Jinjja Chicken - Korean Fast Casual Restaurant at Changi Airport Terminal 2

ABBEY: After booking our sea and air tickets at NATAS Travel Fair (Expo) we went to Changi Airport to look for some place to dine in.
We found Jinjja Chicken at Terminal 2. It is a self-service Korean restaurant.

I got a bowl of chicken bibimbap for SGD 7.9. Add SGD 2 if you want drinks and fries.

It has the usual toppings like egg, meat, and veggies and not that spicy. It is my kind of rice: soft and fluffy. Sad thing that it didn’t last long. Haha.

WILL: Looking for the best holiday deal for our upcoming vacations, time just passed us by. Haha! I was shocked that we left NATAS 2019 Expo around 9PM. The best option for us to have great choices for our supper is at Changi Airport.

We are glad to see that there’s a new Korean fastfood at Terminal 2. The Jinjja Chicken. If you are really a K-pop fan, you need to check this out. On their huge screens are MTVs of Korean Artists.

On the food, I ordered their Tofu Burger ($6.90). The are two choices, spicy or not. I chose the former. The tofu is suprisingly crispy and it was breaded. The spiciness came from, well of course, kimchi. Yummy!

This will be the our “go to” on our Changi Airport visits. 🤗

Rice cakes
Mushroom (thin slices)
Chilli pepper paste (put according to your spice level)
Onions (sliced into strips)
Tofu (1/2 inch think squares)
Squid balls
Kimchi juice
Cheese for toppings

In a pot, place the onions first. Then place tofu, squid balls, rice cakes, mushroom, bee hoon in heaps.
Put water, kimchi juice and chilli pepper paste.
Let the boiling begin and scoop in bowls.

You can also add spam or luncheon meat, or slices of pork.

Budae Jjigae (Army Stew)

VERDICT
WILL: Abbey and I achieved another milestone financially and to celebrate that Abbey prepared Budae Jjigae as our dinner (because we miss the Budae Jjigae of Gangnam Wings).

Abbey, made a simple and yet tummy-filling Korean Army Stew even the ingredients are not that much.

The kimchi blended well with the soup and spiciness just gave another punch of flavour. Don't ever-ever skip rice cake on this meal!

Happy eating.

Gangnam Wings - Authentic and Best Korean Restaurant in Philippines

ABBEY: At last we set foot to Gangnam Wings at SM Megamall. We ordered one of their group meals which is good for 6 persons. It includes a whole chicken (we chose sweet and spicy and soy garlic flavors), a basket of truffle fries, a bowl of mango salad, a pot of budae-jjigae, rice, red iced tea and mango bingsu.

Honestly, I liked all the items. They are savory, flavorful and delicious. Budae-jjigae really stood out. It is a meal in itself. It has ham, noodles, macaroni elbows, beans, kimchi, rice and fish cakes and boiled in broth. Wow. All of these for Php1799.00.

Go visit Gangnam Wings and enjoy good times with friends with great food. They also serve alcoholic drinks.

WILL: Gangnam Wings! Although Abbey is one of the investors here, I will give a sincere feedback. Please do take note that our meal in here is not free. Haha.

We went there, 3 adults and 2 children, but the other one eats like two persons combined. So we went for Meal Deal P1799 (good for 6). We ordered 2 half chicken flavoured spicy and soy garlic, Buddae Jjigae (Stew), Truffle Fries, Mango Salad, Mango Bingsu for dessert and Red Iced Tea.

We were served first by Red Iced Tea and Fries. Oh! I prevent my self in consuming it all, that is for my nephew Baste (he only eat fries and burgers). Their fries is not oily and it is crispy!

Next the rice came along with the chickens! Oh my! The chicken meat, not only the skin, also sipped the flavours. It is total a winner.

Buddae Jjigae caught me off guard. In truth, I am expecting a lame broth taste! But! My! Kimchi is there, spiciness, the rice cake and noodles... wohooo! This is a real deal!

I am not into dessert but I made way for 1 more serving of this Mango Bingsu. It is creamy and the mango gave a nice kick of sourness! Droooool!

The quality of food was served by Gangnam Wings is great! This is a must visit whenever you are in Pasig area. Yup! This kind of restaurant deserves another branch! I fully recommend to get their "meal deal", you will save a lot from there.

