Nasty Cookie - Singapore's first NY Gourmet Cookie Store

ABBEY: We had this craving for cookies and we want to get it from new shops. And then we found Nasty Cookies at Funan Mall. The teal-light-bluish shop is selling jumbo cookies. And they come in different flavours.

We got a box of six and each cookie is individually boxed. How cool is that? Perfect for gifts. You won’t be shy to give it away as they also taste good. We had Choc Chip, Dark Choc Chip, Biscoff Cookie, White Choc Macademia, Oh! Smores, and Cookies N Cream Cheesecake.

All of them are decadent and will definitely satisfy your sugar needs. As their message on the wall; it is worth every calorie. Haha. Just to give you an idea, a cookie costs almost an average price of a typical hawker dish.

WILL: I am quite frustrated with my latest trip with "chunky" cookie (you know what I am saying? haha) and Facebook’s algorithm worked again and enticed me and Abbey to try the new Nasty Cookie. One of the branches of Nasty Cookie is at Funan Mall. It is quite hidden so take time and patience to find it. But you will never get wrong of the store due to glaring Tiffany Blue color.

That time they only offer a few selection and I am astounded of the price. It is steep! Haha! The cookie’s diameter is not that big but it is thick. Abbey and I chose Dark Chocolate Chip, Biscoff Cookie, Oh! Smores, Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia, Cookies and Creme Cheesecake.

We do not have a microwave but heat it up using an oven. The chocolate, marshmallow or whatever flavor inside the cookie oozes out with delight. The flavour is intensified by the heat. The dough texture is perfect. Not hard, not crumbly, quite chewy but not so sweet! Blends perfectly on toppings.

Now, Nasty Cookie is my favourite store cookie! Do not skip their Biscoff Cookie & Oh! Smores!

Frozen Brazo de Mercedes Recipe

This is a twist to the classic Brazo de Mercedes that you will surely love.

INGREDIENTS:
Meringue
10 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
Confectioners sugar

Custard:
10 egg yolks
14 ounces condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Crust:
1 200g-pack or graham crackers (preferably crushed)
1/2 block of butter (melted)

Vanilla ice cream

Procedure:

Meringue:
Put the egg whites and cream of tartar in a mixer. Beat them until the mixture bubbles. Make the meringue by gradually adding the granulated sugar. Mix until soft peaks are formed.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place wax paper in a cookie sheet and grease it. Put the meringue and flatten it to 1/2-inch thickness. Bake it in the oven for the 22 minutes. When time is up, let the meringue cool.
Dust it with confectioners sugar to easily remove it from the wax paper.

Custard:
While baking the meringue, whisk the yolks and mix it with the condensed milk and vanilla extract. Put it in a pot and set the heat to low while mixing it thoroughly.  Once done, set it aside.

Crust:
In a bowl, mix butter and graham crackers until the texture is like a wet sand. This will serve as your base. Put the mixture in a serving dish and compress it with the bottom of a glass. Place it on a freezer to harden.

Assembly:
Spread the custard on top of the crust.
Layer it vanilla ice cream.
Put the meringue on top.

WILL: Can’t sleep and I kept on browsing the internet and there’s a recipe that blew my mind. So...without hesitation I sent the link to Abbey. Another challenge for him!

Tell you! This dessert makes me happy! I am not sure but my brain releases happy hormones! Wohooo! The taste is totally amazing. The merengue gives a soft texture, custard is chewy and vanilla ice cream blends perfectly. The crumbly crust balances the all in all sweetness. It is addicting!

This is real! Another dessert on Abbey’s sleeves! Blessed to have this kind of hubby!

Magnolia Bakery's Famous Banana Pudding Easy Recipe

Abbey: Wilma told me one day that she wanted to have banana pudding. I looked for restaurants or cafe offering this but sadly the only restaurant who sells it is already closed. And the Magnolia Bakery in US is too far. So I made it.

For best results, do this 3 days before the occasion or event.

Here’s how.

Ingredients:
1 can of condensed milk
1 1/2 cup of ice cold water
3 cups of heavy cream (thickened cream)
1 packet of Jell-O instant vanilla pudding
1 box Nilla wafers
4 cups or 4 large ripe banana.

Combine water and condensed milk and mix for 1 minute.
Add the instant vanilla pudding and mix for 2 minutes.
Put the mixture in a container and have it settled in fridge for 30 minutes.
While waiting slice the bananas to small pieces.
Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks are formed.
Fold the pudding into the cream.

Do the layers in a pan: wafers, banana, cream-pudding mixture then repeat.
Put in fridge and serve after.

On the day he made the it, it taste 'meh'. But when we let to sit the pudding for 2 days. Gosh! The banana and wafer sinked-in together in a rhythm that my tastebuds shouts for joy. Haha! Nice description right?

Creamy, not that sweet, tasty and adorably perfect.

Colleagues got to tried it too! And they loved Abbey even more. Haha

Nutella Flan Recipe

Ingredients: for 3 medium-size llanera
6 egg yolks
1 can condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
4 tablespoonful Nutella
2 tsp vanilla extract

Caramel: 2-3 tablespoon sugar per llanera

1. Put sugar in llanera and place it under stove (low heat)
2. Once it liquifies, remove from heat and set aside. Make sure that all sugar is dissolved.
3. Mix other ingredients in a bowl slowly so it will not be aerated too much.
4. Use a strainer when putting the mixture in the containers to filter bubbles and lumps.
5. Have a pot boiling with water. And then steam the mixture for 30mins.
6. Let it cool for sometime and put it in fridge. Serve it cold.

WILL: Abbey told me that he have a surprise for me. He can’t hold the excitement so he told me that he’lll do a chocolate flan for me this holiday season. A bright bulb of idea sprung in my head, I get in touch straight away with my Ate Beth for her to cook this unique dessert. An instant business was built that day and she have more than 50 orders for 25th December alone.

Abbey not satisfied for a simple chocolate, he combined Nutella with yolks! The result! A PIECE OF HEAVEN! The creaminess of egg and milk went well together with the sweetness of Nutella Chocolate Spread.

Abbey never fails to create sweet surprises! Love it Chef Abbey!

Razon's of Guagua - Pampanga's Famous Halo-halo & Pancit Luglug

ABBEY: Razon's was famous for their halo-halo. So we gave in to our cravings after our facial session. We visited their branch at Monumento Circle. The staff warmly greeted us and we told our order: halo-halo and sizzling bulalo.

A few minutes later our food was served. I assure you that the gravy is delicious. It really goes well with the soft and flavorful bulalo. Wilma even ordered for another serving of the gravy.

Then time came for dessert. Only three ingredients: macapuno, leche flan and saging na sabah. Their ice is finely crushed and mixing it all together is a breeze. It is not too sweet and you won't ask for sugar to boost the sweetness. It was a 500php-snack which I enjoyed with my loved one.

WILL: I am craving for halo-halo and everytime someone asked me what I want to eat when I got in Manila, I always replied "Gusto ko ng halo-halo". I got what I want, Chowking and Razon's but for now we will blog about the famous Razon's dessert.

Surprised that they have a branch at Monumento, after we visited Let's Face It, I asked Abbey to dine in before going back to my Tatay's pad.

I planned for their halo-halo only but my favorite sizzling bulalo enticed me. We ordered 2 halo-halo, one sizzling bulalo, 2 rice, and an extra gravy.

Drooling! The halo-halo never fails me. The finely shaved ice, the leche flan, sabah,  macapuno bombed up sweetness inside my mouth so yummy. Gluttony showed up when the sizzling plate appeared in front of us. So flavourful.

Abbey and I will sure mark their Monumento branch.
