Fettuccine Puttanesca

VERDICT

ABBEY: Olives, anchovies, and capers surprised me when they were added on our grocery list. Aha, my baby will literally cook something. It was puttanesca. The ingredients came together well and made me finish the whole batch; save for a couple of spoons for Wilma’s lunch :) I now wonder what if shrimp will be added to that.
And my wish was granted. Wilma added shrimps and it was delicious.

PocoLoco Microbrewery – Italian Restaurant For Less

ABBEY: Still lazy to cook after the US trip, we dined at PocoLoco (Science Centre) and also to catch up with Chat.

For appetizer, we had Funghi. The mushroom are flavorful, well seasoned and delicious. For my main, I had Lasagna di Pollo ($12.00) fresh from the oven. I think I burnt my tongue as I was too excited to eat it. Not too much to be said on that but the serving packs a lot of chicken.

PocoLoco is a microbrewery. And since me and my wife don’t drink beer, we made Chat drink their concoction of Seaweed Barley Malt.

WILL: After our “Yes! Yes! Yo! sa Chicago” visit, we meet-up with ever loving Chat. We went to their home at Lakeside and for dinner, we hailed taxi to our way to PocoLoco. This diner is located above the Snow City and don’t be surprised of the woody smell.

PocoLoco has its own brewery and Chat likes beer and on that we get Verde (Green Colored Beer - $7) for her. I got Gnocci in Pesto Sauce ($11). Abbey ordered Funghi ($6) as appetizer and we add up Lava for dessert.

Firstly, I love their Gnocci. Homemade for real. Funghi, their sautéed mushroom is simple but superb. Chocolate Lava, well, I can eat two more of those.

Be sure to send an email or call or chope your seat. They are always fully booked. Why? Even this is one of the cheapest Italian restaurant in Singapore, they doesn’t compromise the taste of the food they serve.

What are you waiting for? Sms your gang and try this restaurant.

Saizeriya - Italian Pasta Restaurant in City Square Mall in Singapore

ABBEY: At last we're able to dine at Saizeriya. We went to their branch at City Square Mall. The seats were like booth-style and the ambiance is like the diners shown in movies.

I got garlic sirloin steak (12.90SGD) and garlic focaccia (2.20SGD). The steak is tender and flavorful. I ate three quarters of the way before I remember asking Wilma to taste it :) The smell of freshly-baked bread is really enticing. The focaccia taste great; soft and hot.

For 3.80SGD, you can have whatever drink is there in the drink bar; sodas, juices, tea and coffee.

Garlic Focaccia and  Mozzarella di Ravioli

WILL:
I had seen someone who dined here at Saizeriya and gladly announced in her Facebook wall that the food is not compatible with its taste. Well, as her comment posted, the food is yummy and yet it came with a cheap price. Who wouldn't be enticed on that right? And on that, I asked Abbey  to dine out and for us to check it on ourselves.

We went for Saizeriya's City Square Mall branch. I went for Bacon and Mushroom Risotto, Mozzarella di Ravioli and a glass of Red Italian Wine.

When the risotto was served, Abbey instantly saw my "dismayed-look". The rice or should I say "risotto" swims in its bowl of cream. Actually it cannot be considered as a cream, because its texture is like water. But because I do not want to ruin the moment.. our date, I took few spoonful and passed the rest to Abbey.

My ravioli came and gladly it compensated my anxiety with the first food served for me. I indulged on it on every bite. Lovely! But when I sipped their S$3.90 wine, my face cringed and I took a long deep breath. Abbey immediately told me "What are you expecting for a cheap wine?", then I rest my case.

I went to the counter with a smile and learned that I will be coming back to Saizeriya for their Mozarella di Ravioli and nothing else.
