The Wedding Dress: 200 Years of Wedding Fashion from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London

ABBEY:  The gallery entrance is worth 12sgd but it was an open house during the Night Festival. The gallery is located at basement 1 of National Museum. It features wedding dresses used years ago and how they evolve throughout the time.

It showcases also the gowns wore by Avril Lavigne and Sarah Jessica Parker (on her wedding day in Sex and the City).

WILL: The Wedding Dress Exhibition runs until 31st of October. We are so lucky to this gallery of wedding gowns fro free. That was because the National Museum of Singapore held an Open House last Night Festival.
Here we saw many designs from different countries, from different culture with different climates and famous dressed from blockbuster Holly wood movie. There also a video that shows the royal weddings. They also have giving some guided tour for free from English, Mandarin and Japanese.
When you are planning walking in the aisle in the near future, this exhibit will help you to design your own wedding gown.

POMPEII

ABBEY:
This gallery exhibits the remains of the Pompeii after Mt. Vesuvius' eruption. The town is located on a basin- shaped landscape, so it collected all the ashes, lava and fury of the volcano. Only hours when the town was totally buried on debris. Artifacts like earthenware, coins, grind mills and frescoes were displayed. An eye-witness account were also documented. It showed fear and loss of hope for the people during the tragedy. Its a hard lesson to learn and also an eye-opener for us living now.

WILL: Saw the advert at the MRT station and Abbey told me that he wants to see it. I am bit hesitant due the price is quite high, SGD12.00. But when the National Museum announces its free entrance to all its exhibit, of course, we do not have second thoughts to see Pompeii.
At the gate, you can feel a chill, you can see the casts of people and animals died in the volcanic eruption. The exhibit also portrays the abundance of this place.
There is also a 3D movie that shows how the eruption and how this civilization ends. And after the tour in this exhibit, I have a one question in mind. What are the sins committed of Pompeii people that cause God to end their lives.

National Museum of Singapore

ABBEY: Honestly, I didn't manage to visit Phil natl museum. Good thing I found time last christmas to visit singapore's. Its an open-house, meaning u can visit all the galleries free of charge. We went for the purple line and alight at douby ghaut, where we rode the circle line. After alighting at bras basah, we walked for about 300m until we reached the museum. We entered the history of singapore gallery. We were given each a Companion, an electronic narrator that guides you on your way to the gallery. We've seen paintings, artifacts, replicas and other historic icons on the gallery. We also take a look at the food gallery and presidential gifts galllery which exhibits the gifts from other foreign leaders.

WILL: It was December 25 and the Museum opens its door to all the people of here in Singapore, free of charge. Who we are to deny the invitation, hehehe. We alight at Bras Basah station of Yellow Line MRT.
A fine day of Saturday we went there to see the History, the food, presents to their presidents and even the Pompeii, exhibit.
Unlike other museum, here, taking pictures is allowed, but without flash. I really enjoyed the Singapore History Gallery. Entrance for this is SGD10. We have the "companion" a gadget provided by Sennheiser. It will be your personal guide.
      Thank you National Heritage Board.
