Scoop Wholefoods Singapore: Loose Tea

ABBEY: I got sick almost the whole month of June. I look for ways how to reset my system and build my immune system again. Surprisingly, most write ups recommend to drink tea. Next thing I know, I’m shopping loose tea combinations at Scoop (Tanglin Mall).

I got one for sleep, immunity and relaxation. At first I thought I would not like the taste but I was wrong. With mixture of tea leaves, lavender, spearmint, rose petals and many more, I really enjoyed drinking it and helped me a lot to become better again. Plus they don’t have that burnt taste even when soaked for a long time. We will come back and try the other tea blends.

WILL: Scoop does live to its name and we became an instant avid customer. Aside from Kombucha and Steel Cut Oats we also found loose tea here.

I am not a fan of flowery taste but Scoop did a great job combining different leaves, herbs and flowers. It is pretty perfectly done! I will not settle for ordinary. And hey! It seems that we save more on this than on our usual bagged teas.

Visit Scoop! Now! 🤗

Steel Cut Oats of Scoop Wholefoods

ABBEY: I once saw this type of oats in the supermarket. And to feed my curiosity I bought a couple hundred of grams of steel cut oats at Scoop.

As I’ve seen online, you put 2 1/2 cups of water to every cup of oats. But still depends on your preference. The cooking time is more compared to rolled oats but you will see, taste and feel the difference one you eat it. The steel cut oat has more texture and grainy flavor. I’ll prefer this over other types of oats as it is less processed.

WILL: We found out that instant oats is the most processed type of oat. Well it makes sense, it is like an instant food. Haha! We searched for the least processed and that is steel cut oats which we found in Scoop At Tanglin Mall.

What’s the difference? It has a bite! It has a chewy texture and it doesn’t absorb too much water which is my liking. After few hours, you will feel that the fibre worked inside your body. Haha!

If you are into oats, give the steal cut oat a try!

Kombucha by Scoop Wholefoods

ABBEY: Kombucha became a buzzword in the healthy lifestyle world and we got curious what it taste like. Scoop (Tanglin Mall) is selling kombucha and we tried it. For 19.50SGD (yes, it is that pricey), we took home a liter of their original kombucha concoction.

Kombucha is as fermented, sweetened (by sugar) black or green tea. It tastes sour and a bit of sweetness. Another version of kombucha is jun which uses honey as sweetener. And yes the price goes up as it is honey for as much as 30SGD per liter.

WILL: I am a fanatic of teas and Abbey is always game to try new things that may benefit our health. Oh one more thing, he is more updated than me on new things on social media. So, he is really excited to see Scoop and what they offer.

One of the products they have is Kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented tea. It has organisms that will help your digestion.

How was it? Of course it taste like tea but it smells like beer without a bitter aftertaste. The effect was felt on the next day. It seems that the good bacteria from the Kombucha cleans my large intestine. Haha. What a relief!

We planned to have a bottle once a month.

Thanks Scoop for delivering these organic products here in Singapore.

Guschlbauer Singapore | Austrian Bakery

ABBEY: Yey, another pastry shop at Waterway Point. They are giving away devil cheese buns on their opening day.

A cheese bun costs SGD5.80 and we tried the original as well as the chocoloate. I prefer the former. It taste milky; like the powder type. I remember the days scooping a spoonful of milk and enjoy the milk powder.

We also bought kissling for SGD8.80. Now that is I think expensive; not that buttery nor flaky. It will be left in the dust by Tiong Bahru Bakery’s.

WILL: As usual Facebook is one of the culprit. Haha! I saw a post that they will be having a giveaway for for three days. Sad thing is that we do not have the time to queue.

Solution? Abbey bought it when we have the time. Sad. Not free!

The outer layer is quite hard/crisp but the inside is soft. Your brain will be eluded to eat more. The powdery substance that tapped over the side of buns brings back the taste of 'klim' in Philippines. I like the original than the Cheese Bun Tiramisu.

Kissling? No.. no.. no..

NEW Chips, Crisps, and Snacks We Munched This 2017

ABBEY: From time to time we also try new chips while watching TV series. Here are some of them:

Popcorners
This has the texture of popcorn but in a form or triangular chip. Taste like popcorn but your mind will be confused with the appearance. We tried their cheesy Jalapeño and it was good.

Thins
If you’re looking for sour-cream or salt flavor chips aside from Ruffles and Lays, this is a good alternative. The chips are thin as the name implies. Easy to chew and has the burnt taste.

Bluebird Sea Salt
Cold Storage is the only grocery we see that this is being sold. It is nice to go back to the basics of potato chips. Slices of potato with salt. Good partner with soda.

Way Better Snack
These tortilla chips might be way better compared to others because of their flavors. We tried their sweet chilli flavor and simply spicy sriracha. Those are new flavors for our taste buds and definitely buy them again.

Rgies Iloilo
This sweet treat is from one of the provinces of the Philippines, Iloilo. These are butterscotch squares which have brownies texture. They come in varieties like with almonds, coffee, cashew, dates, mango bits and chocooats but I like the mango bits most.

Rgies Butterscotch Square:

WILL: My love for chips is fading as there only few varieties available at ShengShiong store and they cost tons of money. Anyways that is better for our health and pocket. Haha.

But Abbey jolted back my affair with chips when he always bring something new from FairPrice Changi Business Park branch or other stores.

Thins: This became one in my fave list. Even it is so thin (as it was named) the flavour was packed in every chip. My favorite is their sour cream and chives. Yup! It is like you dipped it in the real thing.

Bluebird Delisio Sea Salt: Can you imagine, a simple salt can make your taste buds celebrate a feast? Simplicity is the best thing the can offer. This is only available at Cold Storage and always out of stock.

Popcorners: He knew that I love popcorn, he surprised me with a bag of this chips. Creative! Popcorn turned into a flat crispy chips! Clap! Clap! Clap! The taste reminds me of my childhood. Remember the cheap popcorn at your local store? Yes! This is the taste. But of course more crunchy.

Way Better's Simply So Sweet Chili: Yes! It bites! Haha. The sting of spiciness is there and the "healthy" feeling will justify your guilt haha. The chips has this grainy texture to support that claim. Classic!

Rgies Butterscotch Square: Beware! This is addictive! haha! Thanks Kuya Dexter and Ate Cai for this delicacy from your hometown. Not too sweet and chewy. You will crave for more. My fave is the mango bits and original.

Brown Brothers Sparkling Moscato 220mL at Cold Storage Singapore

ABBEY: We planned to have a drink while watching Billions TV series. We bought two 220ml bottles of Brown Brother Moscato. It looks like it has cork but it’s not. You can just twist it open.

It is a sparkling wine. It is sweet and I like it because it doesn’t have a strong taste and aftertaste of alcohol. Then why am I drinking wine? Haha. I think this is the kind of wine I can tolerate.

WILL: I want to drink a wine for almost a month ago. I am looking for a good sweet moscato that has a cap not a cork. Why? Abbey is not fond of drinking alcoholic beverages. I can't finish one bottle at once.

At Cold Storage (Raffles City), before heading to meet a person from Unilever Network, we stumbled upon this tiny bottle of moscato wine from Australia. The Brown Brothers. We saw 2 variety of a sparkling wine and Abbey decided to buy the two.

This is my second time to saw Abbey appreciate wine. He gulped his Vintage Moscato Sparkling straight from the bottle, until the last drop.

Me? Maybe I am not used of sparkling effect on my wine. I cannot linger on it long enough inside my mouth. The taste is sweet, enough to satisfy for a moment my wine craving. But again, no to sparkling wine.
