Frozen Brazo de Mercedes Recipe

This is a twist to the classic Brazo de Mercedes that you will surely love.

INGREDIENTS:
Meringue
10 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
Confectioners sugar

Custard:
10 egg yolks
14 ounces condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Crust:
1 200g-pack or graham crackers (preferably crushed)
1/2 block of butter (melted)

Vanilla ice cream

Procedure:

Meringue:
Put the egg whites and cream of tartar in a mixer. Beat them until the mixture bubbles. Make the meringue by gradually adding the granulated sugar. Mix until soft peaks are formed.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place wax paper in a cookie sheet and grease it. Put the meringue and flatten it to 1/2-inch thickness. Bake it in the oven for the 22 minutes. When time is up, let the meringue cool.
Dust it with confectioners sugar to easily remove it from the wax paper.

Custard:
While baking the meringue, whisk the yolks and mix it with the condensed milk and vanilla extract. Put it in a pot and set the heat to low while mixing it thoroughly.  Once done, set it aside.

Crust:
In a bowl, mix butter and graham crackers until the texture is like a wet sand. This will serve as your base. Put the mixture in a serving dish and compress it with the bottom of a glass. Place it on a freezer to harden.

Assembly:
Spread the custard on top of the crust.
Layer it vanilla ice cream.
Put the meringue on top.

VERDICT
WILL: Can’t sleep and I kept on browsing the internet and there’s a recipe that blew my mind. So...without hesitation I sent the link to Abbey. Another challenge for him!

Tell you! This dessert makes me happy! I am not sure but my brain releases happy hormones! Wohooo! The taste is totally amazing. The merengue gives a soft texture, custard is chewy and vanilla ice cream blends perfectly. The crumbly crust balances the all in all sweetness. It is addicting!

This is real! Another dessert on Abbey’s sleeves! Blessed to have this kind of hubby!

GrabFood – Order Food Online To Your Doorstep

ABBEY: Grabfood’s promotion was too good to be true but it is true. If you’re a new user of the app you can get a free meal capped at 20SGD. Yes, 100% off.

I don’t know the end date for this but we tried it to order our lunch. I got a big serving of mutton set meal. We went 4 SGD over but still a good price to keep me and Wilma’s tummy full.

Royal Pratas and Curries Corner

WILL: We supposedly go out for a lunch but there’s no enough time for us to do it. And to take advantage on the GrabFood’s promotion (code: FREEMEAL) for $18 off for new users and free delivery we decided to just lay and tap the grabfood app. Hehe.

Grabfood ot the rescue!

Abbey advised me to download the app and choose whatever food that may please me. Haha. Tadaaan! From Royal Pratas & Curries Corner I ordered Fish Briyani and a Mutton Set Meal for hubby! Total $4 payment inclusive of delivery. Yey! Indeed it is a gift of GrabFood for the holiday season.

That is for lunch.

After 2 hours, Abbey and I craved for McD. Lazy to go out from Mercure Singapore On Stevens, we hit the GrabFood app again and used the promo code for delivery. Shockingly, it was delivered earlier than expected. Love it.

I felt the easiness of using a delivery app. And love it because of the promotional codes. Will I use it again, yes of course. Hope they will cater Jollibee delivery soon too.

Singapore Zam Zam - Famous Murtabak in Singapore

ABBEY: Singapore Zam Zam is a famous restaurant in Arab Street. You won’t miss it if you go there; it’s always packed and some staff are outside the place just to invite diners to come in. I ordered one of the item they were known for: murtabak. I got chicken and sardine.

They are full of flavor and not that spicy. One serving is for sharing so bring a friend.

WILL: Looking for a luscious Indian meal? Be practical and head to the one and only Singapore ZamZam. Oh, you won’t spend too much in here! You do not need to.

I ordered a vegetarian mee goreng and sardine murtabak. The sardine murtabak injected joy in me. The bread is thin, bit crispy and suits with fish curry sauce. Mee goreng filled up my tummy. Spiciness is delicate.

Definitely recommended! A 10-min walk from Bugis MRT.
