Pixie Nail Spa Experience | Classic Manicure with Massage Chair | Plaza Singapura Branch

ABBEY: I asked Wilma if we can have mani and pedi for our anniversary. Wish granted. We went to Pixie Nail and have our nails done. We’re seated in a lazy boy-like chair and you will only leave that after the session is ended. The chair has a massage function so you can give your back a treat while they are busy with your fingers and toes.

I’m satisfied with service. My nails are shiny after the cleaning and buffing. I just don’t like how the staff are being pushy for you to get the packages or telling you this service but for another charge.

What I do not want is not telling me how much the whole service will cost and the add-ons before we go into oblivion of relaxation. By the way all the services including manicure, pedicure, leg spa, nail color (for my wife) cost 370SGD.

WILL: It’s our second wedding and of course we want to be as beautiful/handsome like on our first. One of the base in getting ready for our it the pamper our hands and feet. Off we went to Pixie Nail Plaza Singapura branch.

We were there to get their classic manucure/pedicure. We loved the idea of elevated seats that seems like a throne. And the throne is a massage chair. Ooohhh! Total relaxation. But wait! Then the relaxation bubble burst when they started to be pushy in their additional products. Abbey said yes for salt soak ($10) and when I said NO to the woman who is manicuring our hands on her advise to get the 50% off hand and foot spa, she asked me “Why? It is only $40. Ot is cheap”. Well I am okay with that wordings but the way she looked at me that if I am somewhat cheap is not a good marketing strategy. Abbey was persuaded and get the hand and foot spa for both of us!

Can you guess how much is our bill after spending 2hours in the Pixie Nail? It is a shockingly $$$!!!

No-No-No for me. It feels like we were fooled!

Arteastiq De Patio : A Portmanteau of Art & Tea

ABBEY: We went to try Arteastiq. They have these teas in perfume bottles which kind of unique. The restaurant also has great homey feel. I got their cod fish and chips. I was surprised that the fish taste good. Not your usual fish that gets the flavor from the batter. The perfume-bottle tea live to the hype; not only aesthetically but also in taste.

WILL: I got curious on their perfume e tea. So we booked a table.

Haha! Quite fond of burrata cheese lately so I ordered their Peach Spinach Salad. The spinach leaves are quite fresh and their salad dressing is the real star of this food. Burrata is colder than I expect and the inner portion is not that creamy and on its way to be solid. Sad!

Then the Lychee Ooling Tea! I do really enjoyed drinking this. Not too sweet and lychee do not overpower the tea taste. It is indeed a perfume. The aroma is inviting you to sip more. Haha! It is so tefreshing for the whole body! Lovvve it!!

Please don’t forget to book a table if you do not want to join a long queue. Tea is well recommended. Thumb up!

Co Chung Singapore - Authentic taste of Vietnam

ABBEY : I lost to Wilma with our Showdown of Generals (mobile version of Game of the Generals) and the wager is that the winner will pick where to have dinner and the loser will pay. Wilma confessed that she really want to have a Vietnamese meal for a long time. So off we go to Co Chung (Plaza Singapura). We had a serving of spring rolls, grilled pork sandwich, and crab paste and pork vermicelli soup.

The spring rolls are good specially when you dip it in the sweet-salty sauce. We even requested for another round of dip. Our sandwich taste great; the char of the grilled pork and the crunchiness of the vegetables. And the soup will give you the taste of Vietnam. You know it is Viet noodles if it has lime, fresh coriander, julienned carrots and fish sauce.

I can say that I lost the battle even before it started. Haha.

WILL: Abbey was defeated in our Best of Three for Game of The Generals. The bet? He treats me at Co Chung - Plaza Singapura. I am craving for Vietnamese food for weeks and having BanhMi and Pho at that time gave me a relief.

Co Chung is not ordinary. The crab and prawn flavour dominated their Crab Paste and Pork Vermicelli Soup! Oh so yummy! Grilled Pork Sandwich fillings are just the same as others but their buns are extra softer.

