Embark on a Flavorful Adventure with Konyo's "Kamayan sa Bukid in Singapore" Buffet!

ABBEY: Imagine going to a province and it’s fiesta. And you can eat as many times as you can. That’s the vibe at Konyo brunch. For SGD 19.9 we enjoyed the lunch platter which includes crackling bagnet, chicken-pork adobo, lumpiang shanghai, pancit canton, tilapia, rice, kangkong, talong and okra. Pair them with kamatis-sibuyas ensalada, spiced toyo-mansi and vinegar and bagoong and you’re set.

We opted selected items only for our second and third servings as we can’t finish another platter. Our Pinoy food cravings were satisfied. We even have kwentuhan (chitchat) with the staff.

Wash them all down with bulalo soup. Wow!

WILL: Another month, another buffet. And to celebrate another milestone (Chat’s 15th anniversary in Singapore) we opted to try the pretty infamous Filipino buffet situated in Orchard. Ahmm yes, you have read it right, it is infamous due to some reviews we read in their facebook page. S$19.90 for 4-hour buffet, we braved to try and see for ourselves if the bad reviews are true. Here we go…

Konyo is a bar and only offers lunch every Saturday and Sunday. And we were surprised that their restaurant was not well lit for lunchtime, therefore we requested to move to a table with a good light. Our first platter came pretty fast. Everything tastes good and acceptably oily. Haha. My favourite is their fried tilapia and pork bagnet! Truly perfect for a steaming hot rice! Second order came like a little late and it seems that one of the waiters forgot that we requested food.

We would like to commend Erika for her warm service and we will surely comeback for another affordable and tummy filling buffet.

Experience the Weekday Buffet at Yum Cha: A Dim Sum Delight in Changi Singapore!

ABBEY: Dumpling craving hit us again so we booked a table at Yum Cha Changi for dumpling buffet. The ambiance is like an old Chinese restaurant; quartz tables with wooden chairs.

We immediately ordered a serving of roasted pork, pork ribs with garlic, siew mai, and prawn dumpling. In addition to that we also had mushroom dumplings, shrimp beancurd roll and fresh prawn rice flour roll.

We ate to our hearts’ content. It was great experience as the staff keeps on delivering our food to almost no delays. Just keep eating.

WILL: Eyeing for this dimsum buffet since pre-covid era. They are significantly located at Changi IT District and their signage is prominently inviting for everyone. But Abbey’s office was relocated at Penang and my desire to dine in Yum Cha faded. But the power of social media emerged and the cravings resurfaced and I booked it for monthly date with Abbey.

So how was it? I want to applaud the people of Yum Cha Changi. The restaurant vibes like a home. Very welcoming and the waitresses make it sure that we are not waiting too long for our food nor drinks. You shouldn’t miss the Crystal Chives Dumpling and Yum Cha Prawn Dumpling.

This is so worth it. Very recommended!

Premier Fine Dining Dim Sum Buffet in Singapore | Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL on Beach Road

ABBEY:

Premier Fine Dining Dim Sum Buffet in Singapore | Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL on Beach Road

WILL: Abbey passed 4 certifications from Oracle and he decided to celebrate those on a dim sum buffet at Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL on Beach Road

We arrived 30mins early on a Sunday and because Singapore is still on DORSCON Orange Circuit Breaker Phase 2, we can’t linger around at Parkroyal’s lobby. We just stand in front of the restaurant.

Exactly 1130, their doors opened for diners and we were advised that they will serve first the specialities on menu. My favourite in that is the steamed dumpling with seafood in clear soup, it is packed with seafood (of course) and not typically served in a different dim sum restaurant.

After they served their specials, we started ordering that seems appetizing on the menu. The two items that really shoots on me are the sliced pork in garlic and chili sauce and the boiled spare ribs soup with golden mushrooms, bean curd and preserved capsicum. Why I like those? First the sliced pork is very tender and complements well with the spiciness of chili sauce and the pork ribs gingery/spicy soup gives a soothing relief on that rainy day.

It is totally recommended for you to try dim sum buffet of Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL on Beach Road. One tip is order food by batch, well at least 5-7 plates, there’s a time a that all guests arewaiting for the dim sums to be served for more than 30mins.

Tim Ho Wan Singapore @ Plaza Singapura

ABBEY: So what's the reason for people queueing on this dim sum restaurant? For one, it is their baked pork bun; a soy-sauced pork delight inside a sweet bun. An order of 3 costs 4.50 SGD.

I also tried their rice bowl topped with chicken, sausage, and mushroom. Be careful of the metal bowl though to avoid burns. My order is flavorful and delicious. It would be better if they will serve it in large portion.

I also had a taste of the carrot cake as well as the vegetable dumpling. We ordered free flow of tea. The tea has a unique wood taste; weird but a good twist.

WILL: Tim Ho Wan is one of the Michelin Star restaurant in Asia . Of course all of the people, including us is so curious what's in store that captured Michelin's attention. After our concert at K Suites in Bugis+, we hailed a taxi to go to Plaza Singapura.

So lucky that the queue is not so long and the turnover is quite fast. While on waiting for our turn to dine in, we were given an order slip and once we reached our table, not more than 10 minutes we received some of the food and they completed our order for not more than 20mins.

I have a congee for our very early dinner. Usually I do not eat congee to any store but I had a voice inside me pushed me to have one of it. Well, for $4.20 I got a very tasty congee. Never tasted any like this before. No need of extra condiments. It is just perfect.

The famous pork bun. What’s with it? A melts-in-your-mouth bun and a Chinese-styled sauced pork. I decided to go for 2 of those. Haha. The carrot cake is simple and even their shrimp and dumpling.

We will surely come back here for their buns and congee.
