Reflections at Bukit Chandu - World War II Interpretative Centre

ABBEY: At last Reflections at Bukit Chandu reopens after a three-year upgrade. If you’re into hike this is a good one. Bukit Chandu or Opium Hill was once a plant that packed and distributed opium. But this hill tells a rich story of heroism during Japanese invasion of Singapore.

The heroes? Malay Regiment who fought valiantly led by Lt. Adnan. It showcases how the regiment was formed and how little time the soldiers have for training when the war called them to service. They were against fearsome invaders backed up with more weapons (both air and land) but the Malay soldiers was not deterred and kept on fighting. And the rest is history.

The patriotism they showed is truly admirable.

WILL: This is one of the museums that I really wanted to visit. Unlike other museums that is located in CBD area, Bukit Chandu is located in what else, on a top of a hill (Bukit - Malay word for hill).

You can trek up for 15mins or via car to reach the newly renovated museum. So what to expect? This is the not so famous stories of Malay soldiers who battled with Japanese troops to defend Singapore.

First floor showcases how the battalion was formed and trained how they gave their lives with honor. Second floor have this machines and procedures for opium packing. If you are history buffs, you will surely enjoy spending an hour or more in this building.

Bioskin Singapore Facial Promotion | Is it a Ripped-Off?

ABBEY: Skin is the largest organ of our body. And we need to take care of that, specially our face. Make our body beautiful inside and out. We bought Bioskin package for 3 sessions each. It includes facial as well as massage. I’m new to the non-extraction procedure. This means no pricking but somehow you will feel your face clean.

Lots of cleaning, lotion and cream. But I really liked bojin facial treatment. It is the massage for your face. Just like with other type of body massages, it will loosen up your muscles to make blood circulation better. It is a bit painful but relaxing and rejuvenating. I think that is the treatment I’ll come back to Bioskin for.

Bioskin Singapore Facial Promotion | Is it a Ripped-Off?

WILL: I got to know Bioskin facial through fave promotional deals. For only $26.75 I got to try their 1-Hour Skin Purifying Treatment in their newly opened branch at Midtown.

Prescilla explains and really a persuasive salesperson so I got to buy a total of 6 sessions (3-each for me and Abbey) worth $856.
Treatments:
1. Plasma
2. Dembrasion
3. Bojin Detox
Top-up for each facial:
1. Ampoule
2. Eye Treatment
3. Scalp and Shoulder Massage

How’s was it? Well, to tell you frankly, we just tried if our face will truely be clear with their non-extraction procedure. Well, maybe those kind of treatments are not for us because I still feel that my face specially the mask-covered area is still quite full of whiteheads/deadskin even after the treatment. The only remarkable is their Bojin Detox. You will totally feel the relief after the session.

Will I come back? Yes, but only for Bojin.

Bacha Coffee Official Boutique - Moroccan CAFE in SINGAPORE | Legendary Coffees Review

ABBEY: We were supposed to try Bacha Coffee (in Ion Orchard) Christmas 2020 but oh boy the queue is so long.

The next time we went, we got time to spare so queue it is.
The shop is Morrocan-inspired and you can see that in the all around like in coffee kettles, spoon, fork, knife, cup and saucers and decors. Felt like a royal sipping their hot drinks.

The coffee by itself has great flavor. Put a dollop or two of the vanilla bean cream and it will elevate to a new level. Add raw sugar or ground vanilla and you’ll be surprised. We also had their croissants. They are flaky outside and puffed inside. Perfect match for the coffee.

WILL: Cafe business here is Singapore is pretty vibrant! Cafes with different tricks to lure customers. The good thing is they have a levelled price point so you can dare to try them all.

Bacha is an international cafe from Morocco ans was established in 1910. In their store you will see the fascinating story behind the brand.

The difference? You will feel like a royalty! Why? Except of the staff’s uniform and royal blue/gold paint their service is exceptional. Staffs are so attentive and really do concern if you need anything.

Truly recommendable! Oh their coffee! Ahaha! It was served per golden pot and you can definitely taste the richness and body of the coffee. Yep! Not diluted by milk or water. Their coffee honey dip for croissants is not to be missed.
