ABBEY: Since I love coffee my wife gave me 3 packs of coffee from Dutch Colony for my 10th year in Singapore. I got the ones from Brazil, Columbia and Sumatra. All of them went well on the cold brew process. 

The ones from Brazil and Columbia gave sour fruity taste when I made them in a moka pot, but the Sumatra just tasted the same hot or cold. And I really like it. Adding cream to them gave more texture to my coffees. I wonder what flavors my wife give me next. Thanks Dutch Colony.

WILL: Abbey is fond of doing his own cold brew coffee. We tried a few beans from IKEA and grocery stalls. As a gift for his 10th year in Singapore, I gave him an artisan ground coffee from Dutch Colony. 

With the help of one of the World Barista Championship Certified Judge - Suhaimi of Dutch Colony, he advised some suggestions. For variety, I bought Finca San Pascual, Gayo Mandheling and Fazenda Rio Claro. You will definitely be surprised that those three  have distinctive flavour of their own. My favourite is Sumatra's Gayo Mandheling. You gonna live this too if you love the taste of cocoa.

2 Day Water Fast and Why We Stopped It Immediately

ABBEY:

WILL: We always do a 24-hour fast. This round I initiated the 2-day fasting to Abbey. 

Fasting is not only good for your body for you to lose weight, balance the sugar and salt and to restart your system but fasting is spiritually good too! In the Bible, every person who has a great request or want to know a divine answer to their queries did fasting with distinctive prayer. 

Since my system is used to a 24-hour fasting, I didn’t feel any dizziness nor weakening of my body when I up out of bed at 9am. I even asked Abbey if we can hit the gym  on 12noon of 21st September. 

3pm my body shut down to a snooze and I woke up soaked on my sweat. That was 6pm. My body is shaking and for the third time in my fasting experience I felt a numbing and tingling sensation on my whole body. And of course, I know what’s next! My body will secrete a green fluid by vomit. 

Last time I had this two incidents and few minutes away in completing the fast, after puking I will feel relieved and in-tuned again. But this time, after secreting the bitter taste green liquid and a very cold sweat, pass half an hour my hands starts to shake, my heart beats frantically and my stomach churning to spew up again! 

I looked to Abbey and asked if I can stop. I am afraid that if I continued the fasting, a serious problem will arise. Abbey agreed for us to stop at our 32nd hour. 

At this moment, I failed in this fasting. I felt sad. My prayer now is for THE ALMIGHTY to forgive me in not completing my fast. 

I am sure to try again sometime. I will sure do it again victoriously! 

Gram Cafe & Pancakes Singapore – Famous Jiggly Souffle From Osaka Japan

ABBEY: We queued a couple of times at Gram Pancake and on our third try we were in. There are only 30 soufflé pancakes at each time slots. A serving of three 4-cm pancake on top of each other costs SGD 17.90. That doesn’t include any drink and every person that will enter the restaurant should have an item to order (speaking of profit per customer. Haha).

They are wobbly (or jiggly) and fluffy but nothing special about the taste. The smell is like the fancy streetfood-pancake we had in Philippines. Maybe its with the water they use for steaming the pancakes. (Recycled?) 

Also in my observation, the staffs seem to give that “take photos for IG, finish your food fast, and leave” vibes. They might just want to serve all the customers who want to get in. No warmth or welcoming feel except for that one staff or maybe she’s the manager. Not going there for second time :)

Premium Pancakes

WILL: A new craze sprouted at VivoCity. It is the Gram Pancakes from Japan. 

Do you know that they have a limited number of serving? Do you know that you need to queue for almost 40mins? Do you know that you can’t order a drink or another item from menu aside of thei pancakes? Do you know that thei pancakes cost a $17.90? Now you know! Haha! 

After waiting for another 15mins at the table, the pancakes were served. Indeed, it is jiggly and yummy for the eyes. BUT! It emits a stench. Arrggh. I do not know why but it reminds me of a smell of dirty hot towel. Argghhh... There nothing unusual of the taste. But the texture is creamy and spongy as I expected. 

The young man who is taking the orders outside the store seems so arrogant and surprisingly they told our next table that they can’t stay if they already finished their food. Whoah! 

Instagrammable but not worth the HYPE, TIME and MONEY.
