Kwee Zeen Buffet: A Must-Try Sunday Brunch at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa?

ABBEY: We had a buffet at Kwee Zeen (Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa).

Though it was French-themed, one of the highlights for me was the lobster and prawns, which were incredibly fresh and paired surprisingly well with balsamic vinegar. I found myself going back for seconds (and thirds!) of the salt-baked fish, which was moist, juicy, and beautifully seasoned. The beef from the carvery station was equally satisfying, carved to perfection and full of flavor.

For those who enjoy Indian food, the buffet does not disappoint. I enjoyed pairing naan with rich butter chicken, along with tender mutton from the briyani; a hearty combination that’s hard to beat. The spread also includes seafood delights like seasoned baby octopus, as well as fresh sashimi featuring salmon and tuna.

Of course, no buffet is complete without desserts. I ended my meal with a sweet and refreshing finish to the feast with classic eclairs, fresh watermelon, and ice cream. Drinks such as soda, coffee, and tea are included in the buffet price, but if you’d like to elevate your dining experience, you can top up for wine, cocktails, or even a Bloody Mary.

With its wide selection, fresh ingredients, and relaxing resort setting, dining at Kwee Zeen makes for a wonderful experience whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself to a leisurely meal at Sentosa.

WILL: If you’ve been looking for a luxurious Sunday brunch buffet in Singapore, Kwee Zeen at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa is probably on your radar. Known for its seafood spread, resort ambiance, and premium service, this buffet is often praised as one of the best on the island. But here’s the question: Is it really a must-try?

Honestly—because of the price! (Aminin. Haha) At $108++ per adult (or $172++ for two adults) plus the Sentosa Island Fee of $4, this isn’t your go-to buffet. And yes, I’m a calculative woman! Luckily, we have ALL Accor Plus, which gave us 50% off, making this an absolute steal. With that discount, it was finally time to indulge.

The lobster! That’s the highlight of any buffet for me. Abbey and I developed a seafood allergy, but to clarify, allergies usually show up when seafood isn’t fresh. So yes, we consider ourselves a good meter of seafood freshness. Haha! The verdict? Fresh and delicious! Lobster, oysters, shrimp—we had them all, and no bumps came out.

•Lobster & Oysters – Always available, no waiting for refills (unlike other buffets).

•Frog Legs – A little salty but perfectly cooked.

•Salt-Baked Fish – Flavorful and moist.

•Dumplings and Burrta – A must!

The relaxed resort vibe at Kwee Zeen is definitely off the charts. Special thanks to Ruby, Ma Qing, and Farah for their excellent service—our table stayed clean, finger bowls were refreshed, and sodas were always refilled.

At $108 per adult for the quality, freshness, and top-notch service, I’d say yes, it’s worth it—especially with the ALL Accor Plus 50% discount. If you love seafood and a relaxing Sunday brunch experience, Kwee Zeen at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa is highly recommended.

This $9 Bulalo Shamed Every Overpriced Filipino Restaurant in Singapore

ABBEY: After a refreshing stroll along the scenic Mandai Boardwalk, we decided to reward ourselves with a hearty Filipino meal at Lechon Pinoy in Jem Mall. It took just a couple of minutes to get a table, and trust me—it was absolutely worth the wait!

We indulged in some of our all-time favorites: bulalo (beef marrow soup)pork barbecue, and of course, their signature lechon (roast pork). Each dish brought a taste of home and didn’t disappoint.

The bulalo was rich and flavorful, with tender beef shanks and bone marrow that simply melted off the bone. The pork barbecue had that perfect smoky sweetness, just like the ones sold at street stalls back in the Philippines, and paired beautifully with the tangy “sabaw” (broth) of their sinigang.

And the star of the show? The lechon! With its crispy skin and juicy, tender meat, it was so irresistible that we ended up ordering an extra serving to take home. To top it off, the staff even gave us an additional portion as a bonus- such a thoughtful gesture!

WILL:  Let me be brutally honest—I rarely eat Filipino food in restaurants. Not because I don’t love it (I do!), but because:

1. Abbey cooks it better at home, and

2. Let’s face it—most Pinoy dishes in Singapore are ridiculously overpriced.

So when I crave something like Bulalo, I brace myself for a tiny portion, bland broth, and a hefty bill. But this time, I was pleasantly surprised.

After our nature walk at Mandai Boardwalk, I was craving soup. Bulalo, specifically. Comforting. Savory. Homey.

We headed straight to Lechon Pinoy at JEM, and I immediately saw Bulalo with rice on their menu—SGD 9.25 / pax. Sounds reasonable, but I thought: “Baka puro soup lang talaga to ah, no meat.” So I ordered a few sticks of BBQ as backup.

What came to our table shocked me—in the best way. 😲

✅ Tender, fall-off-the-bone beef

✅ Deep, savory broth

✅ Generous portion (more than enough for me and Abbey!)

This wasn’t the usual “sabaw lang” disaster.

It was comfort in a bowl—legit, sulit na sulit.

And the Pork BBQ? Flavor? On point.

Well-marinated, smoky, sweet—but yes, I do wish the meat were a bit bigger for the price. Still, it was a great combo with the soup.

My Chismosa Moment. Haha. Okay, I eavesdropped a little. A group of Pinoys at the next table were saying. “Mas masarap dito kaysa sa Lucky Plaza ah!”

I know, chismosa ako 😅 but they had a point.

This tasted more authentic, more generous, and honestly—more affordable than what we’ve had in other Filipino restos.

We couldn’t leave without trying their lechon. So we it takeaway. Wink!  And wow—it was another hit. Crispy skin, tender meat, not overly salty. Perfect for a simple feast with a wine at home.

