Is AirSWIFT Worth It? Honest Review Flying to El Nido, Palawan

ABBEY:  We chose to book a direct flight to El Nido instead of spending five hours in a van from Puerto Princesa. It saved us a lot of time, and honestly, I’m not sure my body could still handle that long of a land trip.

For this route, AirSWIFT is the airline to look for. They use small turboprop aircraft; yes, the ones with propellers. And you’ll be brought from the airport gate to the plane by bus. Our El Nido-bound flight was a bit windy during landing, so the sway of the plane was noticeable. The flight back to Manila felt completely different. It was smooth, but it also signaled the end of our Palawan getaway.

The entire journey is short. Before you know it, the one-and-a-half-hour flight is over and you’re stepping onto what many call “paradise.”

WILL: Planning a trip to El Nido, Palawan? One of the biggest decisions you’ll make is how to get there.

Should you:

1.Fly to Puerto Princesa and endure a 5–6 hour van ride, or

2.Take AirSWIFT’s direct flight from Manila to El Nido (Lio Airport)?

We chose the second option—and here’s why.

Should You Book AirSWIFT for El Nido?

Yes, if you value time, comfort, and sanity

💰Cost: ₱6,000–₱8,000 one-way

Time saved: ~6 hours

✈ Best for: Short trips, peak season, motion-sickness-prone tourists

Total Cost

Travel Time

Manila → El Nido (AirSWIFT)

₱6,000–₱8,000

~1 hr 15 min

Manila → Puerto Princesa + Van

₱3,500–₱4,000

6–7 hours

Saving around Php10,000 (2-way) means sacrificing 12+hours of your vacation. For us, the convenience alone made AirSWIFT worth every peso.

AirSWIFT operates out of NAIA Terminal 2 (Domestic).

The staff were professional and efficient—check-in took only 10 minutes. Bilis!!

That said, we still recommend arriving at least 90 minutes early.

⚠️ Do not follow us—we arrived 3 hours early and there’s no lounge to stay in. Lesson learned 😅

AirSWIFT is now under Cebu Pacific, so yes… strict baggage rules apply (alam nyo naman si CebuPac haha!).

•Carry-on: 7kg (strictly enforced)

•Checked baggage: 20kg included

•Overweight fees: Check with Cebu Pacific customer service

The aircraft overhead bins are very small, so even standard rolling carry-ons may end up being checked in.

Legroom was surprisingly reasonable—Abbey is almost 6’ and was comfortable throughout the flight.

The plane was clean and well-maintained.

Do not assume that buying a check-in luggage will include a free meal. 😅

Our seats were on the left side of the aircraft, and we still witnessed incredible views of Palawan’s turquoise waters during descent into El Nido.

Arrival at Lio Airport, El Nido (The Best Part)

Lio Airport is tiny, and honestly—that’s a huge win.

•Baggage claim: 10–15 minutes

•No crowds or long lines

•Transportation waiting outside

•Tricycle to El Nido town: ₱300–₱500 (15 minutes)

•Vans available via hotel private transfersSuper smooth and stress-free.

The return process was just as easy:

•Minimal security lines

•Quick boarding

•Arrived 75 minutes before departure with no issues

Yes, AirSWIFT is worth it if your trip is short and your time matters.

If you’re on a tight budget, flying via Puerto Princesa is fine—just be ready for a long ride.

SBCD Korean Rice House Suntec Review: The Affordable Korean Meal That Surprised Me

ABBEY: I’ve always been curious about SBCD Korean Tofu House at Suntec City. Every time I pass by, it’s packed with diners no matter the hour, which made me wonder what keeps people coming back. So one evening, I finally gave in and went there for dinner.

I ordered the Pork Bulgogi, and it instantly hit the spot—it’s that familiar Korean flavor I’ve been craving. Instead of rice, I went for spicy noodles, and I’m glad I did. The dish came with tender pork, kimchi, tofu, egg, and pork dumpling, all mixed together in a bowl. It reminded me of those Korean 2x spicy noodles, but with a hearty twist.

The noodles were perfectly al dente, and every component complemented the others beautifully. With teary eyes from the spice yet a happy heart, I finished every bite. It was satisfying, comforting, and full of flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back for more.

WILL: Ever find yourself wondering what to eat or where to eat? Abbey and I don’t usually eat out often, yet even we sometimes face this dilemma. Imagine those who rarely cook at home! Well, this Korean spot at Suntec City left quite an impression on me.

For less than SGD 15, the Pork Bulgogi Rice set comes with perfectly spiced sticky rice and a refreshing yogurt drink—simple, affordable, yet surprisingly fulfilling. Unlike some restaurants that overload dishes with spice to appear “authentic,” here the flavors are thoughtfully composed. I left the stall with a full stomach and a sense of calm, amazed at how a meal can bring such quiet satisfaction.

A quick tip: dinner time is always busy, so plan to arrive early. But trust me, it’s worth it.

Would you like to try this hidden gem at Suntec City?

$1.90 Bowls?! Kuan Zhai Wan Wan Xiang at Changi City Point — Cheapest Comfort Food You’ll Ever Find!

ABBEY: While exploring Changi City Point, we stumbled upon a Chinese eatery called Kuan Zhai Wan Wan Xiang. And it was quite an unexpected find.

The place operates in a simple, canteen-style setup, somewhat like IKEA’s self-service food hall. You grab a tray, queue up, and choose from a variety of small dishes neatly displayed in mini bowls. It’s quick, casual, and perfect if you love trying a bit of everything.

We picked a few favorites: braised pork with preserved vegetables, mapo tofu, xiao long bao, and shredded chicken noodles. Each order comes with free-flow rice or porridge, which is definitely a plus if you love generous portions.

The mapo tofu stood out for me. It had that authentic Sichuan-style balance of spice and numbing heat from the peppercorns. I actually went for three bowls of rice just to go with it! The braised pork was another highlight, tender and flavorful with just the right amount of savory sweetness.

If there’s one thing I’d suggest, it’s to turn up the steam a little; some of the dishes could be warmer. But overall, it’s a satisfying and affordable meal, with prices ranging from SGD 1.90 to SGD 5.90 per item.

Kuan Zhai Wan Wan Xiang is a great spot if you’re in the East of Singapore and craving authentic, comforting Chinese food without breaking the bank.

$1.90 Bowls at Kuan Zhai Wan Wan Xiang – Changi City Point’s Most Affordable Comfort Food!

WILL: What made me walk straight into this restaurant? The elevated hawker vibe, the super clean and inviting look, and—honestly—the screaming amount of food on display. Bowls starting at SGD1.90 and unlimited porridge or rice for SGD1? That alone made me grab a tray!

Self-serve style pa! It brought back full-on secondary school canteen memories, but with way better food.

My Must-Try Picks
-Mapo Tofu (SGD2.90)
The mala sauce is insane. I could finish one whole cup of rice with just the sauce. Sobrang sarap. No regrets!

-Pork with Preserved Vegetable (SGD3.90)
Huge portion—good for sharing. The pork is tender and super worth its price.

Not My Fave
Pork Xiao Long Bao — dry, so skip this one.

If you love rice (like… A LOT), carbs, and comforting Chinese flavors, you’ll walk out of here smiling and food-happy. Perfect for our protein + carb loading days in The Gentle Reset too.

Go try it! You might end up running to Changi City Point like me.
