CRISPY LECHON PORK BELLY ROLL - HOW TO MAKE THE BEST LECHON AT HOME

ABBEY:
Ingredients:
- 1 pork belly (2-3kg)
- 2 bulbs of garlic
- 2 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp ground black pepper
- 3 stalks lemon grass
- 3 stalks green onion
- oil and soy sauce

VERDICT
WILL: After Abbey’s crispy pata it is time for lechon belly roll. This is one try only and Abbey already done perfectly!

Slab of pork belly costs us $30 and $5 for the ingredients inside. The taste is priceless! Darn good! Of course Abbey make it sure that the skin is crispy and the spices flavour was locked into it meat. Do not forget to partner it with a steaming hot rice!

Yummmmy! Because the slab is quite huge, we finished the meat around three days.

Suzuki Gourmet Coffee - JAPANESE INSPIRED TEAHOUSE | Roasts, Grinds and Packages its OWN COFFEE

ABBEY: Suzuki Cafe became the talk of the town almost overnight. The beans are already being sold long before the cafe opened. But the strategy is brilliant: they open their coffee shop on the same venue as their warehouse at Chin Bee Ave (nearest MRT is Boon Lay).

No facility yet for booking that you need to go there and register your mobile number and they will send a message once the seat is ready. We had a 15-minute wait time during our visit.

I had a cappuccino with a not-so-usual latte art as like with the other cafes. The coffee is smooth and not too bitter. Each drink came with a biscuit. The staff are also helpful enough to advise on which beans I need to purchase for my cold brew and moka pot.

I’ll be trying the ones from Kenya and Papua New Guinea but a bit pricey.

WILL: This coffeeshop created a buzz and Abbey was so hooked up that we decided to travel from northeast to west of Singapore to check out their Japanese inspired cafe.

It buzz so what do you expect? There’s a queue. And due to COVID-19 restrictions, you can’t wait outside their premises. We waited our turn at the nearest bus stop. Ahm, yeah bus stop. Chin Bee is an industrial location thus no mall nor cafe near the area. So..bus stop it is. Haha.

They require to get your phone a number, you will received a sms, we walk through their noren (Japanese Door Curtain) and surprise-surprise another queue. Haha!

On our turn, we went to their second floor. The cafe is located there and their design is zen. Even I have experienced inconveniences, you will feel relax once you reached the cafe. There’s a very light background music, a hush crowd in their talking and a display of their roasted coffee.

I ordered a matcha latte. My verdict? Taste like ordinary. Taste like an instant matcha? Check it out, see, taste and experience for you to judge.

CHEAPEST KOREAN BBQ IN ANG MO KIO - Teng Sheng Korean BBQ Buffet Restaurant ITE Headquarters | $20 NETT

ABBEY: Once again the craving for a meat bbq is on me. We were supposed to have it on our place but due to pandemic the bbq pits were closed. After a few visits to ITE (Ang Mo Kio) we saw a poster of Teng Sheng Korean BBQ and the price is at 20SGD per person on a dinner. It’s a go.

We were the only guests when we arrived up until a few minutes before we finish. We were told to place our orders since that is an ala carte buffet and get our drinks. By the time we got back to our table our stove is hot and a plate with mountain of meats is waiting for us.

We had pork belly, beef, sausages, lettuce and kimchi. I indulged in pork belly fats. Wow! The staff is already asking for next batch of orders when they saw our plate is already empty. We only went as far as second round. It was “full”-filling. The buffet includes rice, soup and soft drinks.

WILL: Institute of Technical Education is getting popular not only with the students but also with people who is looking for a cheap alternative on dining in. And yes of course, we want to check out one of the cheapest Korean BBQ Buffet in Singapore.. the Teng Sheng.

Teng Sheng is located at Blk F(behind building) #02-09 of ITE.

We went there quite early for dinner thus we are the only diners in there but when 7pm striked the place was packed with families enjoying a bbq.

What can I say? Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were given a form to take our orders and the server gave us an overwhelming amount of meat for us to indulge in. Gunk on meat is not prominent while grilling the it. The concoction of dipping sauce complements well with the meat. Their kimchi do not have an overpowering smell or sourness which is just nice for some.

Overall, if you’ll compare this to other cheap Korean BBQ buffet along Orchard, ITE’s Teng Sheng is a good competitor.
