Good Old Days Sentosa - $20 Local Food Buffet Dinner

ABBEY: We got good news in the past month so we want to share it with our close friends in Singapore. But only Chat was available that time. We went to Good Old Days Sentosa (Beach Station).

For a 20SGD budget per person you can have a buffet of local dishes. They serve laska, bee hon, seafood tofu, fish fillet, chicken and desserts like fruits and cake.

There is not much variety of food but we enjoyed the taste of local food and also catching up with our stories. We even made our version of Yong Tau Foo with curry.

This really gave us time to reminisce the “good old days” as well as the bright future ahead.

WILL: We received a miracle. A huge one! And of course we need to share with our friend here in Singapore. Abbey, I and Chat roamed around at Sentosa and ate dinner at Good Old Days.

This is one of the cheapest eat-all-you can in Singapore. It serves not more than 12 local dishes that time. Not too much variety to choose from. Even on their drinks, they only offer orange juice and water.

I am quite happy because of their smooth and creamy mini chocolate cake. The "DIY laksa" is not that good. Frustrated in a sense but I am not there to be sad. We are there to celebrate, so I indulge on their sweet watermelon and sliced oranges.

For me, $20+ is a ripped off. I saw a dismayed face with my friend so I invited Abbey and Chat to get some coffee in Starbucks near at Universal Studios.

Ovomaltine Crunchy Cream Spread

ABBEY: At last, we picked a new item for our chocolate spread. We tried Nutella, the one from Ikea and this time we chose Ovomaltine.

It is a crunchy spread. Not too sweet and can be eaten on its own :)
We tried to partner it up with a chunky peanut butter and it went very well. A meal in itself.

WILL:
Ovomaltine was once a craze here in Singapore. For years, there's a voice inside me not to buy it. But last month, they throw an offer for $6.50 and in that cue, we bought a jar.

I am expecting it to be crunchy like it was advertised in its label. Well. It delivers frustration on me. The sweetness is not enough; is lacking of something. So I decided not to eat some of it again. :(

One day, Abbey spread Ovamaltine at the bread and peanut butter on another one, put it together and it is overwhelmingly good. Actually it is addictive.

Ovomaltine, for me cannot stand alone, it needs peanut butter to be craved for.

Wolf Burgers (Changi City Point)

ABBEY: We tried to have snack at the Wolf Burgers (Changi City Point). They brought back their waffle promo. A set of waffle with ice cream comes with a coffee. I got Espresso Caramel Waffle with Coffee Ice Cream and cappuccino for (SGD8.90).

The waffles are crispy in the outside but soft in the inside and it goes well with the ice cream. Each bite is being washed down with a sip of hot coffee.

Perfect for that gloomy, cold afternoon.

Wolf Burgers (Changi City Point) - MENU
WILL: I go to Abbey's office once in a blue moon. And every now and then, I go there with a very hungry stomach. I have Mamma Mia on my head to dine in but unfortunately they only have kiosk that sells pizza for takeaway. Beside them is Wolf Burgers.

Wolf Burgers caught my curiosity on their miso tofu veggie burger ($9.90), Abbey got that for me and matched it up with fries and cola.

The texture is smooth BUT miso made the tofu too salty. Avocado somewhat stabilized the saltiness but the quantity of avocado is not enough to mask the strong taste of miso. When is totally unbearable for me, I requested Abbey to swap so I can get some sweets from his waffle.
