Harry Potter's Collecting Magic: From Stamps To Wands Exhibition at Singapore Philatelic Museum

ABBEY: We wanted to visit Harry Potter stamp exhibition but there is a fee. So we went there on a holiday, during 2017 Chinese New Year. And it is free.

You can take snaps with your "luggage" halfway thru Platform 9 3/4 and with Hedwig. You can board a cabin of Hogwarts Express or the Quiditch broomstick, Dhoby, the wizards and witches' wands were there as well.

Stamps and postcards were on the display. But one group caught my attention. It is the stamp version of Harry Potter book covers. For a minimum of 5SGD you can dress up with Hogwarts uniform and feel the wizarding world's magic.

WILL: I have read this Harry Potter's Collecting Magic Exhibit at Postcrossing.com and as wife of a big fan of Harry Potter, I set a schedule for us to visit it.

We celebrated the second day of Chinese New Year in Singapore Philatelic Museum. We arrived around 5pm and since there are live performances downstairs we took the chance to roam around the exhibition room with few museum goers.

I am fascinated to see their different wands for different characters. They have a small cubicle in there for you to feel how the train is going to Hogwarts seems like. Broomstick with a nice background to have a photo op. You can rent costumes for only $5 (will be donated) as long as you can. :)

I collect stamps and I am joyful to see those collector items and even postcards from different parts of the world.

A Harry Potter fan too? Don't miss this exhibit. Free for all Singaporean and PR. $8 for foreigner.

Seeing is Believing - Unusual Stamps Exhibit at Singapore Philatelic Museum

ABBEY: This year Singapore Night Festival also tap Philatelic Museum to open their doors during the event.

It showcases rare and odd stamps that were made of wood, volcanic ash, embroidered, plastic and foil. Scented stamps and glow-in-the-dark ones were displayed as well.

The Superhero exhibit displays the popular heroes of DC comics like Wonderwoman, Batman and my favorite, Superman. Batmobiles across the years were also shown. I too the opportunity to take a snap beside the Superman's life-size bust figure.

WILL: Getting ready for Singapore 2015 World Stamp Exhibition? Philatelic Museum of Singapore is now exhibiting the not our usual stamp. If Abbey is excited on Earth Harp and 7 Sopranos, me.. I can't wait for Philatelic Museum's Open House.

Upon stepping my foot in the building, I immediately rushed Abbey to go to the second floor for us to see some of the rare stamps.

Like a child, I touched, smell and even want to lick for me to taste the flavored stamps. Haha.

Indeed a nice experience. Thanks to Bras Basah Bugis Precinct for letting Philatelic Museum join the Singapore Night Festival.

Singapore Philatelic Museum

ABBEY: I was a stamp collector when I was a kid. Got my collection from the letters that we received. Its only small scale though. My father told me that during their time stamp collection is a form of savings. Buy stamps whenever you got spare then once your stamp book is full you can exchange it for cash.

The museum got its open-house at New Year's day. They exhibited articles from Tintin comics. It showcases different post boxes from different years as well as the Singpost's history and memorabilia. Stamps from other countries were also displayed. Whole pad of stamps can be bought in here or you can buy an assorted pack. It located at Coleman Street; 5-min walk from any of Clarke Quay, Bras Basah, or City Hall MRT stations.

WILL:  Its 2012 and whats the best way to celebrate holiday here in Singapore? Go to their museums! This time we went to Philatelic Museum's open house. A house of stamps! Hehe.
Here we found out history of stamps and what's is function except uses as payment on posts. Here it, illustrates how country uses stamps to magnify the culture and customs.
Love this museum, information about the Singapore posts is so much to handle. :) From
City Hall MRT station this is just few blocks away.
