BWB - Burgers, Wings, Bar - Orchard Central

ABBEY: I once heard from a seminar to celebrate your successes and yes we did.

We went to Burgers vs Wings + Bar at the 11th storey of Orchard Central. Chat got promoted and we got US visas. I got their recommended classic heavyweight burger. The works? Angus beef patty, fried egg, tomato, bacon, chilli con carne, onions, cheese where in between the buns. It is huge and I need to take it down. The chilli con carne gave a unique taste on the burger. We also have hickory-smoked barbecue wings. Don't be fooled by its reddish color which you think it is so spicy. They are sweet and has a bit of spice. I think it is not Burger vs Wings. They teamed up to knock me down. Haha.

Celebrating Promotion and US Visa Approval :)

WILL: We are on a habit to celebrate even to the smallest accomplishment we are achieving and when we dined at Burgers, Wings, Bar (BWB) at Orchard Central, we are there to merry-make about Chat's promotion and our Tourist US Visa Approval

This restaurant is located at 11th floor and when you just make few steps at the elevator, you will be awed by the sight of new and old buildings around the area.

Back to the BWB food. I went for its lunch promotion (it is still available even on holidays) which is Handpressed Burger with Cheese for $11.90. (comes with fries and drinks). We requested for all well-done patties. It is tasty and you can distinguish immediately the taste from fastfood burgers.

Well recommended. This is a beautiful place specially on night time, perfect for romantic dates. Wink-wink! Haha!

Cafe Mondo at Orchard Central

ABBEY: After our sumptuous dinner, our bodies are going for shutdown. But still we're not at home, we're in a mall. So we went to Cafe Mondo.

I was about to order their signature hot chocolate but their affogato entry caught my eye. For 7.5sgd I got a shot of espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Yes it was small but it gave me a jolt. The vanilla ice cream is smooth and creamy. Half of it I melted with the espresso; instant ice-creamed coffee :)

They also serve pasta, cakes, chilled beverages and tea.

WILL: Its a waste of time, money and experience if you do not try the varieties of cafes here in Singapore. So after our fulfilling meal at Tony Roma's we paved our way to Cafe Mondo for a dose of hot drinks.

It is one of your unusual cafes that you can find at the stretch of Orchard Road. It was exactly located at Orchard Central 2nd floor.

Since my throat is shouting for me to take liquid in and my brain wars me that taking anything in to my stomach will make me vomit and that is the reason I asked for Calming Your Tummy tea.

When I soaked the teabag the water turns to green then after few seconds turned to brown. Sip by sip my tummy pacifies. Love the minty taste and soothing effect.

Delight yourself and check it this out cafe that serves coffee, tea and ice cream in one roof :)

Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant - Orchard Central

ABBEY: It's been a very late celebration, but only 22nd of April is the best time for us to dine at Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant.

We did reserve a week before and at last.. the time came. The restaurant is in the eighth storey of Orchard Central. Once we were led to the table, I put my bag down and started to roam around checking what they have to offer. They have fried delights like crispy chicken, ebi tempura, and salmon head. I don't know how long they have been on the serving station but I find them too oily and not that crispy anymore.

They also have grilled foods; baby potatoes, sweet corn, pork, squid, and chicken yakitori. Beef and chicken tepanyaki were also available. Mussels and shrimps were there but they're off limits to me. So I feasted on salmon meat and belly. Every bite is heaven once the salmon is dipped the soy sauce and wasabi. I washed them all with lemonade, soda and hot green tea.

The dinner costs almost 75sgd for both of us.

WILL: Do you know the song “Everything is Awesome” from the 2014 Lego Movie? Sing with me using the below lyrics...

Everything is Oily... When you eat at Kiseki..
Evertyhing is Oilyyyyy!

Why I said that? Read more.

The cashier in front told us that Salmon Head is their house recommendation. When I saw the salmon head, right away picked one of it. I giggled loudly when I saw the mountain of ebi tempura. I got a plateful instantly.

I went to our table and agonizingly waiting for my husband to take his food. After a prayer of thanks, I attacked the tempura relentlessly. Haha! But on every bite I notice that it is oily. I took the Salmon head, and its oily too. I used tissue to the crab claw to squeeze out the unnecessary oil.

This is not-all-rant-blog, I want to commend their hotpot, the perfectly grilled corn and the bean sprout!

Thanks Kiseki for being part of our April celebration. Hope you check on “too oily” issue.

Spanish Doughnuts Singapore

ABBEY: Wilma told me that we will be having Spanish doughnut as snack. On my mind, it is a bread with sweet topping and has a shape that resembles a ring. When we went to Spanish Doughnuts in Orchard Central, I got surprised when I saw that Spanish doughnuts are long like wands. They are dipped in melted chocolate (white, brown, or dark). They're called churros by the way. Also they offer the kind of pipe-like ones. Six-inch churros (bombons) are filed with bavarians and dipped in chocolate topped with sprinkles.

You can get one for a price of less than 5sgd. I liked the dark chocolate bonbon churro as well as their  triple chocolate. The original churro is also delicious as you can taste the richness of the bread once it got fried.

WILL: Spanish doughnut here in Singapore? Before their 3+1 promo ends, Abbey and I scheduled a dessert date at Orchard.

Luckily there is a seat for two. I asked for the plain churros and Abbey was enticed to get the flavored ones. The cashier will ask for what dipping you want for the plains, I selected the white chocolate.

The first thing I felt when I get my churroz out of the paper bag is...it is too oily. This is my first time to get one of those so I thought it is just natural. Anyway, I can eat it all. 4 gigantic non-flavored fried doughnuts. Haha!

We take-away some of it and after refrigerated for days, the same texture is still there. Still yummy with my white chocolate dip.

Please check them out at Orchard Central.
