Café De Muse at Shaw House | 24 Hours Cafe in Orchard

ABBEY: After a hearty Japanese lunch, we went to Cafe de Muse to have our caffeine fix. I had Vanilla Latte. It taste like my childhood drink Sustagen.

A bit disappointed though as I’m expecting more coffee flavor at the bottom. I thought the vanilla taste will fade as a drink it but turns out it drowned the espresso shot. I also tried their not-too-sweet ondeh ondeh cake. Other cakes like basque burnt cheesecake and black forrest are available.

Café De Muse at Shaw House - 24 Hours Cafe in Orchard

WILL: After our movie with Wonder Woman, we went to Muse Cafe to wash down our Japanaese cuisine lunch. Muse Cafe is 24-hour cafe located at the heart of Orchard. You can see them if you pass by at the Shaw building.

Their spot is perfect for people watching  Due to non-stop cravings of sweet and coconut bits, of course, Abbey and I ordered for their Ondeh-ondeh cake. It is YUM! The sweetness, creamy texture and the good amount of coconut bits were present. Ondeh-ondeh cake was partnered with pot of Muse Special tea. Perfect! Did I mention that their price point is lower and their serving size is bigger than your well-known cafe? This is a good place to visit whenever you are in Orchard.

Wonder Woman 1984 - Singapore iMax

ABBEY: I was excited waking up on Christmas Day. This is the day with Gal Gadot via WW1984. To be honest I’m not an avid fan of Wonder Woman and doesn’t know the story in depth. For me it is just like another kid’s superhero movie: small guy became big guy then goes bad but hero saves the day and ending.

But the scene where Gal used the Lasso of Truth to communicate to people is really touching. As they say the truth shall prevail. Gal (Wonder Woman) is beautiful whenever she laughs, smile, sarcastic or even cries. Spoiler Alert: Wait for the OG Wonder Woman at the end.

Wonder Woman 1984 - Singapore iMax

WILL: Abbey’s all time crush. This will be our first and last movie screening for year 2020. Ohh. COVID! Haha. So Wonder Woman is not from planet Earth, ahhmmm am I correct? Haha! She is powerful woman that can swing by the clouds and lightning.

Ohh, sorry but it is so childish. As usual, Wonder Woman 1984 is catered for DC fans. I am Marvel. So what can you expect? I can’t fathom the storyline. Well, whatever. It is feel good movie but not my cup of tea.

Cheers Cut Singapore - The Taiwanese Ninja Crispy Chicken Cutlet

ABBEY: I saw Cheers Cut in social media and I was amazed how big the chicken chop is. For SGD8.90 you can get a huge chop of chicken fried to crispiness and topped with your sauce. I chose wasabi mayo and it went well with the chicken.

They offer free soup but need to pay SGD 1.60 more for the rice. Same taste with other fried chicken but only the size differs.

WILL: After vising some of Official Merlions we dined at a Taiwanese cuisine food stall in Food Republic, the Cheers Cut.

Abbey excitedly ordered the chicken chop and I went for their signature braised pork rice ($5.90). Well, it is braised so the sauce was camerilized that brought a sweet flavour to it. This dish lit up my brain and reminds me of Chowking (conglomerate of Jollibee). The not so good is, it has a small portion not appropriately balanced with the volume of the rice.

If you are in Orchard Area, you can head to this hawker stall before your movie starts at Shaw Lido Orchard.

Big Hero 6

ABBEY: It's been months since we went to cinema. So before my natal day ended, we booked tickets for Big Hero 6 at Shaw Lido.

Most of the movie goers were kids. Well, I'm a kid at heart; sometimes thinks and acts as a kid :)

Walt Disney Studios made me burst into laughters as the movie unfolds. It is a story of a robot-fight-fanatic kid while his brother is developing the same for the purpose of helping the community. Lot of twists on the story and funny moments as well. Make sure to check Baymax's signature bump fist move and his scale of pain.

Hire and Baymax is a good tandem. And with their whole team of nerd superhero, they are taking the world by storm. This is a good gift for my birthday.

WILL: It is my baby's birthday. Yeah my 31-year old boy's birthday. Haha! This is one of his birthday wish. So who am I to refuse on this childish request. Haha!

The movie is all about siblings! Gosh! If siblings is the topic my heart melts so easily.

Good movie for children and adult with a young heart. I really want to feel how soft and warm Baymax is.

Till next "Tralala". My rating 9/10.

The Company You Keep Singapore Preview

ABBEY: It was a story of unsolved murder case caused by group so called "activists" (Weather Underground). A local reporter, Ben (Shia LaBeouf), who wants to have a big scoop of news dive in to get into the story deeper.

