Seasonal Tastes at The Westin Singapore

ABBEY: Finally we managed to got a reservation on Singapore Restaurant Week. It is on Westin Singapore (Marina View, Asia Tower 2). Normally a dinner buffet on Sundays costs 55sgd but with the discount it went to 35sgd per person.

We were received warmly by their staff and led us to our table. It was game time.

I got plain naan and tandoori chicken as starter. The chicken was tender, and spicy. Next I had grilled beef along with roasted lamb. Then I indulged on salmon sushi. Maybe because it is Singapore Restaurant Week, I observed that there is less variety of food. Or maybe this is the whole menu.

Free flow of strawberry iced tea, iced tea, coffee and hot tea are included. I was expecting to see the chocolate fountain, but it turned out the fondue was in a sauce pan :) I liked their dark chocolate gelato topped with cookie.

WILL: 3 years ago we participated at Restaurant Week by Dining City, that was our first time and the experience was great.

Our March schedule is not so tight and we need some time to get out of our daily routine..to distress..to unwind. As usual, Abbey and I always receive an update regarding Singapore's Restaurant Week event and no hesitations I reserved a seat for dinner at Seasonal Taste of newly-built Westin Singapore.

Seasonal Taste is located at 32nd floor. After alighting at the taxi, we were escorted by their all-smile people to the hotel lobby then to the lift. We are amazed by the sight from the lobby; a well organized containers in PSA and the view of Marina Bay Sands from different angle.

I am expecting a set menu will be served on us, but we were delighted to hear that we are there for a buffet. Exploring the buffet floor, I was quite frustrated to see that choices were meagre. But hey, I need to cheer up even with less choices, this is still limitless food.. eat-all-you-can!

As usual, I ate my greeneries lavishly. Skipped lambs (I do not eat lambs) then went straight for sashimi. Their chef gladly offered me a new sliced salmon. I saw tempura then I get a few, tastes so good. I went back to get more, but the chef seemed forgot to re-fill the basin of tempura.

Beehoon is great and it is the one that filled up my stomach! I asked for tea and they gave me teapot. I think it is time for the dessert.

I am fan of cream puffs but their one is hhmmmm. Lack of creaminess on their custard filling and blant taste of puffs. I say okay, I will go and splurge on the oreo cheesecake. How's the taste? I just ate a small piece to check it out, then I rest my spoon and pushed the plate for Abbey to finish. Raspberry gelato topped with fresh chocolates cookies is the savior of my night.

The people is so gracious in giving us the food and clearing our table. We forgot to present our SPG membership card upon payment but when we approached their people, the happily assist us to add-on points on our card.

Thanks baby Abbey for this night and sorry for the rants! Haha!

iLight Marina Bay 2014 - Asia’s Only Sustainable Light Art Festival

ABBEY : iLight Festival drew more and more visitors every after exhibition. And the light installations are getting better and better. It was displayed from The Promontory up to the The Esplanade. So it is a long walk for the visitors but they will enjoy them. The displays were divided to 2 paths.

Path A includes The Pool, Happy Croco, Wishing Tree, Lightscape Catcher, Floating Hearts, Joujou-Ours (Bear heads), The Guardian Angels (made from watering cans), Fool's Gold etc.

Some of the installations that attracted me on path B are Giant Dandelions, Cloud, 1,26 Singapore, Digital Wattle, The Wheels of Industry (pedal on to light up) and Celebration of life (A story projected in Art Science Museum).

We're looking forward for the next set of exhibits on the coming years.

WILL: Are you one of the people here in Singapore working just along the vicinity of Marina Bay Sands? Well, I am not! Haha! I am from Tanjong Pagar area and I always make a way to go to Marina Bay once iLight announced the opening of its event.

Instead of the usual that we always start at Merlion Park, that day we went first to Marina Bay Sands for a dinner at PasarBella. Then after fueling for a long walk, we went to Marina Galley to get some maps while waiting for sun sets for the exhibit to light up.

We walked out from Marina Bay Gallery once the evening hit Singapore. We started to take some photos from the huggable bears, to the floating hearts, colorful “the Pool”. I like the most at Route A is the Wishing Tree of The Living Project. I wished for money that time and on the following day, my husband received an unexpected performance bonus. Haha! Answered very fast.

Route B starts form the Helix Bridge to all the way up to Esplanade Area. My favorite here is the ArtScience Museum turned into a big screen and the floating football field opened for 1.26 Singapore installation. It nice to lie down and stare to the exhibit from below.

iLight 2014 hit Marina Bay way better than previous years. Thanks guys for the emails for keeping us updated regarding this event.

See you next-next year!

Todai Restaurant at Marina Bay Sands Singapore

ABBEY: Todai restaurant offers buffet of Korean, Chinese,  Japanese, and Singaporean cuisine. We visited them last March at The Shoppes@Marina Bay Sands along with our housemates.

As usual, we come at the exact time. Never waste a minute during buffets :)

As starter, I had chicken karaage and fries; the chicken was crispy and juicy. Next, I indulge in salmon sashimi and inari. Then I got some skinny pizza and pasta along with chunk of pork belly and slice of steak. The meat was juicy and moist. I repeated the process until I'm full :)

Since Todai is celebrating Korean Strawberry Festival when we doned in, we got a complimentary strawberry shake. One person costs 68sgd for a Sunday dinner with free flow of drinks.

WILL: Are you craving for sushi and yet your sweet tooth is kicking also? One plate or two serving will not satisfy your drooling? Todai will be the answer for you.

After Abbey bought his dream iPad mini on the first IT Show of 2014, we immediately headed to Todai to meet up our housemates for the dinner.

Hastily went for tempura. Then I attacked their sushi. They are the best.
The chefs really thought really hard for their masterpieces. Over and over and over, I ate those sushis. Haha. I also got one round of fresh oysters.

Hail to their great pyramid of macarons. I really make my tummy full of those and I partnered it with a tea.

Thanks to our housemates for inving us for a dinner. Till next, next month guys!
