This is the new and funny-looking chips we got from the supermarket. Each chip resembles an inflated closed-net. And they are on the expensive side of the spectrum (2 bags for 9.55SGD). We tried Sea Salt and White Cheddar flavors; both taste good and not too overpowering. You can finish in one sitting with soda on the side.

Lay’s Deep Ridged

Lay’s chips come up with their version of ridges. And they went “deep”. The chip look like they have valleys on them. I wish they can have a plain one so I can partner it with any dip. But they do have flaming spicy and hot wings flavors. A nice way to breakout of the ordinary.

WILL: Chips are part of our life so Abbey and I is always ready to try new stacks of it on the shelves. Lately, Lay’s Maxx Ridged and Poppables are on the racks of ShengShiong. Woootwooo! 

Maxx Ridged has a deep ridges that harnessed the flavour. It is thick that has a thin separation from tough to bite and crispiness. Flavours are deeply incorporated and intact. Not so many crumbles unlike other chips. Of course, Flaming Spicy is my flavour. 

Poppables has this holes that gives an airy and light feeling. It is crispy and packed with it’s flavour. The not so good thing is, because it is feels light, you will end up muching for more. Haha! My fave flavour is Sea Salt!

ABBEY: This magnificent structure really made me wish that I could stay there one day. And here we are, we got a room for a night at The Fullerton Hotel to celebrate my 10th year living in Singapore. And as a member of I Prefer we got a room upgrade (Postmaster room - city view), bathtub, early check in, late check out and a cocktail. Our hotel stay comes also with buffet breakfast. Even our request for hypoallergenic pillows were granted. Since it’s a celebration the hotel decorated our room with balloons and flowers as well as a slice of decadent chocolate cake.

To maximize the comfort of the bed, we tired ourselves as we learned Singapore maritime history thru a free guided tour. Our tour guide Bill gave us some insights about the beginnings of Singapore trade and its plans for the future. Each participant received a food coupon for a drink and cake on the next visit to the hotel.

Back to our room we found ourselves in the bathtub and once relaxed onto slumber land. I look forward for breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. There is a mountain of pork bacon and I got a couple of plates of that. There’s also pork siopao, sausages, omelettes, congee and even sashimi. You can have Western coffee or local one. It was a good breaking of the fast. Hahaha. I also got the chance to dip on their infinity pool and just savour the calmness of the morning. Kudos to the staff specially to Mira and Claudia.

This is one of the hotel that we dream to have a staycation. And due to iPrefer (free membership), we found a great booking rate and many perks come along with it. 

To celebrate Abbey’s 10th year with a bang! I communicated with The Fullerton Hotel Guest Recognition Team and from there we planned how to surprise my husband. They are very lovely and helpful. I was about to deliver one day before the balloons and flowers to decorate the room but due to my busy schedule, I ended up buying chocolates and coffee. Haha! Guest Recognition promised me that they will put it on the table and will add up a complimentary cake. I am totally thankful for their kindness. 

Abbey arrived in the The Fullerton Hotel first (I am on a half day leave only, Haha) and he was shocked by a news that our room was upgraded to Postmaster Room (bathtub, bidet toilet seats) and he was allowed for an early check-in. He went out to drop-by to our office for us to get a lunch. And then the magic begins. 

When we were back to the hotel room, Abbey squealed when he saw that the room was transformed. Well, I am surprised too! All I know is that Fullerton will only give a complimentary cake but they add the things that I can’t provide! Balloon and fresh orchids! Oh darling! Oh my! They gave 2 free voucher of Merlion Cocktail! The special rate for a iPrefer member (free) includes a buffet breakfast that offers of local delicacies and international food! Yeahbah! 

The Postmaster is huge with 3 parts: 

The entryway — a huge cabinet will welcome you and there’s a seat that you can use to wear or take off your shoes. 

The bathroom — they have this separate shower and toilet. And an amazing bathtub! 

The bedroom — The comfort of the huge and soft bed with a warm quilt. Oh we have chosen to have an hypoallergenic pillow! For sure this gives an extra calmness to our sleep.

We booked to attend the Maritime Journey Tour and we were directed to go to Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore. In there, we went to the past and know the history of the old ports, customs house and the way how the The Fullerton Bay Hotel designed and built! It is a wonderful time to spent your afternoon in Singapore. And hey! It is FREE!

BIZEN Okayama Wagyu Steakhouse - Astons

ABBEY: We were in Funan checking what’s new with the place and also explored what are the dining options the mall has to offer. We went to Bizen for dinner. The queue is beginning to get long even though it has many empty tables. The “culprits” are the cashier and the customers. Before you can seat the cashier will take your order and you will pay. And since the menu is new, he has to explain the items and the customer will take time to decide what he wants. Maybe there can be a better way to address this.

Anyways I got chicken teriyaki with rice and macaroni bacon and cheese for sides for 10.90 SGD. The meat is moist and the sauce is sweet and have a burnt taste just like char. The restaurant is beside the wall climbing so you can enjoy your food while watching the climbers “suffer and get exhausted “. Haha. The table have flowing water that falls at the end which gives you that waterfalls sound and makes you relax.

WILL: After meetup with our friends and waxing session at Spa D’or, we decided to take a dinner at the newly renovated Funan Mall. We were amazed that it has changed. From boring mall to a very playful-glittery place. There are many food outlets to choose from and we went direct for Bizen. 

Bizen is one of Astons’ conglomerate. The queue is not that long, uniquely before you will get a seat, you need to order and buy upfront. 

I went for Kurobuta Pork Katsu. The pork slice is thick. What? Yeah! It is like fillet mignon thick. And it is juicy. The meat doesn’t have a fibre that will stuck in between your teeth. This is a good piece of pork! It is tasty that you will never need any dip. 

Totally recommend this place specially to people who wants to have a unique table and seat to dine in. For couples who have a low budget wants to have a simple date! For family to have a family time.
