Precious Old China at The Central Market, Kuala Lumpur

ABBEY: You know what a restaurant looks like in movies where it is dimly lit and the gangsters will come and occupy the whole place? That’s the feel of Precious Old China restaurant at second storey of Central Market. Not that it is terrfying or scary but you’re like in a movie.

The restaurant is packed with big groups of people. You can see old wooden chairs, tables and cabinet and a bar is located at the left side of the entrance. But just press a button to get your order or bill.

Now, that is “new” stuff. I got Nasi Lemak. It has blue-white rice (mimics the china porcelain) and the chicken is curry chicken not fried and chicken lobak; all for (MYR12.80). Nothing much with the rice except for the color. But the curry chicken curry is delicious as well as the lobak which gives more flavor after dipping in sweet chili sauce.

You can pay via card but the bill must have a minimum of 50MYR.

WILL: When we arrived in KL Malaysia, all I want is to taste their local food with curry. So for our first meal for our trip at Central Market, I ordered Nyonya Laksa at Precious Old China. Well, of course Abbey went for the blue rice of Precious Nasi Lemak.

It totally made a difference when you sprinkle kalamansi or lime. It gave a spark. The soup is creamy, noodle itself was cooked to its perfection. Tourist are flagging this restaurant for a good reason.

'Till our next visit!

Little Penang Kafe at at Suria KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers Mall) - Kuala Lumpur

ABBEY: We just checked out at the hotel and went to KLCC mall for lunch and we found Little Penang Cafe. A cafe that serves local delights.

We were ushered to our seats and I ordered Nyonya Fried Chicken for MYR19. A blade of lemon grass was wounded on the chicken and then fried. It was crispy and savoury. It goes well with the sambal sauce and rice. Then I partnered it with a glass of kopi. Wow, what a great lunch.

WILL: We are at Malaysia and we are there to explore the local food and my-oh-my we found this treasure at KLCC Mall: The Little Penang Cafe.

There is no queue when we got there around 1pm but there are some tables reserved. Only few minutes passed, the tables are all occupied and there is long line of people waiting outside for their turn.

I got their famous and CNNGO #7 world's 7 most delicious food, the Penang Assam Laksa.

My mind was blown when I got my first spoonful of their soup! Whew! Miss that taste. It is literally an explosion of flavours inside my mouth. My tastebuds do not know which taste to concentrate haha! Spiciness, saltiness or the umami taste of that huge bowl, yes it is a big bowl that can be shared by two but I am sorry to tell I just gave Abbey about 3 spoons of it. Haha. Gluttony!

Kuddos to their staffs too! They are accurate! The turning of tables are fast enough that do not cause a big build up of queue outside. :)

Till we meet again!

WTS Travel Bus - Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (Booked at CatchThatBus)

ABBEY: It’s my first time going to Kuala Lumpur. Yey! My wife planned that our entry to the city is thru a bus. We purchased a couple of tickets online for 70SGD and our seats were reserved at WTS Travel busline. It will leave Jurong at 11:59PM on a Friday.

We were at front of Big Box and hopped on the bus and few minutes only we were headed on our way. We really started travelling at 2AM after the immigration ceremonies (and it’s a weekend). We arrived at TBS Terminal Bersepadu Selatan 6:30AM Saturday. We have 2 stopovers but we preferred to sleep.

The commute is ok and smooth, and cold :) The driver always ensure that we’re complete before going off.

WTS Travel Bus - Singapore to Kuala Lumpur

WILL: I am keeping an eye on the schedule of busses from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur for months. Yes with “S”. We are waiting for Abbey’s leave to be approved, but when the office schedule was updated, the bus I want to ride on is fully booked. On that, we went on based on our denoted time of departure and landed to WTS Travel.

This bus is just a “meh”. They only provide what is a necessary. A comfortable chair that you can recline and sleep to and an aircon. That’s it. No usb plug for you to charge, no tv, and meal to snack on. But our driver is exquisitely kind.

Our driver goes extra mile, he waited for us in front of customs Malaysia Customs Gate and gather us around. He accompanied us to our bus parking lot. Unlike other passenger experiencing the agony of checking one by one the plate number of the busses parked.

Thanks WTS for making our very first travel to KL by land comfortable.

You can see all the bus operators schedule and prices at CatchThatBus.com

Have a safe trip to all.

Element Kuala Lumpur - Luxury Studio & Suites

ABBEY: You’ll be able to enjoy perks and discounts if you’re a member of SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest). What do we got for our stay at Elements? First, a 500MYR room rate with king-sized bed with a view; complete with spa shower, wide screen tv, internet and includes breakfast. For another 60MYR, it was upgraded to a room with skyline view.