Quick and Easy Kimchi Noodle Soup

ABBEY: Wilma’s colleague told her that she should try to eat kimchi instant noodle soup. She was told it was delicious. We bought it and then cooked. It didn’t satisfy her cravings for spicy noodles.
I got leftover over kimchi so I decided to check how to cook kimchi noodle soup. Here it is:

5 shiitake mushrooms (thin slices)
1 cup chopped kimchi (save the juice)
1 cup kimchi juice
chicken stock or cubes
red pepper flakes
sesame oil
sugar
cooked noodles
chopped green onions

Stir fry shiitake mushrooms then add the kimchi.
Put in kimchi juice, chicken stock, red pepper flakes, sugar and sesame oil.
The amount of each ingredients depends on your preference.
We like it spicy, sweet and sour.

Rinse the noodles and put in a bowl.
Pour broth over the noodles, top with green onions and serve.

Quick and Easy Kimchi Noodle Soup

VERDICT
WILL: One of my colleagues suggested that I should try the Kimchi Instant Noodle. On that cue, we bought a set and cooked one pack. Excitement fades when I never really tasted he kimchi. Not a hint of kimchi taste and you can have some sightings of small portion of fermented cabbages.

Ok enough on that. Haha.

Abbey, again, surprised me. Another list for him to make. Haha. He served that to me when I was sick and oh my! I'll tell you... KIMCHI SOUP IT IS! Creamy, sour and a kick of real kimchi. I can live eating this for a week! Bet?! Imagine a nutritious kimchi, fresh mushrooms, gyoza and bouncy noodles on your bowl?! Bye diet. Give me another bowl! Haha!

Thanks Maangchi for teaching billions of people cooking Korean Dishes! My husband and I adores you a lot!

Kim Dae Mun Korean Food at Concorde Hotel

ABBEY: After our “early” morning seminar on a Sunday, we had our brunch at Kim Dae Mun along Orchard road. They are serving Korean food.

Wilma got me a large bowl of bibimbap. So after saying grace, I mixed my bibimbap and dig in. It was so delicious. The kimchi is sweet and spicy and made my nose runny for a couple of minutes.

It is a self-service restaurant; chope a table, queue to order, bring the food to your table and eat.

Kim Dae Mun Korean Food - Bibimbap

WILL: Do you want to dine at an "authentic" Korean restaurant? How can I say it is authentic? It is run by Koreans. Hehe.

Their meals do not pass the range of S$10 with a huge serving and a free side dish. Cheap but not cheapo.

I ordered Kimchi Soup Pork ($7.50) with rice. The taste? Oh my! It is really kimchi. Better than restaurants you can find inside malls. The soup is creamy, spicy, sour. A feast of flavors. Enjoyed that food bowl for almost 30mins. Yes! It took me too long to eat 3/4 of it, the rest I pushed it too Abbey.

For sure, I will comeback for more!

Samyang Hot Chicken X2 Spicy Ramen 핵 불닭볶음면 (140g X 5s)

ABBEY: This became a challenge across the globe and I want to try it. I already passed the 4000 Scoville heat units (SHU) and I wonder how much spicy it is if you double it.

I successfully finished 3 packs of it.

I already realized that it was really spicy on the first slurp of noodle. My mouth and tongue went numb but I know I can handle the heat. The second time, my eyes teared up without me knowing it and got runny nose also. On the third, it was like normal but still the kick is strong. The taste is sweet and spicy.

Make sure to have water, milk or anything sweet on standby in case you want to take the challenge :)

A pack of 5 is less than 4SGD now on sale.

Samyang Hot Chicken X2 Spicy Ramen
핵 불닭볶음면

WILL: When Samyang's 2x challenge hit social media, I am shocked Abbey wants to try it. It seems that I am not at his side when Abbey evolved from a man who totally don't eat spicy food to a spicy-addicted man.

On his first pack, I tried a little roll of noodles before I served it to him.  And that is my last noodle for that day. Hahaha! Spiciness is unbearable. It stinged my whole month. Even I craved for more, I stopped myself. Abbey smothered it all. Hmp!

