Sentosa Buskers Festival 2014

ABBEY: Another year has passed and Sentosa Buskers Festival is back. We only have one goal; to see Grumpy Queen Vic and have a snap with her. Upon arriving in Beach Station, Les Dudes is already performing. They are one of the wacky duo who does torch juggling, riding unicycle and acrobatics. After their act, I heard a loud whistle that sends a signal of urgency. It was Tuto Tul; a mime calling out his audience. He made his funny head stands and antics with audience participation. The show turned out to be good as the volunteers were game.

After that, we went to Palawan beach to see the "Queen". She was really grumpy :) Even the sound of violin from Singaporean artist Dan cannot put a smile across her face. Maybe because she was placed in the farthest part of the Buskers' Festival area. It would be better to place her in the area near iFly. We were about to leave as our mission was accomplished.

It was a good thing that we stayed. A few minutes later Aerial Manx of Australia started his act. He did lit up a whip and extinguished the flames by striking it. Each sonicboom was matched with a fireball. The sight was awesome. The last act is a dangerous one. So unique that he was logged into Guiness World record. He swallowed a 42-inch sword, did a cartwheel and then backflipped. That's how you end a performance.

WILL: Have you been to any of Sentosa’s Buskers Festival? No? Whyyyy? Tell me why?!

This season, I laughed a lot, my jaw-dropped a lot and I spend a lot for the tips. Haha!

Sentosa squeeze in the performances to the a smaller vicinity of the island, it is a good thing, viewers can jumped in to one act simultaneously. First we saw the Les Dudes from Canada. Unicycle is their forte. Tuto Tul got our attention when he blew his whistle. He is really amazing. He is a mime, clown and a magician. He make his audiences participate on his show.

We ran to The Garden to check out The Grumpy Queen from United Kingdom. Well she is the reason why we chose to go on Monday. Haha! I tried to make her smile, but efforts are futile. She is really a grumpiest off all grumpy queen in the whole wide world.

We were about to go home when we saw Aerial Manx from Australia fixing his stuffs, when I read on the pamphlet that he is a Guinness World Record holder, Winner of Apollo Bay Buskers Competition and performed on almost all of the famous city, we decided to stay, sit and enjoy his antics. Well, a breathtaking, tongue-swallowing and heartbeat-stopper performance Aerial Manx showed to us.

This weekend please visit them at Sentosa.. The State of Fun. Its free but please give some tips to the buskers if you enjoyed their shows. J

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013

ABBEY: Sentosa Buskers Festival 2013 exhibited many of the local artists' talents. Our first stop is with Dharni and K-Leah. We have seen the performance of Dharni in Singapore Night Festival and his beatboxing is great. Matched it with the husky voice of K-Leah and it was superb.

After the acapella we went to see the string duo, Off Beaters. This kids really plays their instruments well. I liked it when they play Bruno Mars' Hey Soul Sister. They can improve their show if they would interact with their audience.

We also got a photo shoot session with Sentosa Buskers Festival mascot. Last stop is Tribal Ninjas. Hands up to these artists especially with their fire acts. The show must go on even its windy causing the fire to touch their skins. I got also a chance to pose with The Leaning Man. We're hoping to see more of the world-class talents on the next festival.

WILL: Its Sentosa's 4th year in busking! Time flew so fast, isn't? This is a new for all of the attendees as they invite their local artists to perform at the stages of Sentosa, they were located at Merlion Pitch, Bell Pitch, iFly Ground, and to cut it short, they were all over the island.
On my observation, more audience actually went there to checkout the performances despite grey clouds engulfed the city-state.
First we checkout the program so we can plan our visit. We listened first to Dharni and K-Leah, amazing voice accompanied by beatbox. Then we stopped to amaze ourselves with Off Beaters. Hey, I also attended the meet and greet the Buskers Mascot. 4th stop was the nice duo that played fire, well done tribal ninjas. To stop our grumbling stomach, we ended our visit with The Leaning Man.
That was a great break on a very hectic and pressured working environment.
I wish that the local performers will practice more on how to communicate with their audiences.
As usual, I am looking forward on 2014 Buskers line up. :) thanks Sentosa for this free event and helping a charity through our island entrance fee.