Final Thoughts

✅ Affordable Filipino food

✅ Big portions

✅ Authentic taste

✅ No “daylight robbery” feeling

Lechon Pinoy at JEM surprised us—in the best way. We’ll definitely be back. Maybe next time we’ll check out their Orchard branch.

Tempura Makino Singapore: The Only Tempura We’d Queue For

ABBEY: If you’re a fan of Japanese cuisine, Tamoya Udon & Tempura at Plaza Singapura is a must-visit spot. During our recent visit, we were greeted with a bit of a queue, but thankfully, the wait was short—we were seated within just a few minutes.

I decided to try the Beef & Pork Combo Don, which came topped with a perfectly cooked onsen egg. What stood out right away was the generous portion of meat. Unlike most Japanese rice bowls where the rice often outweighs the meat, Tamoya flips the script. The bowl was filled with tender, savory slices of beef and pork that satisfied both my heart and my hunger.

Another highlight was their Kakiage—a mixed vegetable tempura that came in a sizeable portion. It was impressively light, not too oily, and paired wonderfully with the dipping sauce provided.

One of the great perks here is the free-flow side dishes. We helped ourselves to a variety of options including kelp, corn, and pickled radish, which added a nice balance to the meal.

Tamoya Udon & Tempura delivered a satisfying and flavorful dining experience. Whether you’re craving hearty donburi or crispy tempura, this place is definitely worth a return visit.

Tempura Makino Unagi Set - Japanese Restaurant in Singapore

WILL: I’ve given up on tempura a long time ago. Too often, it’s soggy. Oily. Over-seasoned. A forgettable side dish.

But one night in Singapore, that changed.

My husband was craving Japanese food, and we noticed a long queue outside Tempura Makino. I wasn’t expecting much—but curiosity won.

I ordered the Unagi Tempura Set (SGD 23.90). And from the first bite, I paused.

Crispy. Light. Clean.
Not greasy. Not salty. Just right. The kind of crunch that makes you slow down and savour.

This tempura wasn’t a sidekick. It was the main event.

The portion was generous—no need for dessert. You could taste the quality of the ingredients, and there’s a clear skill behind how each item was fried. No shortcuts.

Now, I understand the queue. It’s not just hype. It’s a return-worthy kind of place.

If you’ve been disappointed by tempura before, let Tempura Makino change your mind. Because yes—it’s that good!

Have you tried a tempura that surprised you? Let me know—I might check it out next.

Bingz in Singapore: Crispy Burger & Wontons You’ll Drool Over!

ABBEY: If you love discovering new and exciting food, you have to try Bingz, a Chinese restaurant that’s bringing a unique twist to the burger scene. Unlike your typical soft buns, Bingz serves up crispy, flaky buns that are packed with flavorful fillings like pork, beef, and chicken.

But the crispy burgers are just the beginning! Their menu also feature noodles, wontons, crispy fries, and refreshing drinks. My personal favorites? The Signature Pork Burger, which delivers a delicious blend of natural spices without being overwhelming, and the Wontons with Chili Oil—not too spicy, but with just the right touch of numbing heat.

Oh, and here’s a bonus: their drinks are refillable! So, if you’re craving something crispy, savory, and satisfying, head over to Bingz and treat yourself to this one-of-a-kind burger experience.

Bingz in Singapore: Crispy Burger & Wontons You’ll Drool Over!

WILL: Is Bingz an abomination of the classic burger? Or is it just a brilliant twist inspired by culture, taste, and market cravings? Honestly — who sets the rules when food crossovers hit the sweet (and savoury) spot?

Lately, I’ve noticed a crispy burger trend popping up around Singapore, and guess what? Bingz stands out as my top pick! I’ve tried a few versions here and there, but nothing hits quite like Bingz’s crispy Chinese-style burger. The texture, the flavour — it just works. Haha!
Oh, and don’t get me started on their Wontons in Chili Oil. They’re spicy, flavourful, and that signature mala kick? It’s addictive! Yes, I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Is it obvious that Bingz is my current obsession? You might’ve even seen us dining at their outlets in Nex or Jewel Changi — yup, that was probably me, blissfully munching away.
So, are you curious enough to give Bingz a try? Let me know what you think — maybe we’ll bump into each other next time!

Price Starts: SGD3.50

Romantic Sentosa Restaurant - Wildseed Café at 1-Flowerhill with KKDay Deal

ABBEY: Hearts’ Day is here again, and what better way to celebrate love than with a memorable dining experience? This year, we reserved a table at Wildseed 1-Flowerhill in Sentosa.

After arriving at Imbiah Station, we took a short walk up to this charming colonial house, where the restaurant is located. The place was already bustling with couples and groups, all eager to celebrate the occasion. Once our reservation was confirmed, we were guided to our table, setting the stage for a delightful evening.

For dinner, we indulged in three standout dishes:

Garden Pesto Pasta – Cooked to a perfect al dente, the pasta was coated in a velvety, cheesy pesto sauce. Unexpectedly, it came with what I believe were French beans, adding a refreshing crunch alongside the traditional pine nuts.

Truffle Brie Pizza – A massive pizza generously topped with oyster mushrooms and creamy brie. While I forgot to try it with hot sauce, the rich truffle aroma and gooey cheese made it a delicious experience on its own.

Barbecue Iberico Pork Ribs – The true highlight of the night! These ribs were beautifully caramelized, offering a perfect balance of sweetness, smokiness, and a melt-in-your-mouth meat-to-fat ratio.

Our meal was complemented by a glass of red wine, enhancing the flavors of each dish. As we dined, a live band serenaded guests, adding to the romantic ambiance. Between bites and sips, we caught up on the day’s happenings, making the evening even more special.
