Café&Meal MUJI at Jewel Changi Singapore

ABBEY: I was surprised when Wilma told me that we’ll be having dinner at Muji at Jewel. Seriously? It is all household items. Turns out they have cafe and deli. Wow. I got the Hamburger with Burdock, Shiitake Sauce (SGD 18.9)What I like the most is their 16-grain rice. It has a lot of texture and you can even eat it on its own. The meal is savoury and will really fill you up. Pay extra for the drinks.

WILL: Even that our workplace is kilometres apart, Abbey and I find time to have a date night after office hours. What’s the newest “tambayan” for me and Abbey? It is the Jewel Changi. You should not ask why. Everybody knew that Jewel caters a wide array of food pallete. And one of those is the huge floor for Café&Meal MUJI.

For dinner, I chose to have Pork Katsu Donburi ($15.90). The pork is not that salty and perfectly soft and juicy. Well unlike other that’s overfried. The unique onset egg that gave the extra creaminess in my mouth. And the star of the meal...the 16-grain rice! It is indeed a luxury! How a simple looking rice will be that mushy and will give emphasis to every flavour of your viand. Wow! Just wow!

I am an instant fan of Muji Cafe! If you are at Jewel Changi, this is another cafe to visit and try!

Maison de PB at Jewel Changi

ABBEY: After out dinner at Muji, we went for coffee at Maison PB (Jewel). The ambiance is cozy with its “kitcheny-homey” feel. I got a cup of Caramel Cafe Latte. And we partnered it with a pastry. The pastry is sweet and really complemented the coffee well.

WILL: Jewel Changi is a home for new restaurants and cafes in Singapore. They are not your usual/ordinary cafes. Some of those occupies until 2nd floor like the Maison de PB. Of course after a heavy meal at Muji Café, we headed to Maison de PB for desert and drinks. To my delight, I ordered a heart-shaped bread and hot matcha tea.

Pain Coeur, $5.50(Heart Shaped bread) is so flavorsome. The bits of strawberry and sweet glazed is perfect. Matcha tea is not bland and fake. Haha. It is thick, creamy and tasty! Just perfect for the Pain Couer. The café is good for a relaxing tea time and 100% good for people watching

We will sure come back here to try their steaks. So excited for it.

Max's Restaurant Singapore

ABBEY: We celebrated my natal day at Max’s Singapore. A bowl of kare-kare and their famous fried chicken were served. The chicken is soft and I enjoyed eating it to the bones.

The peanut-based beef stew really worked its wonders with each spoonful of rice. Match it with bagoong (shrimp paste) and it will be a delight.

For dessert we had a serving of halo halo. It came with the usual; beans, nata de coco, jelly, leche flan and ube. Finished it to the last drop.

WILL: Another Philippine food chain opens it doors to Singapore Market. Max's Restaurant Singapore is located at Ground Floor of Far East Plaza. A place where many Filipino gathers on their weekend off. On Abbey’s 36th birthday, we went there to celebrate the day. To our surprise, on a weekday night, the place is packed and have a mid-queue outside.

We feasted on half fried chicken ($16.80), Kare-Kare or Beef Peanut Stew ($16.80) and Halo-Halo ($12.80). That’s a truly a good celebration.

Okay, the verdict. Is it the same taste with the Philippine branches? Yes. It is. The chicken still brought the nostalgic feeling of my childhood. Kare-kare’s creamy soup is still there, half cook vegetable and tender meat of beef. Halo-Halo, not that outstanding.

We will surely be going back in here. But to tell you frankly, $16.80 for half fried chicken way expensive compared to other chicken restaurants.

Disneyland® Park - California

ABBEY: We visited Disneyland Park at California on 23rd of December. It was drizzling and really cold. But those didn’t hinder us to see what’s at Mickey’s place. First stop is Peter Pan’s flight. It seems we’re really flying as we can see bird’s eyeview of London.

Next is It’s a Small World. We keep on checking the Filipino dolls but the theme is all about the holidays. Maybe the highlight of our day is meeting Mickey Mouse himself. At last, we got a picture with him and our timing is right; less queue time. Our lunch is at Alien Pizza Planet where we had, of course, pizza and mac and cheese. After the break we headed for our photoshoot session with Chewbacca. It was fun and we burst to laughter with all those Chewbacca jokes. My shooting skills failed me at Astro Blasters having the lowest score. At last we found Nemo at the Submarine Voyage. The pool is small on the outside but it’s a different deep, big world down there. Next is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge where we saw the Millennium Falcon and First Order TIE Echelon. I’m proud to say that I survived Space Mountain. Hahaha.

We had our rest at Jungle Cruise while listening to the puns of our boat guide. Schedule was full for Fantasmic but we got seats for Mickey and the Magical Map. Our last stop is at Haunted Mansion.
Before heading home, Wilma got her food wish; corndog. It’s big but more on the coating side. Haha.

Be sure to have your Fastpass to get into the attractions quicker.

Disneyland® Park - California

WILL: This will be our first time to Disneyland California Park and great thing is we are with Abbey’s fam bam. It is raining, I am quite unwell but we still pushed the exciting event for Lapuz Family. Well, andun na kami, aatras pa ba? Haha! We are early, as in we woke in our unusual timing in the early morning and with a prayer, the rain became drizzle. Thank you Almighty!

After parking, we rode a tram and immediately started the fun. Please watch our video. Most of the rides at Hong Kong Disneyland is present there, maybe that is the signature of each park. We only watched one show which I totally enjoyed and finally ate a corndog! Fantastic!

What I really enjoyed is spending time with Abbey’s Family. The “Chewbacca” jokes will definitely not be forgotten. So hilarious! High Five Tita Beth! Thank you Lapuz Family for all the efforts and time spent with us.

Now I wonder what will be the other Disneyland Parks may offer.

Truefitt & Hill Barbershop in Singapore

ABBEY: Talking  about man-pampering, my wife gave me a makeover when we went to Truefitt and Hill Barbershop at Marina Bay Sands. You’ll be in Sherlock-time scene once you enter the shop.

My barber, Alam is very kind to give suggestions on how can I have a better look. “Alam” is a Filipino word which translates to “know”. Alam really knows his stuff. I got a great hairstyle, a trimmed and shaved beard and mustache.

Not only that, I also had the whole work; shampoo, cold and hot towels as well as a massage. I’m warning you all of these didn’t come cheap. They cost almost 200SGD. But it’s really worth the value for your money with the service and experience. Definitely putting this on my budget.

WILL: Abbey always treats me to a salon. He does have a budget for my hair regimen every year. Hmmm, I do not have that budget. Why? Men are not so picky who will manage thair mane right? Well..WRONG! As part of Abbey’s 10th year celebration here in Singapore, I booked him to a barbershop that holds a Guinness Book Of Records of the oldest barbershop, the Truefitt & Hill.

Truefitt & Hill has a branch at Marina Bay Sands and Duke of Edinburgh — is one of the profiles they are serving. Wow! A Royal! Please free up a 2 hours of your day to enjoy the full experience of it. I can see that my husband is totally pampered that time.

A Royal Hair Cut SGD 75 and Shave SGD80. It is a total makeover and indeed a new look for him. Everybody was shockingly amazed on the transformation. Haha! Thanks Alam for making my husband so gwapo.