Element Hotel knows how to pamper their guests. Upon filling up the reservation form, we specified if we can leave our bags early in the morning so our day-tour will be light. Then the day itself, we were able to check-in by 7AM. Wow, earliest check-in I had.

The room is clean and the toiletries smell good. I was refreshed after my shower. After a long day, it was time to rest. The bed is very comfortable and the pillows and linens are soft. I dozed off in no time.

The morning meal is great. Lots of choices; laksa, nasi lemak, sausages, grilled tomatoes, bacon, eggs, cold cuts, and fruits.

They also have gym and swimming pool at 39th floor which we used before checking out. It was a wonderful experience. I would like to commend their staff for superb service.

WILL: Abbey, a proud member of SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) took the opportunity to book on KL’s newly opened hotel, the Elements Kuala Lumpur by Westin. Being a member, you can get a slight difference at the price of a room BUT you will have for sure to get a special treatment.

Element’s lobby is at the 40th floor and their rooms starts from 41st to 53rd floor. Our upgraded room is at 52nd. Abbey, upgraded the room and he is expecting that our bathroom may have a bathtub, but it didn’t. They provided a pleasant array of toiletries. The shampoo and body wash are fantastically fragrant. They supply lotion too!

It is facing the Petronas Twin Towers but another p building blocked one of those. Argh! The pillow and bed is so soft that it moulds and hugs our body to a good night sleep. Oh! They do not have bottled water on their fridge but they have a filtered tap water for you to enjoy their complimentary tea and coffee. Their tv is usb ready, you can charge your phones in there.

Don’t forget to visit their gym or try their free yoga sessions. The indoor saline pool excites not only the adults because of the view of Petronas but also the kids too.

Trace restaurant is open for a buffet breakfast and of course we indulge at Local food. I am so full, I forgot to take some granola treat and soya milk. Haha!

Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay. Hey! One more thing. We push our luck if we can make an early check-in by 7am through SPG website and when we reached the Element Kuala Lumpur by 8am, our room is there waiting for us. Satisfied and happy couple here!

Thanks Element Kuala Lumpur! Thanks to all smiling staff! We love you!

Sabio By The Sea at Quayside Isle (Sentosa Island)

ABBEY: After a heavy brunch at Miska, we went to Sabio by the Sea (still at Quayside Isle) for coffee and their famous dessert; Salty Butter Caramel Lava Cake..

I got a cappucino. The taste is not that strong but creamy. I enjoyed the dessert specially when the filling flowed down like lava after the cut. The caramel was not too sweet which is ok for me and it really went well with the ice cream.

WILL: We walked down the Quayside Isle on intention to make some spaces for our dessert. Yes! I won’t waste my time and $2 bus fee not to try the well known house signature dessert of Sabio by the Sea... the Pastel de Mantequilla Salada Carmelo de Lava or Salty Butter Caramel Lava Cake.

All is offering Chocolate Lava so, this is a new thing to explore to.

We partnered the Caramel Lava Cake with hot drinks. Tea for me, coffee for Abbey! Gosh! On instant, it was written in my fave list. Haha!

Go on take your date here at Quayside Isle. You will never forget the experience.

Miska Cafe at Quayside Isle (Sentosa Island)

ABBEY: My lovely wife planned this brunch date. We visited Miska at Sentosa Cove. You can catch a bus going there at Harbourfront Bus Interchange.

The view is great and relaxing; yacht, smiling people and sunny weather.

I got Doner and Rice. The chicken and veal is tender and moist. I eat them without the sauce (as I didn’t want the taste) and its good. I like the rice. The butter on it made me crave for more.

WILL: Husband’s brain is quite stressed. Why? He is joggling shifting job, 2 trainings, my constant reminder of blogposts, and family affairs. And one day, he blurted out “I want to go to a beach and relax!”, haha!

I cannot provide that request, why? No more leave is available for me. All used up! Bleh! And to accommodate that Abbey’s wish, I told him that I set-up a mystery date place. Tandaannnn! He wanted to feel sea breeze, We went to Sentosa’s Quayside Isle.  It is just beside W Hotel.

We took taxi from Harbourfront bus Interchange and alight at right after the parking spaces of yachts.

We dined at Miska Cafe. I went for Falafel! The size is a shocker. Their serving is for giants. Haha! I inly finished half and Abbey is so full that he do not have the audacity to take some of it. Two thumbs up for Miska’s Falafel.

Keep an eye on their alcoholic promotions. Booze and food plus beautiful scenery equals total relaxation.