One of the members were arrested (Sharon - Susan Sarandon) and an interview with her was the start of Ben's run. As he goes for his quest, he met Henry Osborne and truth comes in pieces from other people involved in the crime.

Eventually the puzzle was being solved and mystery was unravelled.

WILL: Okay it is just a movie, but the film runs from a aggressive reporter that outwit the FBI intelligence.
I admit it, when I saw the movie trailer in cinemas I really want to see this, very persuasive.
Nick cleared his name and get back to his home with his lovely daughter. 6/10 not so exciting but you will think and ask a lot of "why?"
Thanks to Shaw Online for giving us a chance to see it first here in Singapore.

The Impossible

ABBEY: This movie is an eye-opener for me on how far will I go to have my loved one to be back in my arms again. Twas a story of an ideal family vacation; hot sun, cool drinks, sands, pool, beach, and relaxation; until the unexpected happened. A tsunami swept the whole bay area leaving no trees standing, resorts completely gone. The cheers and excitement on the visitors were replaced by cries and fear. Above the water you'll be crushed by the waves, below it you'll be hit by the debris. Struggling for life Lucas hang on to a pole but seeing his mother swept by the water he went along also. After the water subsided, his mother had a flesh wound; making it more impossible to walk. They climbed a tree for safety and waited until rescue came.

It was chaos in every evacuation center. Each one had his own physical suffering to be attended to but what more depressing is they don't know the whereabouts of their loved ones.

(Ewan McGregor) was with his sons but was not able to leave the area. He believed that somehow he'll be with his wife soon. He sent his two sons to a center while still finding his wife. On one evac center they were all reunited but the wife had a lot of complication and her life is at risk. She undergone an operation and was successful. As soon that it is safe to travel they were airlifted to Singapore then to their homeland.

WILL: I really want to watch this film as it is based on true story of how Thailand's tsunami badly hit the lives of people living and having a holiday there.
Thanks to Shaw Theaters for letting my husband win a premiere movie ticket for two of this film.
The movie is so touching and really taught the viewers how to hold on to each others. 9/10.

Dark Shadows

ABBEY: We watched this movie by using one pair of complimentary passes from Shaw Theaters. The story is about a family that built their riches from fishing. Barnabas (Johnny Depp), the child of the couple, fell in love with girl Angelique(Eva Green) but he didn't want to marry her. Barnabas found his love of his life Josette. Still not able to move on Angelique cursed him and the story goes on.

Depp nailed this one again with his wit and charm. "Every house has its own demon"

WILL: Another Tim Burton movie for Johnny Depp, great isn't? Dark Shadows is not that dark as what the title portrays.  A kid's film full of comedy and a simple love story.
A love story that proves that the heart cannot force to love someone.
My rating 8/10. Oh, Thank you to Shaw for the complimentary pass they given to us.

Man On A Ledge

ABBEY: I've watched "The Ledge" movie starring Liv Tyler and I thought this is a remake but its not. Its about an ex-cop who stood on a ledge and is planning to jump. Twist and truth will be known as the story unfolds. It is a good movie; keeping your heart pump fast and hands and feet sweating as if you'll gonna fall.

WILL: Thank you to F*** Magazine for this great privilege to be part of the people to watch this first in Singapore.I can say? this is a F*** goo movie. haha! Why, my heart seems to leap out of my chest.
Action packed movie. Love this kind of movie! Very recommendable! 10/10. :)

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

ABBEY:  It's a new year. We weren't expecting this gift; a pair of movie tickets for the gala premiere of Journey2: The Mysterious Island. And not only that, we watched the film in IMax. A great treat indeed. The movie was fast-paced and the effects were good. Mr. Gabato has his antics as well as grandpa and Hunk. They blend well with each other. Watch out for the tips from "The Rock".

WILL:  Weeeee! Good vibes it is! We won a ticket for 2 on a iMax theater, special thanks to F*** Magazine. :)
Journey 2 is a family oriented movie. Mom, dad and their teens can relate on this. This is a movie of adventure of the lost cities. For me, the story it will be 7/10 but the lesson 9/10.
Good job the Rock :)

The Three Musketeers

ABBEY: This is another premiere that we had. It was shown in Shaw Lido at Orchard. Acting of the musketeers are great. Their house help did a good job too by giving funny punchlines. And for Mila, wow, she's so beautiful. The dress and hairstyle complement her very well. The story is good but you will be kept on waiting for the sequel as the war unfolds.

WILL: Another free premiere night ticket. ;) thanks baby, he won this from F*** magazine. This time we have it at our dream theater, the Shaw Lido. Again thank you baby, we got this on 3D.
Three musketeers is my kind of movie, i just don't know why. But i am fascinated how the people lived their lives on that era. Era of war and deception.
Love it and i will be waiting for part two. I hope next year, it will be free again ;)