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2012

ABBEY: This is the third time we attended the Buskers Festival at Sentosa. We met Mama Lou; a fine lady with brute strength. She showcases stunts which proves how strong a human being is. From lifting things through her tongue to smashing an apple with her biceps; this woman is great. Next is the Mexican Rock and Roll duo. They did acrobatic acts and juggled with knives. Dangerous as it is, they managed to make their performance funny by their antics. Then we saw the magician. He picked a kid to be his sidekick and the child was game to participate. We had a lot of laugh for the magic tricks. It was a fun day at the festival. Looking forward for their next year's event.

WILL: This is the third annual celebration of Sentosa's Buskers Festival, and now they celebrated it along its 40th anniversary. New lineup of buskers gathered from all over the globe to made us smile.
We went here after my office hour, Monday. As we anticipated, more crowd is now flocking each performers. We saw four of the buskers, stunts. The Anonymous Brothers are really funny guys but doing a dangerous act. Ms. Adrian Conde of Argentina-Spain is a magician, every move is so funny and his hands is definitely quicker than my eyes. Mama Lou, I adore her body.. Haha! Guys must be intimidated by her strength. And the last one and definitely not the least, physics plus strength is the key of their performance from Canada and Peru, the LOL Brothers.
That night is really is really filled by laughter. We are looking forward for this event every year. Thanks Sentosa for bringing this for free and for helping a charity. Oh, compliments to the sound systems for this year. :)

Sentosa Buskers Festival 2011

ABBEY: It's the second time we went to Buskers' Festival. As we enjoyed the first we also had a fun time for the recent one. Fun time means I also participated in one of the busker's act. It was for Acromanuel. As the name implies he's an acrobat. He handed me a balloon and told me to blow it up. He picked another male audience the same built as me and told us to face each other with crossed-arm. He stood between us, gripped our arms and did a head stand. I can't believe we can carry him. As a tip he told us to lean forward if we feel that we will be out of balance. :)
We also met Valentino and his Jazz puppets as well as the fire-breather magician Jeff Collins. While searching for a place to eat we met a mime on the way. He's antics are very funny. Every end of the act they encourage people to help for the funding of the Community Chest.

WILL: Buskers from other countries again at Sentosa. Thanks to Sentosa management for letting us witness their performances for free :)
We went there for their day 4 and saw the following:
1. Jeff Collins juggling and fire performance. Hehe. We just love the way he cracked jokes in doing his dangerous acts. Hehe.
2. Acromanuel, wohoooo! We are first to get seat in at kodak stage. :) first in line and due to that Acromanuel saw my hubby and ask to help him for the act. Damn it, i am envy for his upper body strength and balance. Hooray for very kind and very approachable Acromanuel. Oops, he told us that he love the audience in the first row. Haha! We are included in it. Hehe.
3. Valentino and his puppets made our feet thumping from the start of performances up to end. He pulled the strings and the puppets moved like a real man. After the show we congratulated Valentino for his performance. Hehe, as of Valentino, that show is the best he have. We are the set of crowd that claps and participate a lot. Hehe.
4. We are about to go home when we saw Karcocha making fun on people walking around. Haha. He made us laugh a lot! He doesn't bores us. Laugh trip up to end.
Its very good for sentosa to support a charity. ;) simple act that make a lot of people benefit. Looking forward for 2012 Set of Buskers. ;)

Sentosa's First Buskers Festival

ABBEY:
Busker's festival is great and fun. Back in the Philippines, I just see busker during holiday season in malls. Now, I can have picture with them as well. They posted also the rules when you are watching the performances. Bawal ang PIKON, go with the flow. And how much it cost us? 0SGD. Yes, its free. Definitely, we had a great time :)

WILL: Back again on Sentosa Island, 3rd time.
All I can do is laugh and be amazed on all their acts. It's so good to feel inside the lightness in appreciating all the jokes of the buskers.
So nice that Sentosa set up that event. Many people swarming around, amused and grinning like a child.
To all the performers, raise the glass up. Thank you for making our weekend so light. Oh by the way, I won in spin and win. I got a Sentosa Eco-bag and a Magnet.
