all the 40x40 goal was reached 2 years earlier than we planned, Abbey passed the ITIL Certification and I graduated the DOST’s Project SPARTA Analyst Pathway. We have a bunch to celebrate right?

Enough of us. Let’s talk about our Raffles Singapore Staycation Review.
ROOM
The first room was 133. The room is divided in three parts. Fist the parlour.
Parlour
Sitting Room is where you can just lounge after you reached your room. Here where you can find your “Hermès”-like luggage and when you open it you’ll realize that it is a box for your in-room coffee(Nespresso), tea(Raffles Tea by The 1872 Clipper Tea Co.), mini bar (chargeable) and some of the glasswears. That is well-organized food and drink for the Raffles Hotel Residents. The parlour has a dining table and equipped with TV. Stationaries are inside of a mini attaché case located below the iPad controller.

The Bedroom
This iconic four-posted bed is one of the main attraction on your stay with Raffles Singapore. This kind of bed is a centerpiece in English castles. Now you feel more like a royalty right? Haha! The bed is not that soft nor not that hard. You can request for a pillow based on your specification. A huge TV and two (2) usual size cabinets for your clothings are in front of your bed. You’ll be happy to see that their slippers are not paper thin. The Peranakan design compliments well with the bathroom tiles. The blower is not located in the bathroom! It is cutely hidden in a dressing table.

Bathroom
A soaking bathtub will greet you in your Perenalan tiled bathroom. It has a marble top his and hers sink and wooden drawers. They do not have bath salts in the room but you can request for it. The toiletries are superb! It is not flowery, it is not musky, the aroma relaxes your muscles. Haha!

RESTAURANTS
The Suite Vacay promotion includes welcome drinks, breakfast and $100 dining voucher.
The Courtyard
You can either redeem your welcome drink which is Singapore Sling at The Grand Lobby or at The Courtyard, we chose the latter. This is for us to soak in with nature and courtyard’s architecture. We are not wrong with our choice! We met Tom and we had a little chat and walllllaaaahhhh! He treated us with a Tommy’s Margarita.

Tiffin Room
Here we had our breakfast. What reminds us the most? The hospitality of Ms Sarah. She really made a point that we were taken care of. She have done extra mile for giving us a bento meal in Tiffin Room. She recommends us to have Crispy Pancetta, definitely lovelier than a bacon.

yì by Jereme Leung
We had dinner here in lieu of the $100 voucher. We had Wok-fried Sichuan Style Spicy Squid, Fried Rice with Char Siew, Pork Belly and Pickled Long Beans, and Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles with Minced Iberico Pork. Flavours are exploding! Abbey and I agree that it is worthy to have another visit in this restaurant.

OSTERIA BBR by Alain Ducasse
Abbey had a Wake-up Call and I had Alba Rossa. This is for us to maximize the $100 voucher. You will surely love the pica-pica here specially if you like olives.

FACILITIES
Gym and pool is located at the third floor of the main building. The gym is not fully-equiped but you surely have the basic needs for a good workout. Be careful on their pool, the depth is a constant slope. Oh they had told us that they are not using chlorine for cleaning it. Good job Raffles!

RAFFLES BOUTIQUE
Another voucher of $50 is for you to spend in their boutique store. you can find coffee, tea, postcards, wines and of course souvenir items. Abbey bought two packs of coffee.

We had some mishap but it is was well taken care of, maybe you’ll ask why we had to change to another room. Anyways, this is indeed a very memorable experience specially for me. If you want to stay in historical buildings this is surely for you.

Do watch out for their promotions. Now they have a package where the famous afternoon tea is included.
Stay safe all! Stay jolly!
