Is Sio Pasta Actually Worth the Wait? (Great Food, But Here’s Why I Won't Be Back!)

ABBEY: Our first attempt to dine at Sio Pasta didn’t go as planned because the queue was simply too long. Fortunately, on our second visit, the line was much shorter, and we were able to get seats at the bar within a few minutes.

We ordered The Best Mentaiko Pasta and Neapolitan Beyond Neapolitan with Pork Sausage. Both dishes were cooked perfectly al dente, with each pasta offering its own unique and well-balanced flavor. Between the two, I personally preferred the Neapolitan. The rich tomato-based sauce paired wonderfully with the juicy pork sausage pieces, making every bite satisfying. The Mentaiko Pasta was flavorful as well, although I found it a little too salty for my taste.

The presentation of both dishes was impressive and definitely added to the overall dining experience. Since we were seated at the bar, we also had a front-row view of the kitchen while our food was being prepared. It was interesting to watch the chefs at work, but I did notice that the food handling and the hygienic placement of utensils could still be improved.

Overall, Sio Pasta serves delicious pasta that’s worth the wait, especially if you’re a fan of freshly made, al dente pasta with generous flavors.

WILL: Another day, another crazy long queue! 😅

If you’ve been scrolling through your feeds lately, you’ve definitely seen Sio Pasta popping up. The glowing reviews are absolutely overflowing, and it seems like half of Singapore is permanently standing in line outside their doors—both at lunch and dinner!

Naturally, I had to go see what the fuss was about. But is it actually worth the wait, or is it just clever marketing? Here is my brutally honest review.

Let’s start with the good stuff because, honestly, the kitchen knows how to prep a plate. I ordered the Mentaiko Pasta, and let me tell you: the online hype is 100% real.
—-The Texture: The pasta had the perfect, bouncy "QQ" texture—cooked to absolute al dente perfection.
—-The Sauce: They do not skimp here! The rich, savory mentaiko sauce was generous enough to completely coat every single strand of pasta on the plate.

Watching the behind-the-scenes action of how our orders were actually handled and cooked totally ruined the magic for me. While the food tasted incredible, what happens behind the counter stayed with me long after the meal was over. Arghhh!

Have you queued up for Sio Pasta yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
