Lemuel Chocolate | Bean To Bar | Singapore

ABBEY: I always crave for hot chocolate for Christmas. Maybe it is with the season or with the ample supply of that brown nectar during that time. Good thing Lemuel (Bean-to-bar chcocolate maker) is there to satisfy my craving. The drink is not too sweet. It is thick and really chocolatey. It is like a cup of hugs that gives warmth to you. They also sell chocolate bars as well as bon bons, and brownies. Definitely, a return trip will be happening.

WILL: Every cold weather hits up, which can be felt during December - February in Sinagpore, Abbey is longing for a cup of hot chocolate. 2020 we went to check Angelina at Marina Bay Sands and on 2021 we went to one of the local chocolatier. Lemuel Chocolate … of course support local! Lemuel Chocolate’s Bean to Bar concept is located at The Star Vista just beside Buona Vista MRT Station. In their open kitchen store you can peak how the chocolate were processed from bean to your sweet lovely chocolate! Their cafe has this chic and pure feel. You can surely have an intimate/private talk there. So how’s the hot chocolate? It is velvety texture, not to sweet and the warmness will embrace you in that cold day. Haha. Truly, Lemuel Chocolate’s were MADE WITH PASSION! You can book a tour too in their factory.

Overrice - The HALAL GUYS version of SINGAPORE

ABBEY: The Overrice offers meals over rice. Whoah! You don’t say. Hahaha. I had their pulled beef signature bowl. It came with pita, shredded lettuce, and basmati rice. Each bowl can be drizzled by their secret white sauce and you can dab the fiery red sauce. And when I say dab, try it little by little. It is hot. Takes sometime to get used to it. Overall the Overrice beef bowl taste good. The ingredients and sauces really complement each other. They also have their version of Magnolia Banana pudding.

WILL: We got curious with New Yorks Halal Guys’ Iconic White Sauce and Impressive Hot Sauce when we stumbled on one of their interviews in YouTube. That curiosity grew to a question where we can get hold of that chili sauce in Singapore?

Abbey found a place that declares to be Singapore’s version of Halal Guys by its patron. Overrice. Overrice is located at Arab Street and perfect place to dine after our pedicure session at The Nail Social.

Their place have this “easy-going-young” vibe and the people behind the counter is pretty warm and accommodating. I ordered Falafel Signature Bowl ($12.40). The falafel is not dry and not crumbly. Their basmati rice complements well with their creamy white sauce and a dab of spiciest chili I ever had here in Singapore. (That was the first time that I didn’t ate all the chili served to me… haha)

Anyways, we were so happy on what we have tasted and decided that Overrice will be our dinner on 24th December! We will surely come back for more on our next visit in Bugis area.

Koma Singapore | Modern Japanese Restaurant at Marina Bay Singapore

ABBEY: Yey! We got a reservation at Koma. The booking have a long list. You need to reserve your table two months ahead. We went there on Christmas Day. Entering the restaurant and walking to your table will transport you a place in Japan. There are tori gates as well as large bell. You will not remember you’re inside a mall. The ambiance got a homey and quiet feel.

We tried their California maki and I got barbecued beef short ribs for main. The beef is tender and the sauce is not that sweet. Perfect to be folded inside lettuce.

Recommended to be tried but I’m not that much of a fan.

WILL: Booking Koma is pretty tedious task for me. I ended up to be on a waiting list… TWICE! Huhu! I marked my calendar and on the first hour they opened the reservation for 25th December, I straight away get the 1130am lunch.

When we saw the their festive menu, without second thoughts we chose to have an ala carte meal instead. I ordered, Spicy Tofu Hot Pot.

I am a sucker for spicy food last December. Well, blame it to my hormones. Haha. Taste? Not bad but quite more than okay. It supplied a dose of spice for my day! Haha! It actually can serve for 2pax. California Maki is just normal but their wasabi is outstanding.

Beside the food, people are queuing for Koma at MBS to somewhat feel the ambiance of Japan. Guests will be welcomed by orange arches, a reminiscent of the Fushimi Inari Shrine. The huge dining room complements the 2.5m tall “FACE Japanese bell", which presides above a traditional Japanese foot bridge.

Well who can beat that? Haha.