Not regretting that we tried this Co Chung at Plaza Singapura. Definitely recommendable! Go and satisfy your Vietnamese food cravings.

Spectacle Hut: Designer Glasses & Sunglasses

ABBEY: It was this time of the year that our eyes needs to be checked and replace our specs. We went to Spectacle Hut and found our aviator sunglasses.

I thought the pair wouldn’t suit my eyes but they feel and looks nice. I have them as transition lenses and I look like Maverick (Top Gun) whenever I’m out in the sun. Additional pogi points.

Spectacle Hut: Designer Glasses & Sunglasses

WILL: It is time to change spectacles. Abbey and I, being adventurous, we chose to have the fad, a huge rimmed glasses that is  a fashion around 1970s. Spectacle Hut is a home for a variety of those and they are having a promotion. Lucky us!

The service at Plaza Singapura and Waterway Point just differs a little. Punggol branch is more helpful in finding the right design for me. Hahah. For this year, no increase or decrease of the lenses. Carrots, sleep and sunlight helped us on taking extra care for our eyes.

We are blessed because it is reimbursable through Abbey’s company. We are lucky that Spectacle Hut is on promotion, no need to top-up some bucks!

Kai Sushi & Robatayaki | Plaza Singapura

ABBEY: We were at Plaza Singapura and wanting to have a late dinner. Then we found Kai Sushi. The place were packed so we sat on the bar across grill.

I got Tori Seiro in a wooden box. It was delicious: soft, newly cooked rice with teriyaki sauce topped with chicken. You need to finish it fast else the sauce will be absorbed by the wood.

It came with a miso soup and chawanmushi (egg custard) for 15.80SGD.

WILL: Abbey treated me a dinner after we donated blood at Red Cross's Bloodbank at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. We paved our way to Plaza Singapura and only Kai Sushi and Robatayaki got our attention. Luckily, there two available seats at the bar and we instantly grabbed that opportunity.

I am half-full that time because we ate some snacks at Red Cross for us to regain some energy. So I went only for Salmon Maki ($12.80 for 6pcs).

We waited for more than 10minutes but the time and price is all worth it. From time to time it is good to splurge in this kind of diner.

Oh! They are offering alcoholic drinks too!

Fatboy's The Burger Bar (Orchard) - MacDonald's House

ABBEY: The Burger Bar we had dinner on was Fat Boys' conglomerate, but we wanted to visit the real thing. So one day after office we headed to their in Dhoby Ghaut (38 Orchard Road).

I ordered Fat Basterd. A couple of minutes passed, and the huge burger is on my table. I think it stood 6-7 inch tall; 2 burger patties, bacon , fried egg and cheese on a sesame bun.
I'm not able to eat it as a normal burger so the trick is to eat it by layers. :)

It was delicious, juicy and fresh. By the way it comes with serving of fries. My tummy is so full for that 198.80SGD meal.

WILL: If we need to talk something about our business, as much as possible we dined out. Why? I do not know why also that in such a limited table packed with people, our imagination flies through and creates ideas. And so, our primary reason to be in Fat Boys Burger os to have a meeting of minds and eating will be secondarily.

I ordered The Burgatory $13.00 (because the menu advised to get ask for extra napkin, haha!) and a hot water.

The burger arrived and once we have done the first bite, we already stopped talking and just munching the food all the way when it went half. Haha! We get into our business when the burgers were almost finished. That's good the patties are, you will forget what you are talking about. Haha!

MacDonalds House is just located beside Plaza Singapura, be there early than 7pm or you will end up queueing on a long line of patrons.

Xin Wang Hongkong Cafe @ Plaza Singapura

ABBEY : I think I already dined on this restaurant, once or twice. But only when I "dated" Kar Yin (Wilma's officemate), I tried their dessert.

For dinner, I got Western one; fried chicken cutlet with sauce and fries and baked beans. Then came the dessert; red bean ice kachang.
It was served in a large bowl. The ice shavings was formed like a tower or should I say a tall mound. I enjoyed eating it by carefully scraping the ice not to topple the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The volume of ice is enough to wash out the sweetness of the beans. My "date" have the mango one.

