Outram Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha Restaurant

ABBEY: When Wilma went out with her colleagues from her former company they dined out here, Outram Ya Hua Rou Gu Cha Restaurant. She likes soup and she'll give you straight-out comments whether it tickled her tastebuds or not.

This hawker shop covers 4-5 stalls. Once there, an attendant will give you a checklist for ordering. Specify what you want to have and how many. I dined here twice (Austria's visit and Wilma's) but I ordered the same; pork spare ribs. 

Wilma thought me how to eat the bread roll. Cut it  into bite-size pieces and dip it in dark soy sauce and then in the bak kut teh soup. A cup of rice will suffice but a cup of soup is not. You can have as much soup as you want as it is unlimited :)   

A bowl of bak kut teh starts at 4sgd; depends which part of pork you order. Bread roll is a must-try as well as 4-5 bowls of the soup :) The diner is located at the hawker center below PSA Tanjong Pagar Complex.

WILL: Bak Ku Teh is one of the famous food here in Singapore but only few perfected it for diners satisfaction. 
      Have you been in Tanjong Pagar Port or are you a foreign talent that have a appointment with Ministry of Manpower, why not make a stop at this well-know restaurant? This is just located at Tanjong Pagar Plaza. You will easily spot them as they always packed of people with hungry stomach. 
      Hey this is just below our office, so one time when Abbey went at our office we go straight there for dinner. 
      Youtaio is a complimentary doughnut served, omg, I can eat a lot of this, but don't forget to dunk it first in the oozing complimentary soup. :)
      We ordered two bak kut teh for not more than $7 each and a cup of rice. I love hot, peppery soup. I can eat with rice alone. The pork is so tender that meat will surrender is clinging on the bones by just poking it with a chopsticks. 
      This is a great place for you to send your tourist. ;) 

Singapore Maritime Week 2013

ABBEY: Wilma got a long story when she went to Singapore Maritime Exhibit on Vivo City last 2012. She told me that she was teary-eyed as she was dreaming of Philippines to be that bigtime in maritime industry. But in reality, it'll take maybe forever to be in that position. 

We went to Plaza Singapura and it happened that the exhibition was there. We went to it and I was amazed how this city-state became a prime in international trading. 

It displayed models of cargo ships that travels across the globe for business. In there also are models for oil rigs; the number one commodity in the world. You can get souvenir postcards as well as key chains. Along the exhibit is the T-shirt design contest. They were beautiful and eye-catching; but sadly there were no replicas for sale. Twas an informative and fun exhibit.

WILL: As I was educated by the history and humble beginning of now the busiest port of world, I am always on the look for next Singapore Maritime Week. 
      Last year, Singapore flaunt how they begin to dream, now, 2013 the Singapore Maritime Week flashed to the public how  successful the O&M (Offshore & Marine) engineering services this little island have. 
      They really want to tap and update as many people they can as MPA build three exhibits... In VivoCity, NEX Mall and the main is where we went, at the Plaza Singapura. They also ask students from different schools to design a shirt. So sad they do not have pieces for sale. 
      Well, we are so great that even we do not memorize the answer at the question, the people behind the counter gave as some cute keychains of Ponzi. :) 
      Next time! We can't wait :) 

Jollibee Singapore

ABBEY: Who wouldn't take a bite to a langhap-sarap Jollibee Chicken Joy? For us, every  come-back visit to Philippines we will always find a time to dine at any Jollibee store. That's why the buzz was all over Singapore when the news of opening a Jollibee branch hit the city-state. According to older Filipino expats, back then Jollibee was already here but was closed due to lack of market as they say. 

I was almost have gone to its opening day but it was a good decision not to as the queue is very long and the minimum wait time is 3 hours. Finally on Easter Sunday as we remit money back to Pinas we got our chance to visit the "busiest bee". 

In the front door, I posed with Jollibee and it made me feel like a child again :) we got two 2-piece Chicken Joy, spaghetti, chocolate sundae and Champ; all for little more than 30sgd :) Each bite put a thousand flavor in my mouth. It is as if we're back home for an hour; the place is homey and hasn't lost its Pinoy touch.

WILL: How famous is Jollibee in Philippines? Well, some mall housed two of branches just to accommodate the people who wants to enjoy the "langhap-sarap" foods that they offered. 
      Lucky Plaza in Orchard is indeed lucky to cater the first branch of Jollibee here in Singapore. Filipinos really love and missed the tasty servings of this fast food chain, that you must queue for 1-2 hours to enjoy the food. 
      We went there last March early morning 930am I already in line and waited for half an hour to be served. Like there is no tomorrow, I asked for 2 orders of 2-pc chickenjoy, 1 spaghetti, 1 champ burger and 1 chocolate sundae. Very sad that the Jolli-hotdogs were finished. 
      Gosh, like a child, Abbey and I bit the chicken with joy. The fries is really lovely. 
      It feels that we were back in our childhood, very happy to see Jollibee's statue in foreign land, I asked Abbey to strike a pose! 
      We will surely be coming back for more langhap-sarap experience!