On Abbey's 3rd pack, I mustered my courage to take the heat again. Haha. In this case, I am prepared with smoothie and Ovamoltine chocolate spread to shield my tastebuds for this war. Haha.

Even with armor, I only took 4 fork rolls of this Samyang's 2x. I can feel the numbness on my mouth.

Never again. Haha! But that is a great experience.

Kimchi Fried Rice (볶음밥) Easy Recipe

ABBEY: Wilma is still infected by the ‘kimchi bug’ so I cooked this for her.

Ingredients:
5-6 strips of bacon (fried then diced)
Medium carrot (julienned and chopped)
Shiitake mushrooms (sliced lengthwise)
Garlic (minced)
Scallions (chopped)
Kimchi (chopped)
Cooked rice
Sunny-side up fried eggs
Salt and pepper
Chili flakes
Zucchini (optional)

Sauté garlic and carrots with the oil from the bacon. Then add the mushrooms, half of the scallions, and kimchi.
Put the bacon and rice. Stir until well incorporated. Season with salt and pepper. Serve the rice and top with egg. Garnish with scallions and chilli flakes.

Kimchi Fried Rice (볶음밥) Easy

VERDICT

WILL: While eating a whole plate of Kimchi Fried Rice at one of the restaurants at Orchard, without thinking, I convinced Abbey that cooking the dish will be an easy-peasy for him.

I was astounded after around 2 weeks he surprised me with that spicy and sour kimchi fried rice.

The verdict? What else? Kimchi's aroma and spiciness overpwowered my not-so-good mood that night. So imagine that! Your brain can give you happy hormones just eating this Kimchi Fried Rice. :)

Insadong Korea Town - Resorts World Sentosa

ABBEY: Wilma is craving for kimchi so we decided to eat at Insadong Koreatown at Sentosa. The Koreatown food place is a mix of Korea-Chinese/Western. You will be the one to put your order on the machine so make sure to check the items you want listed in the wall nearby to avoid holding up the queue for too long.

I got pork belly kimchi stew which comes with a bowl of rice and side dishes (anchovies, radish, and kimchi). I like the taste of the stew. It is not that spicy and really enjoyed the flavor along slices of pork belly, kimchi and soft tofu.

The meal alone costs SGD12. And there’s our fix for Korean food.

WILL: As you can see on our blog posts, we rarely go out to roam around Singapore and dine-out. We are pretty busy with many things. Haha! But when I saw that there a Sand Sculptures in Sentosa, we immediately make a schedule for it.

Of course, every after many steps we've made, we need to re-fuel our stomach. Beside the Malaysian Food Street is the Insadong Korea Town. Aha! New variation for you to choose if you will visit Universal Studios Singapore.

There is a kiosk for you to order your food. I went for Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork. OhhhMG! Cravings for spicy food...satisfied!!! The spiciness and sourness of kimchi is inevitably loveable. Yummmy!

Their place? The interior feels like you were transported to Korea in an instant.

Truly recommended!!!

Wing Zone Singapore - Buangkok Branch

ABBEY: Wing Zone announced that they holding their 5 cent chicken wing promo. We went to their Buangkok branch July 6 (Hari Raya Puasa) and we're first in the queue :) Opening is at 11AM but got delayed for 10mins.

Instead of picking up my order at the counter, the staff went an extra mile to deliver it to our table. Our table is the one nearest to the counter. Maybe that's the reason, but still kudos to the staff.

I had five Honey Q chicken wings, a cup of rice and drinks. I enjoyed the sweet flavor and the nasi lemak flavored rice. The sauce covered the chicken well as well as my fingers :) I hope next time it can be taken away not only for dine in.

WILL: I am always delighted whenever a non-working holiday hits the calendar but I am happier when Abbey took a leave just to be with me on those days.

Wingzone still run their promotion even it is holiday last July 6 (Hari Raya Puasa). They still offer Wings @ 50cents. As early as 10:30, we are already there to prevent any queue. The staff arrived at 11am and they opened their doors 30 minutes later than usual.

Abbey is first in line and I want to taste the Tokyo Dragon wings for myself. It is not that spicy and the flavor of their rice is more prominent than the chicken. Their wings have blood issues too. Hehe.

Anyways, I enjoyed seeing my husband eating all my leftovers.