The diner also offer local and chinese food; ranging from dumplings, spring rolls up to laksa and noodles.

WILL: It is our first date with Karyin and I decided to date her at Xin Wang Hongkong Cafe at Plaza Singapura. There is a lot of dining options at that mall but this place always have a queue. We arrived early and we were served as soon as we set our foot in front of the restaurant.

Not more than 15 minutes our food is in front of us. I miss the crispy noodles of Chowking back in the Philippines and I am here to check out their version.

Crispy Prawn Noodle ($12.90) made me feel that I am home. It met my expectation but the quantity is enormous. But do not worry, I finished it all. Without giving any part of it to Karyin or Abbey. Haha!

Then I am craving for red bean ice kacang, we ordered the XW Special Red Bean Snow Ice ($6.90). I am very full but I still managed to ate half of it.

This my second time dining here in this food chain. The first is at Changi Airport Terminal 3 with my in-laws. It never fail to fill up my tummy wonderfully. Till our next visit Xin Wang Hongkong Cafe.

Tim Ho Wan Singapore @ Plaza Singapura

ABBEY: So what's the reason for people queueing on this dim sum restaurant? For one, it is their baked pork bun; a soy-sauced pork delight inside a sweet bun. An order of 3 costs 4.50 SGD.

I also tried their rice bowl topped with chicken, sausage, and mushroom. Be careful of the metal bowl though to avoid burns. My order is flavorful and delicious. It would be better if they will serve it in large portion.

I also had a taste of the carrot cake as well as the vegetable dumpling. We ordered free flow of tea. The tea has a unique wood taste; weird but a good twist.

WILL: Tim Ho Wan is one of the Michelin Star restaurant in Asia . Of course all of the people, including us is so curious what's in store that captured Michelin's attention. After our concert at K Suites in Bugis+, we hailed a taxi to go to Plaza Singapura.

So lucky that the queue is not so long and the turnover is quite fast. While on waiting for our turn to dine in, we were given an order slip and once we reached our table, not more than 10 minutes we received some of the food and they completed our order for not more than 20mins.

I have a congee for our very early dinner. Usually I do not eat congee to any store but I had a voice inside me pushed me to have one of it. Well, for $4.20 I got a very tasty congee. Never tasted any like this before. No need of extra condiments. It is just perfect.

The famous pork bun. What’s with it? A melts-in-your-mouth bun and a Chinese-styled sauced pork. I decided to go for 2 of those. Haha. The carrot cake is simple and even their shrimp and dumpling.

We will surely come back here for their buns and congee.

Nana's Green Tea at Plaza Singapura

ABBEY: We got a 1 lunch voucher on Nana's cafe and we claimed it on their branch at Plaza Singapura. It was a Japanese restaurant and they promote green tea on their menu. They serve main menu like chicken and pork, crepes, desserts like ice cream and drinks.

The voucher that we had is a set lunch; meaning food and drinks included at a price of 13.90sgd. The price for a main course is 12 to 15sgd and a drinks starts at 6sgd. So It was true treat for us :)

I tried their Chicken Teriyaki Don matching with chocolate. The hot chocolate has a rough texture but it was delicious. I never thought green tea and chocolate will go along well.

We left the place full and satisfied.

WILL: This one of the famous cafe in Japan and people of Singapore is very awesomely lucky to have it here. The newly renovated Plaza Singapura welcomed Nana's Green Tea
I am an avid fan of Japanese cuisine and I really love green tea. When Abbey won the giveaway from AiMakan, I am more delighted than him. Ha!
We really set a date to redeem the set lunch, we availed two sets of lunch which costs $13.90 and I ordered usual whenever dine in a Japanese restaurant, the Chicken Cutlet Curry Don partnered with Matcha Kuromitsu Latte. They also served it with the most tasty miso soup I had ever sipped. Excellent service also.
I fell in love instantly to this restaurant. Obviously, we will be coming back for more. :) Thanks to AiMakan for the set lunch voucher!
