Newly Renovated Newton Food Centre Hawker Stalls To Check Out in Singapore

ABBEY: My cousin wants to go where the “Crazy Rich Asians” actors filmed in Singapore. One of them is at Newton Food Centre.

So we ordered chili crab, char kway teow and Hokkien Mee. We finished all the chili crab sauce with fluffy fried man tou. The noodles are firm and flavorful with wok hei and lard. They are all washed down with sugar cane juice. Talk about local. Haha.

WILL: This hawker stall gained additional fame thanks to an appearance in the movie Crazy Rich Asians. Some stalls here have been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand, and that's exactly where we decided to treat our American visitor.

Naturally, we ordered plates of Hokkien Mee and Fried Kway Teow at Newton Old Signboard 25 (#01-25), one of the renowned stalls in the Newton hawker center. And the taste? Exceptional! The chili sauce elevated the flavor of everything - simply delicious!

We couldn't allow Abbey's cousin to leave Singapore without savoring the famous Chili Crab from Alliance Seafood, another Michelin-approved stall in the Newton Hawker Center. The taste? The crab meat practically melted into the sauce, making it unnecessary to crack the shells. Freshly fried mantou buns were the perfect accompaniment to this delectable meal.

Our tummies left highly satisfied. Is this hawker a must-visit? Absolutely! It's another gem to explore, well worth a visit alongside the popular options in Chinatown.

The Cafe Lobby

ABBEY: I just used to pass-by this cafe whenever I go to office at Harbourfront. The queue is always a long one. They offer breakfast and merienda like nasi lemak, bee-hon. Hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, juice are sold here. We got a chance to dine in here at their Sengkang branch. It is where I buy Wilma's sugarcane juice.

WILL: Here Abbey bought my fave drink, the sugarcane juice. This is very accessible to all Sengkang commuters.
Food and drinks price are reasonable and yet they do not compromise the taste, no doubt that this store is always packed up!

The Gallerie - Marina Square

ABBEY: This foodcourt is located at upper floor of Marina Square. Just like any food courts, it serves Japanese, Korean, Western, Turkish and other cuisines. Each stall has the same theme but different objects were hung; lamps, fans, lunchboxes, pans,

WILL:  This is a perfect spot to dine while your eyes is being crazy for the architectural designs of Marina Bay Sands and Esplanade. This is located at 4th Floor of Marina Square. You can go here by alighting at Esplanade MRT Station.
Well ventilated and very artistic design foodcourt. Here you can choose from food of Singapore's neighboring countries. Here I tried the Noodee Box.

Kaya Toast - Lau Pa Sat

ABBEY:
Actually, hindi ito yung dapat namin na kakainan. I came from night-shift. So we decided to buy a set of kaya toast including na yung 2 coffees at 2 half-cooked eggs. At ang presyo? 2.50SGD. Ayos na :) Masarap ang lasa lalo na pag-sinasawsaw sa itlog. Tapos yung coffee ibang klase ang pagka-brew. Iba sa natitikman ko sa ibang coffee shop. It's a good thing na after ng night shift, meron kang makakain na ganito sa almusal. Kaya after namin dun, tulog talaga ako sa MRT. Thanks for the treat Wil.

WILL: Fond of Kaya Toast and half cooked egg. The best of this kind of food in Manila is the Kopi Roti. Pero di type ni Abbey yun when we dated sa branch nila sa The Columns.
I don't know why I like this. I am not into egg whites kasi I am more than of yolk. Hehe, kaya imagine ang plate nmin ni Abbey pag may sunny side-up kami ni egg.
Sa Lau Pa Sat, iba ang timpla ng coffee, brewed in different way. Then the toast is crunchy. Then the eggs adding some sault and is nice then dip in the bread. Really good.
We tried other hawker's kaya toast but no one came near to Lau Pa Sat's taste. :)
