Bak Kwa

ABBEY:
I tasted the BBQ meat during my first year in Singapore. It was given to me by Ate Loide. It tasted great though the one I got is spicy.

Wilma's employer gave a half kilo of bak kwa to all the staff for Chinese New Year celebration. This time it is sweet.
Cooking is easy; fry or use microwave, cut into smaller pieces then serve on top of rice.

WILL:
Thanks Boss! Its Chinese new year and all goodies and red packets were all over. Hehe.

Bak kwa is in Chinese tradition. Every year they gave their close people this meat to linger on. This is Singapore's staple food every Chinese new year!
So, thank you Boss for the Bak kwa, so goood! Huat Ah!

Frozen Planet

ABBEY:
This BBC documentary is an eye-opener for the people to appreciate nature's beauty of both pole regions.

It tackles the seasons and how the animals and people adapt to it.
Every animal, like whales, penguins, seals, and birds showed different ways to live and how to survive. Polar bears, winter wolves, and oxen were featured as well.

It also shows the effect of global warming on the continents and its a very serious matter. We need to do our part to save our last frontier.

At the end of each episode the documentary show the scenes behind the camera.

Its a big challenge for the crew and staff to wait for the perfect moment to catch the action in temperature and weather that can put them to death instantly.

A big salutations for them. David Attenborough gave a good story as he does the narration.

WILL: I am so foolish that I all I know at the north and south pole were covered by ice all year round. Damn! Tangang-tanga lang ako. Wahaha.
I think all creatures here were all so cute, even the wolves and the prawns and jellyfish.
Very alarming to know that the ice now at Antarctic and Arctic ate now melting so fast. Fast enough that the scientist assumes that we can see a mass of land instead of snow here in 2020. Shocks that's only eight years from now.
I think now there is no prevention for this problem. This two continents holds a lot of resources that's why there many countries wants to have this to be their own.
I don't know but i big part of me loves nature and to come this to my knowledge saddens me. Thanks BBC for this kind of exposition and exploration. I hope we can lessen the greenhouse effect and live a happier, greener life.

Singapore Airshow 2012

ABBEY: We got the ticket weeks before the event; 20sgd per person including 2-way shuttle service. The exhibition was conducted at Changi Exhibition Centre. We arrived at the venue 9:30 am, had our seat at the grandstand and wait for the 11am  air display. The participating countries were America, Malaysia, and of course the host, Singapore.

It was a great show; a first time for me. Sound of sonic boom sends chills on me. Applause were heard for every maneuver especially for the complex ones. A number of planes were also in static display including Singapore Airlines' Boeing 747. It is to retire and they conducted free guided tour. We didn't got the chance to see it as all time slots were fully booked. Instead we got giveaways like postcards, card sticker and fan. A couple of snaps on the exhibit and then we headed home.

WILL: As the day approaches us, we are getting more and more excited but a bit weary for the weather that we will face during the AirShow. We rather sun bathe than all soaked up due to rain.

Lucky, not that much rays from the sun that beautiful Sunday morning. We arrived at Changi Terminal 3 around 9am and went our way to board on the free shuttle bus for every ticket availed.

The Airshow start 11am and lasts not more than an hour. Here we saw how the mechanical birds flew across the sky. Shocks, why I don't realize on my childhood days to be a pilot? Hmmm?.. Well, I wish one of my nephew will be one of those people commanding a plane.

We saw also some of the private planes. There are some people who are really rich affording those stuffs. Hehe. So that's all for now. See you Singapore Air Show again on 2014 of February.
