Café&Meal MUJI at Jewel Changi Singapore

ABBEY: I was surprised when Wilma told me that we’ll be having dinner at Muji at Jewel. Seriously? It is all household items. Turns out they have cafe and deli. Wow. I got the Hamburger with Burdock, Shiitake Sauce (SGD 18.9)What I like the most is their 16-grain rice. It has a lot of texture and you can even eat it on its own. The meal is savoury and will really fill you up. Pay extra for the drinks.

WILL: Even that our workplace is kilometres apart, Abbey and I find time to have a date night after office hours. What’s the newest “tambayan” for me and Abbey? It is the Jewel Changi. You should not ask why. Everybody knew that Jewel caters a wide array of food pallete. And one of those is the huge floor for Café&Meal MUJI.

For dinner, I chose to have Pork Katsu Donburi ($15.90). The pork is not that salty and perfectly soft and juicy. Well unlike other that’s overfried. The unique onset egg that gave the extra creaminess in my mouth. And the star of the meal...the 16-grain rice! It is indeed a luxury! How a simple looking rice will be that mushy and will give emphasis to every flavour of your viand. Wow! Just wow!

I am an instant fan of Muji Cafe! If you are at Jewel Changi, this is another cafe to visit and try!

Gram Cafe & Pancakes Singapore – Famous Jiggly Souffle From Osaka Japan

ABBEY: We queued a couple of times at Gram Pancake and on our third try we were in. There are only 30 soufflé pancakes at each time slots. A serving of three 4-cm pancake on top of each other costs SGD 17.90. That doesn’t include any drink and every person that will enter the restaurant should have an item to order (speaking of profit per customer. Haha).

They are wobbly (or jiggly) and fluffy but nothing special about the taste. The smell is like the fancy streetfood-pancake we had in Philippines. Maybe its with the water they use for steaming the pancakes. (Recycled?)

Also in my observation, the staffs seem to give that “take photos for IG, finish your food fast, and leave” vibes. They might just want to serve all the customers who want to get in. No warmth or welcoming feel except for that one staff or maybe she’s the manager. Not going there for second time :)

WILL: A new craze sprouted at VivoCity. It is the Gram Pancakes from Japan.

Do you know that they have a limited number of serving? Do you know that you need to queue for almost 40mins? Do you know that you can’t order a drink or another item from menu aside of thei pancakes? Do you know that thei pancakes cost a $17.90? Now you know! Haha!

After waiting for another 15mins at the table, the pancakes were served. Indeed, it is jiggly and yummy for the eyes. BUT! It emits a stench. Arrggh. I do not know why but it reminds me of a smell of dirty hot towel. Argghhh... There nothing unusual of the taste. But the texture is creamy and spongy as I expected.

The young man who is taking the orders outside the store seems so arrogant and surprisingly they told our next table that they can’t stay if they already finished their food. Whoah!

Instagrammable but not worth the HYPE, TIME and MONEY.

Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory Singapore - Cow Cow Milk Pie

ABBEY: This is not an ordinary cream puff. It is the fruit of croissant and pastry cream getting married. Haha.

The pastry has the consistency of a croissant which has layers of “flakiness”. And the cream is not overpoweringly sweet. Enough to tease your tastebuds for another bite. We got these at their stall at Jewel.

WILL: Cream puff is one of my favourite pastries and thank you to Ate Loide for Cow-Cow’s Milk Pie recommendation.

We bought the Cow Cow Milk Pie at Jewel Changi Airport. Abbey bought a coffee to partner it with. While the light and sounds are on show, we keep on munching this delightful piece of pastry.

How was it? It is milky and more on the sweeter side. The bread is super soft that it almost melting from within. This is good for afternoon tea or for dessert. For sure your kids will love this.
