A Night of Comedy with Rex Navarrete 2014 (Hosted by: Orion Perez)

ABBEY: This is the second time Rex visited Singapore and I'm glad we won a pair of ticket for his two-night performance by simply answering who is the character he made famous helping the Superfriends. Yes, it is Maritess.

The show was held at Drama Theatre of School of the Arts (SOTA; near Dhoby Ghaut MRT). Singapore-based Filipino comedian Orion Perez prepared our jaw and belly with his antics by speaking in a lot of accents. Like Australian, British, German, chong-ching-chang (Chinese), shubu-shubu-shubu (French), Singlish and (pakata-katak) Pinoy English. After thirty minutes or so, he introduced Rex.

Rex started his act by telling the story about his flight. It was very funny. "Don't "fanic", don't "fanic".  Then, he told us regarding the very first and probably the last dinner of his friend on their house. His friend definitely had a nightmare eating "black rocky road" (dinuguan).

Just like the first one, that night is great. I laughed a lot and I had a good time. Hoping that someday, Rex and Russel Peters will team up. Somebody's gonna hurt real bad. :)

WILL: It's harder to make someone laugh than it to make them cry. Comedians are the best pleasers in the world. We usually love them than hate them. That is why I salute this artist specially the stand-up comedians.

Last, 28th of November we went to SOTA Drama Theatre to see live one of the famous stand-up comedian in America.. Rex Navarrete. This is the second time we will watch him on stage and for this round we got this for free. Thanks to Curtis Curtis for the free pair of tickets.

Master of Accents (Orion Perez) a fellow Filipino living here in Singapore heated the stage by making his distinguished act.. The wacky way in explaining the accents of different people around the world. OMG! I laughed so hard when he say how the Filipinos talk, that we are like a duck... haha!

After Orion’s performance, Rex immediately came out and make us laugh out loud when he is explaining his experience in PAL. Well, I kinda experienced that around 2-3 incidents also while boarding the  Philippine Flag Carrier. I don’t want to explicate more, I do not want to spoil and divulge all their antics. But really, 2-3 hours is not enough to watch this guy. I want to befriend this kind of man. I think he turned in to laughing stock every hardships he had.

Better watch this kind of performances. Laughing is good for your heart, brain and lungs! Till next time Mr. Rex!

Interpretative Dance

ABBEY: I stumbled on this video as it was recommended by post in a forum. It isn't the usual interpretative dance that we know like doing ballet stuffs. This one interprets the song almost word per word. Its so hilarious. I can't stop laughing. He's a great guy. I like the videos for "Hit me baby one more time","Eternal Flame","Careless Whisper", and " You can't hurry love".

WILL: Abbey is a pro! Haha. This is a great youtube find, baby! Kakatawanan talaga! Look how the mime interpret the song. Laugh trip to the max.

A Night of Comedy with Rex Navarrete 2011

ABBEY: I thought I won't be seeing his act here at Singapore. It's a weekend, but it's a workday for me. Good thing my colleague offered a swap. Upon approval, I booked our tickets priced at 45sgd each. The place is at LaSalle College of the Art near Little India MRT station. The show started bit late but its worth the wait. Honestly, I've already watch some of his antics. But it's very different when you are on a live audience and hear him deliver the punchlines. Madami akong tawa talaga :). Bonus is the picture taking session after the show. Rex is one hella Pinoy :)

WILL:  Rex Navarrete... Who is he? Never heard of him until last year that Abbey gave me a link to his YouTube. From there, di ko n sya nakalimutan! Naks! At yun, Abbey went with me too see him perform live.
Ang aga namin dun, di kami pwede malate kasi baka kami mapagdiskitahan ni Rex hehe. As expected I laugh and laugh. His jokes were true, sabi nga nya he do "research" hehe. Very witty.
While on the midst of his sleep, pinunthan sya ng stewardess and ang bungad "Captain, tawag po kayo ni captain" what the f, then dun nya kwento sa akin na retired sya and he's on vacation ALONE! haha. Nakarelate tuloy ako. Haha.
Basta nakakatuwa ka Rex. More more more wisdom for you.

FML

ABBEY:
These are one or two-liners stories of people who had a bad day or unusual experiences. You can vote "You deserved it" or "Your life sucks" at the end of every story. You can read stories like a college student who planned to surprise his parent to go back to their home for school break only knowing that his parents are off to his school. Or a guy being dumped by his gf on SMS because he's not answering his phone as he's in coma for 3 days. Weird stories but funny. Visit the site, www.fmylife.com and vote. I heard that they have a book with illustration. Can't wait read that :)

WILL: F My Life. This is nice for iPhone App. You can say to yourself, wow I am blessed. Why?, here you can read how f@cked-up their life was. A worth reading, most of it you will laugh because of their stupidity, some of it creates the emotion of being worried for that person, some makes me feel sad.
Overall, its a good read.

Jeff Dunham

ABBEY: I first saw this ventriloquist on youtube featuring "Achmed the Terrorist". You can never tell that he's the voice of the puppet. He perfected his craft. I was then began curious about his other videos on the site. I searched for it then I knew that its the "Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity" performance in Comedy Central. I didn't stop until I got a copy. It was a very good show. There's Achmed, Walter, Peanut, Jose the jalapeno on a stick, Melvin the Superhero. The show got a huge audience and it even had a self-titled show.
You will laugh at the whole performance, beware of Walter's gas and pay attention to Achmed or he'll "kill you".

WILL: I'mmmmm gay! Shocks, this is so funny.  This kind of show was worthy of my spare time. I need this, we all need a good laugh! Thanks baby!

Kuya Jobert

ABBEY:
Iba talaga si Kuya Jobert  :) I've already seen his antics in Banana Split.  Its the segment of "M3 - Melai Mo Magwork" wherein Melai gives tips to Christmas shoppers on how to protect their personal belongings from thief. Yes, Kuya Jobert plays the role of a thief.
I first saw the clip of Kuya Jobert in Facebook. He was accused of stealing "Dingdong Mixed Nuts" and other chips in their sari-sari store. He strongly denied it. But when he started to explain, nuts and chips burst out from his mouth. :))
From then on I tried to find out other videos of him. There are lots of them. I wonder what happened to his "police career" after all his raid were busted.

WILL: Wooohoooo. Talino ni Kuya Jobert sa Algebra! K - for Kristofer! ahaha.
My nephew ask me if I have time to spare kasi may papakita daw sya n series of videos. Aba ayun, lahat tumawa even his Mom sa mga kalaokohan ni Kuya Jobert.
Thank you Jobert for making us laugh and appear tayo dyan cause I saw to your facebook account na you are part of Banana Split and talagang inabangan sa TFC ha. Kulit ng kilay, pati kilay nagsasalit eh. hehehe
Kuya Jobert got a song "Langit Na Rin". Talentado Kuya.. ahaha!
