Counter Seating Kaunta Seki at Mitsuba Japanese Cheap Buffet - The Central Clarke Quay

ABBEY: As Christmas is nearing, me, Wilma and Chat planned our buffet Christmas dinner at Mitsuba.

And we got the best seat in the house; a bar seat (in front of the chef). We didn’t waste a minute and we immediately ordered via iPad all the Chef’s Choice items like Sashimi Moriawase (the swordfish is so tender), Sake Mentai Aburi, Ikura Sushi, Spider Temaki, and Wagyu Bifu Maki. My repeat orders are roast pork belly (yaki buta), ebi tempura, smoked duck (oh the layer of fat melts in your mouth), and Meltique Bifu (beef slice with garlic and salt). They also have ice cream; chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and lychee flavors.

There are hundreds of choices so be sure to keep the orders coming but in moderation. I can say that we’ll definitely be back to this restaurant.

WILL: Mitsuba is one of the renowned sushi buffet here in Singapore. If you’ll check the online reviews and the long queue outside their restaurant, you’ll be curious and persuaded to check and book a table with them. And I am one of the proud victim of my own curiosity. Haha. I purposely indicated that we want to be sitting in front of the chefs, and we were granted with our request. What is the pero of that? You can see them do their masterpieces and your order is super fast that they will just hand it out to you. No to a long waiting time.

So how was it? I have told to Abbey, that is is a bank for the buck! The price of $56.90++ is totally worth it. We’ll be saving our 2 dinner trips in a sushi conveyor belts to eat here in Mitsuba. What you should not skip (sashimis are given) Spider and Unaki Temaki, Dobinmushi, the crunchy and melt in your mouth Yaki Buta, Ika Geso and Salmon Skin.

Will surely coming back here and of course still requesting Mitsuba for counter seating. See you there!

Keyaki Japanese Restaurant at Pan Pacific | Top Japanese Restaurant Singapore

ABBEY: Dinner at Keyaki is our last hurrah for our 10th wedding anniversary. It is one of the top Japanese restaurants in Singapore and we booked for their 6-course dinner.

The ambiance of the place is like on the movies set in Japan and the music is low almost quiet and then you will just wait for the samurais to come in for action to begin :)

All the items are carefully crafted and the presentation is superb. You’ll get excited when the next item will arrive and how will it arrive. I really like the teapot soup, wagyu beef shank and the sashimi (good wasabi).

A great way to wrap up our milestone.

WILL: 10th year celebration isn’t over! We are thankful for Citibank’s 1-for-1 deal and we got the chance to tick off Keyaki out of our must to eat list.

So what is rave about this Keyaki Restaurant located at Pan Pacific Hotel? Since the travel restriction implemented people are looking on ways to feel that they are somewhat outside the country. And behold! Keyaki has this minka (traditional Japanese house) and before you reached the restaurant, you will be welcomed by torii gate, zen garden, and koi pond. Once you entered the restaurant you will be amazed on the woodworks inside. Indeed! It is like traveling to Japan minus the weather. Hehe.

On food! Yes! I am delighted of their appetizer! It is fresh and hello there firefly squid! What really notable is their soup! Soup is presented in a pot and it quite uncommon for me(sorry) haha. It reminds me playing this kind of claypot when I am at age of 5. And on this 3rd course.. I am already full. Haha!

Beef shank is tender and there is a momentous amount egg yolk sauce on the grilled sea food. Yummmy!

No contest.. Keyaki is one of the top notch Japanese restaurant here in Singapore! They will make you really feel, see and taste that you are in Japan!

-300g salmon (cut to sashimi slices)

-dash of sesame oil

-furikake

-mozzarella (shredded)

Instructions:

Baked Sushi with Salmon Fillet and Real Crab Meat - Most Expensive Lutong Bahay Abbey Ever Cooked

VERDICT:

WILL: Many people are posting how you can have a budget-friendly baked sushi. They went for all kinds but we prefer to taste the normal toppings of a sushi, so we bought salmon and pre-cooked crab meat (not the orange imitation).

The taste? Superb! Salmon and crab meat gives a good umami flavour when partnered with nori and furikake. The creaminess of sour cream and mozarella cheese is overwhelmingly good. Plus the kick of wasabi! Oh-oh! It is fulfilling.

This is the most expensive ($20+)“lutong bahay” we have .. for now. Maybe we can do this once a year.

Nihon Mura Express - Rivervale Mall Branch

ABBEY: We went to Rivervale Mall to have dinner on another restaurant but got enticed by Nihon Mura Express.

They have a promo "Eat More, Save More" from Jan 9-Feb 28, 2017.
40 plates & above - $1/plate
30 – 39 plates - $1.20/plate
20 – 29 plates - $1.40/plate

We can only go up to 20. That will satisfy our hunger for some wasabi and sushi.

Pros:
1. Huge variety of sushi.
2. You can order sushi besides in the conveyor and it will be delivered fast. Just make sure to confirm your order.
3. They also have other appetizers like chicken (yakitori or fried).
4. Food is fresh and delicious.

Cons:
1. Wasabi is not that hot/spicy. And it is dry compared to other sushi shops we visited.
2. Green tea is not unlimited. 2 packs per serving and will be counted to the number of your plate.
3. Sushi serving or size is small. I can see that evident on my favorite inari.

Nihon Mura Express Promotion

WILL:  We are at Rivervale Mall for an Italian cuisine fix but we saw Nihon Mura and its promotion, I looked at Abbey and informed him that I'm missing the exquisite taste of wasabi. In that instant, Abbey pulled me in to Nihon Mura. :)

The selection at the conveyor belt is not as good with Sushi Express BUT! ---a big BUT! There is an iPad just beside your table for you to order some nice plates well prepared sushi, sashimi, handroll, its famous Slipper Lobster Mentai, and crispy bite size fried chicken. You cannot find those in any other restaurant with the same price with Nihon Mura. All of those, all in the menu, all food on the conveyor belt only costs S$1.60. Three plates of chicken + 2 plates of handroll will make you full. The price is worth it!

Now, we have a different sushi restaurant to dine to. :) Thanks Nihon Mura for making us full without going bankrupt! Haha!

Yakimix - SM Mall Of Asia

ABBEY: Wow,another buffet:) This is different because you will be the one who will cook. An open stove and a swipe of oil in the pan, then its cooking time. Mixing and  matching whatever recipe we got on the table until our tummy is full. It was a feast. I wanted to sleep after eating :) They charged 650-700php per person.

WILL: My Abbey went back, and the scheduled week of stay was well planned. Monday after work, we straight went to Mall of Asia. There we took the facial and foot spa at Let's Face It, then we pig out at Yaki Mix.

Yaki Mix was a buffet restaurant that offers non-smoke grill. Of course, i enjoyed the fruits and the dessert keep me coming back for more.

If i will go back in here? I think it will be a "no". One is enough.
