Memories at Old Ford Factory

Abbey: This museum located at Upper Bukit Timah is a 45-minute bus ride from our place. As its name implies this is where Ford vehicles were made until the Japanese occupation. On front of a building is a giant drawing of a boardgame like Snakes and Ladders; which was a pastime of the prisoners of war during that period. The curators welcomed us warmly on the exhibit. They also led us to a viewing room to watch a documentary regarding Singapore's history during World War II. When the war broke out, the facility assembled not vehicles but fighter planes. The old factory also houses the room wherein Gen. Percival signed the surrender document that led to the invasion of Japanese Imperial Army led by Gen. Yamashita. Ruined by war, it was restored and now exhibits World War II memorabilia. Adjacent to it is the National Archives of Singapore and a garden plot that features crops during wartime. We also bought a stamp sheet to add to our collection.

WILL: Gong Xi! Gong Xi! Yeah, I know we are in a middle of March now, and apologies for posting this so late.

2nd day of Chinese New Year here in Singapore, we planned to go to the Old Ford Factory. Again apology for not researching before planting our foot in there. I am expecting cars, cars, and bundles of cars, haha!, but we found a place to be treasured.

A giant snakes and ladders were at the front of the museum, childhood flashback indeed. When we go inside, the friendly staff welcomed us. We roamed inside and the idea of 2nd world war became a reality.

After the visit, we watched a short film how Yamashita bluffed General Percieval. Maybe, if I was on Great Britain shoes, I will surrender also because of lack of water supply for his people. Japanese is really good in offence and world invasion is all they want. They are fierce in getting what they want whenever they want.

This is a very nice place to go. Thanks to National Hetitage Board for a free entrance. :)

BonChon Chicken Singapore @ Bugis+

ABBEY: We have tried BonChon at their Trinoma mall branch in Quezon city. The place was jam-packed as it is also small. The one they had at Bugis+ mall is bigger. We had a lunch there after visiting Vince. We got a couple of order of wings good for 3. The sauce is mixture of soy garlic and spicy.

Heads up, waiting time will definitely test your patience. But with Wilma and Vince as companion, we never ran out topics to talk to. With occasional follow-up"s" (yes with an s), our order was served.

The chicken is crispy and the sauce has been absorbed by the meat and not too greasy. I'm not ashamed to lick my fingers as the really stood out. With a bowl of hot, slightly-sticky rice I indulged and had my fill during that lunch.

WILL: Lunch with VA, we saw BonChon just near his place.. Bugis+, and I declared for us to dine there. Ahehe!

We ordered wings and drumsticks. Once our tummy starts grumbling, our food came in. Bite and a crackling sound resonates around my brain! Shocks this is so crispy. Crispier and tastier than the Philippines' BonChon. Really way far from the tastes we had at Trinoma.

No words can describe the happines we had after dining here. :) Please give it a try..

Mang Larry's Isawan (Isawan sa UP Campus)

ABBEY: By the time Pareng John and Mareng Denise treated us for a full body massage they also planned our food trip at an isawan located inside UP Diliman. But that was spoiled due to rain and the place got muddy. On an open ground near the vicinity of Alumni Hotel was a food shop where you can satisfy your grilled-inards hunger. Chicken isaw (intestine) is priced at 5php a piece.
And pork barbecue at 10php. Two dips/sauce are there to choose from; spicy and not spicy vinegar :) The container of spicy one is almost red due to chillies. I only eat isaw and barbecue but since it is already dark when we got there I just munch on whatever I got :) They were all delicious and fresh. We also had dirty ice cream and avocado shake which made Wilma's sore throat worse.

WILL: This is was long awaited promise of Mr. And Mrs. Chua to me and Abbey, when they jokingly asked where is our next stop for our Saturday adventure, we hollered isawan sa UP.

UP isawan is famous to its clean and yummy grilled chicken and pork intestine. And when we reached the place, too many people, our order was done after 1 hour of waiting. Is the waiting worthy? Yeah!

For only Php5 you can indulge with this streetfood. Oh darl, the vinegar, its legendary! Haha. While waiting buy some ice cream in the cart and try the avocado flavor.

Apologies for this very dark pictures. The area was not well lit. Enjoy!
